Deval Patrick Will Enter 2020 Presidential Race on Thursday - The New York Times

Joining the campaign less than three months before the first votes are cast in Iowa, at a moment when candidates are usually dropping out and not jumping in, Mr. Patrick will face long odds. Yet his decision to run reflects the fractured nature of the Democratic race at a moment when Michael R. Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, has also taken steps to enter the primary.

I'm not particularly stoked about any of the Democratic candidates yet, so I don't mind some fresh blood entering the water. I am a little bit worried about fundraising. And some of the others who aren't getting anywhere should drop out.

I am blue no matter who. But I don't feel like contenders should be entering the race this late.

Told from a different angle, Patrick’s biography isn’t an uplifting rags-to-riches story but an ugly tale of corruption among the American power elite. Patrick didn’t just make a lot of money; he made a lot of money helping a Republican billionaire rip off the black middle class.

This has nothing to do with offense or anyone's feelings. I couldn't give the slightest **** about either. Using "two words" with a name is objectively the objectification of a person. While some people might be able to pull that off to make a point or note humorous nuance, it will only put nails in your philosophical coffin.

This isn't up for debate. I made a comment.

Why would you offer an opinion that, by the way, doesn't really have anything to do with the thread, on a debate site and then tell your audience that your opinion is not up for debate?

well I object to the objection to objectification especially when it is irrelevant to the fact that DP is trying to enter a race and probably has less of a chance than that goofy writer who was also in one of the debates

What? Do you have a source for that? Even if you do, what are you trying to say? That Patrick shouldn't be president because he was the governor of MA when a hospital involuntarily confined a girl?

Marianne Williams. She was awesome. She didn't have much of a snowball's chance in hell (I would say no chance, but that bit me in the ass in 2016) of becoming president, but I would have loved her to stick around for a few more debates.

It's called medical kidnapping. Being complicit with it as Governor, imagine the abuse he could inflict as President.

It's a real problem inflicted on many parents:

I asked you to show me how the governor of MA can overrule a physician's/hospital's authority and remand a minor back to the care of her parents.

Also, this is a weird thing to be hung up on to me. You live in TX. All of the press I can find about the Pelletier issue is local and state. How did you hear about it?
