This should be obvious, but I and lots of other people have been saying it for a long time. The impeachment investivation and trial, if there is one, are not for most Americans. Everyone who has conclusive opinions about them are almost irrelevant in the process. Moderates and independents, as usual, hold the key. If the Democrats offer a compelling case and the Senate acquits Trump anyway, I think those voters will vote Trump out of office. If the Republicans win the public opinion war (whether the Democrats make a good case or not), I think Trump will win reelection.

I canceled my cable service when I realized that every time I turned on my TV it was left on some news network when I turned it off. But goddamn, football season is really making me second guess myself.
 
Only those who want to hide the president's wrongdoing will argue this should not be on live TV. They'll use the usual excuses: national security, protecting identities (even as they try to expose whistle blowers) or the rather vague 'executive privilege', but it's all the same: they want to protect their guy, not hear the truth.

Veritas has no credibility.
