Former national security adviser John Bolton has significant insights into matters being probed by the impeachment investigators, his lawyer said in a letter to congressional leaders today.
But Bolton’s attorney said his client will not testify until a court resolves whether a subpoena to him must be adhered to.
In a letter, lawyer Charles Cooper said, “Ambassador Bolton, who was the National Security Advisor to the President, and who was personally involved in many of the events, meetings, and conversations about which you have already received testimony, as well as many relevant meetings and conversations that have not yet been discussed in the testimonies thus far.”

This story just broke 8 minutes ago. I'm sure other outlets will pick up this story as well, but so far this is all there is on the internet about it. John Bolton's lawyers are conveying to congressional leaders that he has a lot to tell and even know things that haven't been brought up before by any other witness. What John Bolton wants is immunity that's the bottom line. He'll be willing to appear but only under subpoena and Congress has already said they dropped the idea of subpoenaing him. Congress doesn't want to wait for a court to decide whether or not he will be obliged to appear. But John Bolton is obviously anxious to do so since he was present during most of the meetings held about Ukraine.

It wasn't Bolton who Congress was talking about when they dropped the idea of subpoenaing someone. It was an ex-aide to Bolton...Charles Kupperman. Kupperman had asked a court to rule on whether he was required to comply with a subpoena. The House Dems decided to drop the court case and not call on him.

In any event, there's no way of knowing...by the lawyer's statement...whether this information Bolton has will help either the House Dems or Trump.

I don't know what his angle is, but one thing I'm pretty sure of, he wants to clear himself from possibly being charged with collusion in this scheme and he doesn't want to go to jail. Immunity is the only way he can do that. The fact that his attorneys reached out to congress to tell them this today is baffling. Now it appears that he's afraid he won't be subpoenaed.
 
Well if Trump is innocent of any wrongdoing then why does he fight.so hard to keep those close to him from testifying.

Seems like.he could just clear this up quickly if he would just.let.them testify

Bolton is playing the role of the 19 year old debutante who wants to be wined and dined and wooed and swept off her feet before she lets her date cop a feel.

Congress already knows what they need. I am glad to hear from John Bolton but if he keep playing these silly games - screw him. If he wants to talk he can do that just by picking up the phone and calling Adam Schiff office. I do not thin the phone number is secret. They will accommodate him right away.

Actually Bolton can do a great service for true Conservatives and start the rehabilitation project that they are going to have to take up to separate real conservatism from the manure pile of Donald Trump.

True conservatives who are not deplorables should welcome and embrace that development.

1] Wants immunity
2] Doesn't want to miss his opportunity
3] Is buying time until the judge rules

And speaking of the judge, what is with his waiting until DEC 18th, to begin to consider the case? Seven weeks? Ridiculous, given the importance. It only took a little over two months to get the Nixon tapes from start-to-finish, much less wait to hear arguments for consideration!

Bolton has always been a prima donna. And his ego is considerable in its own right.

I see no reason to subpoena Bolton.

He won’t be able to keep out of the spotlight.

He wants to make the biggest splash.

And he’s also waiting to see which way the wind blows.

Although, I suspect that he will derive great satisfaction screwing Pompeo and Trump.

If we want to hear what John Bolton has to say, the best thing is to do nothing.

He won’t be able to keep his mouth shut.
