CNN: Trump wants impeachment witnesses fired despite top aides’ warning | National Post

A CNN report indicates that President Donald Trump is considering sending impeachment witnesses, who are currently on loan from other agencies, back to their own departments before they were due to leave the White House. In the case of others, he is indicating he has already fired them, when in fact he has not.

Trump is reportedly flying in the face of advice from aides who tell him the moves will be viewed as vindictive. His actions could even be used by Democrats as further evidence that he should in fact be impeached, CNN says.

Among the witnesses targeted for an early switch because of their impeachment testimony, CNN reports, is Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, whom Trump has attacked as a “Never Trumper.” Vindman, director of European affairs at the national security council, testifies in public over Ukraine today. He has already said, in private testimony, that he had concerns about Trump’s behaviour in regard to Ukraine.

He will clean house, any witness critical of him, gone

And that is the sad state of your Governance.

Maybe the Democrats can keep all the witnesses anonymous!

Anyone that dares go against trump is against America and should be fired :elephantf

Sounds 'authoritarian.' Not a good look for a democracy

Trumps attacks on Ambassador Yovanovitch demonstrate his vindictiveness, and those that look the other way

But Republican Representative Mark Walker disagreed:

“I don’t think it’s witness intimidation. What I do think, it is a redirection to make sure that people understand, specifically at the State Department, that they serve at the pleasure of the president,” he said, Reuters reported.

...it’s a republic...........one step up from the banana kind.....

If Trump is re-elected, that's exactly what's going to happen and rightly so. Except Vindman; he'll be court martialed.

Vindman's career is over no matter how this ends. He will never see full bird colonel. He has to know this.

Yavonovich is testifying out of revenge. She's pissed because she got fired. If she wants to play hardball, she better get ready to face the music if she strikes out.

So, what, some patriots going to lynch her?

The witnesses are trying to overthrow an elected official. Not a good look for our republic.

They have the Constitution on their side. If that's not a good look then you're on the wrong side of history.

He will if the coup is successful. That, or he'll get a big promotion in the state dept. Maybe even a cabinet post, if there's a Democrat president in 2021.

The President should have people working for him that are willing to pursue his policies. If they cannot do that they need to leave on their own. We have people working in the government who believe they set policy and if they don't like the policy of the current President they should rebel against it. That is not how it works. If you work for a company and rebel agains the management you get fired. You don't make policy you follow and advance policy decisions of those who do make policy.

No, not really. They don't have the power to oust a sitting president because they don't agree with his foreign policy. That's what this is really all about.

And so he should ... and has every right to do so.

First of all, there are no witnesses, because all of them have witnessed nothing. All of them claimed to know what Trump was thinking and what his motives were. All of them assumed ... but none of them had facts.

Second, why should Trump keep in his "employ" people who are butthurt because their feelings were hurt when he didn't "play" by their rules. He's the boss, he makes the rules.
Secretly undermining the boss' plans is never a good idea.

I hope he fires a lot of those useless bums.

His foreign policy is to extort foreign governments into investigating his political rivals? That sounds more like what third world despots do.

The House has the power to impeach him and that's what he'll be remembered for, for all time...and republicans will be remembered as cowards and traitors. They'll have to switch to another party to clear their name.
