[W:149]Migrant child's death prompts new calls for federal investigation

Once they take an illegal immigrant into custody, they're not God.

According to Sec. Perry Trump is the Chosen One.

Kids die despite medical care, and it can happen to anyone fast.

He was left unattended for more than 4 hours. He was supposed to have his temperature checked after 2 hours. He was in a quarantine for ill detainees.

It's my understanding he was seen by medical and given Tamiflu.

He had a fever of 103 and was supposed to be taken to an emergency room if his situation got worse during the following 2 hours.

Who cares? How long ya gonna try to dine out on that arcane reference?

You want to gain some 'understanding'? Then watch the damn video. No one so much as even looks in on them for several hours. Never mind render any medical care or treatment. And it's not like they didn't know he was sick. He was transported to this facility specifically because he was sick. They just simply didn't care. The border patrol people manning that facility and responsible for his medical care and welfare are guilty of criminal negligence.

False. Healthy people die from the flu every single year. It's a deadly virus and it can take anyone in a day or two.

How many 16 year olds do you know who died from flus?

*sigh* Let me elaborate, because you really missed the point.

Yes, I'm aware people die on a yearly basis from the flu. However, a given individual's odds of dying are low when they are otherwise healthy and actively monitored by medical professionals.

Been there. He got more medication than I did.

Sad this happened but kids do die from flu in the U.S.

How many kids died from the flu 2019?
Kids' deaths rise to 56
However, this week another 15 flu-related pediatric deaths were reported to CDC, bringing the total to 56 flu-related deaths in children reported to CDC for the 2018-2019 flu season."

I find it somewhat disgusting that folks on this use a tragedy like this to make a cheap partisan point.

Where's your heart gone? Where's your care for humanity? And why is it you view the compassion and caring of others as nothing more than a "cheap partisan point". That's very 'christian' of you and jaded to your core. Believe it or not, there are people here that care, because they're compassionate humanitarian people.

No, HEALTHY people die every year. Flu is quite the equalizer when it comes to taking even the healthy down. It happens.
It's a shame this young man was left to fend for himself by his parents.

No, the US government did.

No, he was a minor and his parents left him to fend for himself. He got medical attention and unfortunately, decompensated very quickly.

Do you understand the phrase "a given individual?"

What I understand is your selective outrage and need to blame Trump for this.

What parents do you keep mentioning? This teenager was found alone in the desert.

You have no idea who his parents are nor what they ever did or didn't do. I think the word you're looking for is deteriorated. It took him hours to die and his temperature was supposed to be checked after 2 hours.

When I had the flu and 103 temp? Yes. I did.

Oh. You didn't die then. So you got the care you needed to live. The detainee didn't.

Nope, not looking for that word. And his parents are responsible for his being beyond their help. He arrived with a deadly, communicable disease and he'd probably be alive if his parents were responsible and taking care of him.

I haven't blamed Trump one time in this entire thread, don't try and deflect from the stupidity you are displaying.

A sixteen year old given proper medical attention has a very low chance of dying from the flu. It doesn't matter how many other people die per year.

I understand you think you are a better, more compassionate person. My guess is that our real life actions would not bear that out.

Neither of us know the quality of care that child received, so not possible to say he/her was not treated as well as an American citizen.

You and your ilk saying someone with a bad outcome was mistreated because you are making a partisan point. Hiding behind religion is the trick of a cheap charlatan not someone with pure convictions IMHO.

Oh. You didn't die then. So you got the care you needed to live. The detainee didn't.

Nope. Got some Tylenol and toughed it out for 3 days. I'm lucky.
No hospital. No doctor.
Had delerium a couple times from high fevers.

And yet, it happens, and here you are trying to convince me that your outrage and ersatz concern isn't partisan and expedient.
