Record Breaking Cold

Intelligence requires the ability to learn. You lack that.

Not sure why you felt the need to start casting out insults...

This must be a very personal issue for you and I apologize for upsetting you...

I mean, it's totally unreasonable to think that melting a good chunk of the poles into a saltwater ocean might screw up the gulf stream or anything.

So we have someone else who can't tell the difference between "climate change" and "weather."

Snore.

The climate is not comprised of the weather?

You actually believe that?

I mean, it's totally unreasonable to think that melting a good chunk of the poles into a saltwater ocean might screw up the gulf stream or anything.

And this will destroy the planet?

And this will destroy the planet?

What? No. But it may make human existence a good deal less pleasant. For a given value of "less pleasant".

Like having everything North of Boston freeze. And having 50,000,000 Americans all try to move at once.

Is migration bad?

Is migration bad?

Is having 16% of your entire population trying to get on the highway at the same time bad? Is losing 18% of your industry and arable land bad?

UNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

Do you mean like, Tuesday at 10 am everybody is going to move at the same time?

Is losing 18% of your industry and arable land bad?

As ice melts and more land becomes available... well, you get the picture.

UNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

I don't know what this means...

Except that's not the end result.

What we have no is not the end result... nothing is the end result because things are always changing.

a cold day is not a long term climate trend.

and yes, it has been colder than a gravedigger's ass today. it was so cold that my tire pressure light popped on. i want fall back.

But a hot day during the summer is. :lamo

The issue is global climate change. What you are talking about is the weather. The fact that this weather is out of the norm of the last 40 years makes it a subject that we can include when talking about global warming. You are not trying to play the Senator Imhoff example are you...I have a snowball, how can there be global warming?

But the records being broken are 100 or more years old in many cases.

And sea levels are rising.
Great Lakes in US are at record highs. Although that is rain related, not melting glaciers.

First, anecdotes are not an argument. The trend lines in overall temperature are that the earth is getting warmer. The fact that you have occasional cold periods within the overall trend does not mean the trend is not happening.

Global warming means a higher saturation of water in the atmosphere which means more violent weather, and can even mean harsher winters.

Reminder: Cold Winters Don't Mean Global Warming Isn't Happening

This constant pointing to cold snaps as an argument that there is no global warming is an unsophisticated, child-like discourse. Perhaps this will better explain it in a way you might better understanding.

The Record cold is being caused by a distortion of the Jet stream which causes the airflow to flow more north and south than it normally would. That distortion is caused by Global Warming. It will almost certainly be followed up next week with a bunch of unseasonable warm weather once the Jet Stream turns the other direction.

Overall the average temp for the year will still be higher.

So that has never happened before ever in earths history?

Do we have to do this crap every time there's a cold snap? Yes there will still be winter. The average temperatures have been rising consistently.

This doesn't mean you'll never see another snowflake - except for the orange clown on TV with his persecution complex.

It does mean that crops fail, storms are worse, swings are more extreme and water bodies dry up leading to drought, famine and conflict. It is a recognized threat to the world order already.

Well, that's what we're dealing with here. And to prove their point they elected an unsophisticated, child-like President.

Yes, as the North Pole melts it causes the Jet Stream in the Northern Hemisphere to run further north and further south than it should. That leads to more extreme weather. You get hotter hot days, and colder cold days. On average though the temperatures trend hotter.

Not here in the US according to satellite data or the over 400 most advanced temperature measuring stations that have been operating for 15 years. The warming is found only in their adjustments to the raw data.

So cold temperature is caused by Global Warming....

We have unusually warm weather across much of the globe, this pushes a trough up in the jet stream which results in a smaller portion of the globe being colder than normal. Thus, if 75% of the northern hemisphere is warmer than normal, 25% will colder than normal due to the trough in the jet stream.

Whether one accepts AGW science or not, that is just typical short term climate patterns.

Climate Change is responsible for everything that happens weather-wise. But only the bad stuff.

Citation Needed.

What exactly is the motivation for thousands of scientists to so radically distort reality? Fossil Fuel companies will lose billions if the world stands up to fight climate change. How are all these scientists benefiting exactly? I don't see a lot of Climate Scientists driving around in Lamborghini's.

Entrenched Power leads to incredible bias, but anybody can take advantage of a new idea. Exxon could start a solar power division if they wanted to. There's no reason to think any set of individuals would financially benefit from Climate Change.

Not in recorded human history. The single biggest change to the planet earth in the last 500 years has been the industrial revolution. We know what the green house effect is. This is fairly basic ****. You should have learned about the water cycle in 7th ****ing grade.
