Kamala Harris drops out of 2020 presidential race

Sen. Kamala Harris is ending her presidential campaign.

Harris, D-Calif., informed her staff Tuesday that she is suspending her campaign, an aide told CNBC.

Earlier Tuesday, CNBC reported that Harris canceled a fundraising event in New York amid reports of turmoil within her campaign.

Harris, 55, was the only black candidate whose polling numbers and national media attention had placed her in the top tier of the 2020 contest, if only for a short while.

She made waves with her announcement in January, nailing a campaign rollout that earned praise from Democrats – and even a compliment from President Donald Trump.

Surprised to see this at this point, but can't say it isn't expected. She never really could formulate her own ideas and always came across as very fake. I know a few on this board were very happy with her. Where does your support go now? Biden or a more Progressive candidate?

I didn't want to Major things against here was are yours is a prosecutor prosecuting people for marijuana violations in jail well she laughed and joked about smoking weed at the same time.

That means she's extremely disingenuous. To enforce a law you don't believe in to the extent at which she did raises eyebrows.

As odd as it may sound I think she'd have better luck running as a Republican. They seem to be more forgiving of that kind of stuff.
 
Took her long enough. I think it'll ultimately go down to Biden, Warren and Bernie at the end, and then Trump gets reelected.

Harris never really defined herself in a way other top-tier candidates did.

If I were to make a decision based strictly on who I'd want to see face off against Trump in a debate next fall, it would have been Harris in a heartbeat. She would have made mincemeat out of that whiny little wimp.

I'm strictly on the center-left of the Party, so my preferences are with Biden, Buttigieg or Klobuchar. I imagine it must have been a real source of frustration for Harris as an African American to see an old white guy outpoll her among African American voters.

Yeah. And as soon as the field narrows to two or three Trump will start to receive reports from foreign intelligence agencies.

She looked like a fool against Tulsi Gabbard who called her a hypocrite. And she could literally do nothing but whimper there. I don't think she is really as sharp and witty as many have pretended her out to be.

Every time a president runs for reelection, the election becomes largely a referendum on the incumbent. Trump being as colossally bad as he is in so many ways, that's even more the case this time, and polls show people want whomever is most likely to beat him.....although at this juncture, who that is exactly isn't clear. If you analyze it by looking at why Hillary lost and WHERE she lost, it would be a candidate who can regain the appeal of at least some working class whites in the rust belt.

What platform by any Dem candidate do you think will do this?

I'm pretty sure the majority of working class whites in the rust belt are against the Green New Deal because of it's idiocy or free college because it doesn't address increasing costs and just throws money at the problem or free healthcare because they know their taxes will go up substantially . So what's the Holy Grail?

Harris shot herself in the foot. She started off as a viable "non-crazy leftist ****wit" candidate and then decided to become a crazy leftist ****wit trying to win the crazy leftist ****wit vote.

I saw her as running mate material. Don't know who the nominee will be in the end but I bet her name will be on that person's short list.

Umm, yes that's how a primary works. They all fall away until one is left standing. There's a key difference between that and impeachment, can anyone spot it?

Sure, when the donors dry up, you drop out. It's how all this works, without the money, unless you can fund your own campaign, you drop out. The primaries are about who can attract the most money. Duh!.. ;)
