The GOP's four defenses of Trump: House Republicans lay out central defenses of Trump in memo ahead of public impeachment hearings

The four central defenses, which are detailed over the course of the memo, are as follows:

- The July 25 call summary "shows no conditionality or evidence of pressure."
- Ukrainian "President (Volodymyr) Zelensky and President Trump have both said there was no pressure on the call."
- "The Ukrainian government was not aware of the hold on U.S. assistance" during the July 25 call.
- The security assistance hold was lifted on September 11.

"Trump said ..." is not a defense. "Zelenskyy said ... " is also not a defense since he HAS to publicly say that based on Trump administration threats. Ukraine still needs US support.

(3) "The Ukrainian government was not aware of the hold on U.S. assistance" during the July 25 call."

Multiple reports have come out confirming that they knew in July, in June, and according to latest reporting, as early as May.

(4) "The security assistance hold was lifted on September 11. "

Yeah, this happened AFTER this corrupt scheme became public. So this cannot be a defense. Secondly, apparently this was done by Bolton without knowledge of President (a week before Bolton resigned).

As to point. Umber three it is inconceivable that anyone would buy that a war torn country that relying on hundreds of billions of dollars In aid would be unaware or unconcerned about the progress of the aid.

Just how ****ing stupid do they think people are?!?

I sincerely doubt that any of Trump’s supporters are more than barely aware that the Russians have invaded Ukraine and are now fighting a low level war there, after occupying Crimea.

I’m quite sure that all of them will bristle with offense at the suggestion that TRump’s conduct servers Russia’s interest. Even though it clearly does.

And I have no doubt that we’re going to learn a lot more about attempts by the Trump team to extort Zelinsky by threatening to downgrade the US delegation to his inauguaral unless the Ukrainians played ball, which again serves Moscow’s interest.
 
Every witness has testified that they never heard Trump threaten to withhold aid or order withholding aid to Ukraine until Biden investigated.Of those who heard the president, 100% have said he did NOT make any quid pro quo statement or demand. Accordingly, 100% of all witnesses have either admitted they have no evidence whatsoever against Trump OR vindicated the President.

The Democratic Party incessantly lies. They are parading anti-Trumpers to spew out hatred and essentially raging that the President didn't turn the presidential foreign policy decisions over them. A million words of lies and pointless hate-mongering.

100% of all witnesses and 100% of all evidence supports President Trump. Putting up selected anti-Trump witnesses to spew out hatred and arrogance doesn't change those witnesses either testified to nothing or in Trump's defense even while attacking him.

It is irrelevant what anyone else thinks, said or did. It seems clear the insiders may have been trying to run their own game plan, but that does not put any guilt on Trump. If fact, people should cheer Trump since he FIRED those on his staff the Democrats claim were engaged in scheming with aid money. That makes Trump 100% opposite of Obama. Obama deliberately hired corrupt partisan hacks to do partisan dirty tricks. Trump fired staff who tried to engage in partisan dirty tricks.

This Trump supporter is well aware that Obama's "flexibility" he promised Russia after the election was to give Russia Crimea and Eastern Ukraine - on the way to giving all of Ukraine to Russia - and that Trump stopped this. When Obama was president, Putin ran the USA's foreign policy and had total control of the White House.

As far as direct witnesses go (there were no "eye" witnesses, but plenty of "ear" witnesses to the call as it happened) not one witness has come forward to say that what we read on the rough summary (not transcript, of the call didn't happen. Not one. Ninguno.

Obama made the remark in 2012.

The Russians didn’t invade Crimea until 2014.

If you’re going to engage in this idiotic whataboutism, at least make an elementary attempt to familiarize yourself with some basic facts.

On July 25, 2019, the call occurred. I listened in on the call in the Situation Room with colleagues from the NSC and the office of the Vice President. As the transcript is in the public record, we are all aware of what was said. I was concerned by the call. I did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen, and I was worried about the implications for the U.S. government’s support of Ukraine. I realized that if Ukraine pursued an investigation into the Bidens and Burisma, it would likely be interpreted as a partisan play which would undoubtedly result in Ukraine losing the bipartisan support it has thus far maintained. This would all undermine U.S. national security. Following the call, I again reported my concerns to NSC’s lead counsel.
