Sondland testimony targets Trump, Pompeo and confirms deal with Ukraine

There was a Sci-Fi B-movie in the early 80s called Brainstorm where the plot was a scientist had found a way to record a person's experiences to tape, and then someone else could plug in and play the memory to relive it.

At one point someone stole a recording one of the characters made while having sex with a beautiful blonde woman that he then edited down to just run the climax on an endless loop... the repeated stress of the ecstasy, if I recall, killed the man.

I fear for Slyfox's health, is what I am saying.

From CNN: Live coverage: Impeachment hearings day 4 - CNNPolitics

Sondland: I pressured Ukraine to investigate Bidens at Trump's "express direction"

"Who is this 'Sundlend' charachter, anyway? I never knew him. He wasn't associated with me. He's a left-wing, liberal, socialist, pinko, commie member of the demoncrat deep space conspiracy where they deliberately lost the election so that they could impeach me."

(reportedly a deleted "Tweet" from '@realdonaldisgod.com')

Geez, at this rate, Trump is going to win in November by 40 points.

And the House, Senate, and eventually a 7-2 Supreme Court.

The non-crazies aren't buying a word of any of this.

There is nothing here.

But it beats talking about that empty field of Democrat candidates. Lol

Sondland made it clear that the extortion of Zelenskyy was ordered from the top, and that what Ukraine wants was conditioned on investigations into the Bidens.

Utterly devastating testimony for Trump. I do not see how Trump can survive this and I suspect after Giuliani and Mulvaney testify Trump will be forced to resign.
What makes you think they'll testify?

And when Turner just questioned Sondland he just said he "presumed" there was a Quid Pro Quo and he didn't have any evidence that any occurred.

What other evidence? All you have is a group of people with no direct evidence who also made assumptions without evidence.

1) We have two pieces of direct evidence. The call transcript, and Holmes' testimony about the call between Sondland and Trump.

2) Indirect evidence is still important. And when you have dozens of people describing the same, basic set of facts, that the WH/Trump/Rudy wanted the investigation of Bidens in exchange for the military aid.

3) I agree more direct evidence will be needed to impeach and convict Trump. That is why Bolton, Mulvaney, Pompeo, and Rudy will need to testify.

What makes you think they'll testify?

Giuliani and Mulvaney face the real risk of prison time for their participation in this scandal.

Also, I think as public sentiment moves against Trump the WH will have less support to obstruct Congress.

Also, logically, since Sondland is pinning this on Pompeo, Mulvaney, and Giuliani it will be very difficult for Republicans, in general, to support them not testifying.

I appreciate your concern, but no need to fear for my health, I have truth and facts on my side. I fear for Trump defenders who are likely to have a heart attack working so hard to spin the absolutely damning testimony Sondland has provided today.

I just keep repeating some of the important parts of the testimony because I think it's good for Trump supporters to come face to face with reality.

Sondland is offering his opinion and nothing else.

Your post reminds me of

Q - Did you see the Defendant with a gun?

  • A - Yes I did?

Q - Was it this gun?

  • A - Yes it was.

Q - Did you see the Defendant load the gun?

  • A - Yes I did.

Q - Did you see the Defendant aim the gun?

  • A - Yes I did.

Q - Did the Defendant aim the gun at the deceased?

  • A - Yes.

Q - Did you see the Defendant fire the gun?

  • A - Yes I did.

Q - What happened when the Defendant fired the gun?

  • A - The deceased was stuck by a bullet and killed.

Q - But do you know, from actual personal experience because you examined the bullet both before and after it was fired and never once lost sight of it between the two times that the bullet that struck and killed the deceased was the same bullet that you saw the Defendant load into the gun and fire at the deceased?

  • A - Your Honour, do I have to answer such an incredibly stupid question?

If he was, he'd have started an investigation. Let me tell you something. I don't believe in giving foreign aid, especially weapons, to corrupt people. Zelensky hadn't been in office for more than 2 weeks when that call happened. For Trump to hand over missiles that soon would have been irresponsible. I don't give a **** what Congress wants, they don't get to set foreign policy; the President does, read your Constitution. Zelensky made promises about fighting corruption, he had things to prove. And btw, Obama had already been looking into Hunter Biden, if that angle matters to you. Anyway, I think Hunter Biden wasn't the reason for holding up missile; that doesn't even make sense. Trump could have ask him to look into that any time without haven't to force anything. If I was going to pull a stunt like that, I wouldn't have done it the way Democrats allege (during a phone call), I'd have been far more subtle about it.

All of which proves that you are smarter than Mr. Trump is.

You see? That's your major malfunction. You listen to Fox and no one else

" Democratic counsel Daniel Goldman asked Morrison: "What did Ambassador Sondland tell you that he told Yermak?"

"That the Ukrainians would have to have the Prosecutor General make a statement with respect to the investigations as a condition of having the aid lifted," Morrison replied.

What does "quid quo pro" translate to? "This for that". The 'this' being the aid monies. The 'that' being a public statement by Ukraine that it was opening an investigation into the President's political rivals, the Bidens. Quid Pro Quo.
But let's take it one further:

bribe noun

\ ˈbrīb \
Definition of bribe

1: money or favor given or promised in order to influence the judgment or conduct of a person in a position of trust

One month ago...

Let's see what Trump has to say about Sondland now shall we?

Something along the lines of

"I never sent that so-called 'tweet'. The Democrats hacked my account with the aid of the Ukranirussians as part of their plot that started when the deliberately lost the 2016 election just so that they could impeach me."

sounds about right

And now we have motive for Sondland's testimony. He just testified after a call to boycott his hotels by a Democrat lawmaker, he and his family have been getting threats and his hotels are currently being picketed.

Exactly. Quid Pro Quo serves as a basis for substantiating a charge of bribery.

I think Rudy would be hitting too close to home...

My money’s on Pompeo.

Trump's probably going to string along Giuliani until the criminal charges after he leaves office. Then it will be his turn to be the fall guy.

After Stone got convicted, no one wants a replay. Sondland is covering his ass and finally telling the truth. Expect a resignation soon, this is a repeat of Nixon.

While a resignation might be a "repeat of Nixon", you have to remember that - since the penalty that can be handed out upon conviction after impeachment is NOT limited to simply removal from office and since the President has no power to "pardon" in an impeachment case - there might well be good reason to take the matter through to a trial to see which of the Senators and Representatives think that Mr. Trump should be eligible to run for office ever again.

Oh well if he's lying under oath that should be extremely easy to prove considering all the people he claimed to have spoken with. Maybe we should get Pence, Trump, Mulvaney, Pompeo and Giuliani to testify under oath to show how much of a liar he is. Or maybe the state department could release the materials they seized from him that would show he's lying. I wonder why neither of these have happened?
