Michael Bloomberg Considers Run for President Against Trump

For Bloomberg to be considered a moderate you have to admit that the party has moved fairly far to the left. Bloomberg's stated reason for entering was that he thought that Biden was faltering and he feared that either Warren or Sanders would be a sure loser in the general election.

Yes, the party has moved further left.

The centre of the party has moved, along with the national discussion, right.

True, you didn't. But, it further dilutes the centrist vote.

I for one can't stand Bloomberg.

We learned in 2016. We do not need "billionaires" to save us.

In other news, I wonder what the liklihood is of the next dem president being impeached out of spite?
I agree completely. But I will say this: If Bloomberg went to the top of the polls and appeared to be the best match against Trump, and barring any grave negatives emerge, he's got my vote.

Let others call me a lemming, fault my ideology, or criticize my electoral integrity. It matters not. I'm keeping my eye on the ball - the big picture. I do not want 4 more years of not just Trump, but a lame duck Trump unconstrained without political bounds. Nope. No, way.

I'm fine with voting for whoever is democrat next time around; Biden will be a real struggle for me, but I won't get legal weed or M4A out of him or Trump.

I'd have to vote my conscience and vote whoever it is - only because Trump is doing so much goddamned damage to this country it's insane.

I am not a lesser of two evils voter - but I have to be pragmatic, even if my heart tells me not to.

I apologize, Turtle. I suggested Oprah to run in an earlier post, and thought you replied to that. With only the feminine pronoun in your reply, and not paying close enough attention to which post you quoted, I screwed-up. My bad. Thanks, as always, for the civility.

no worries. Since you are always respectful-even when I disagree with what you say-I try to reciprocate

I think most of us feel that way, but we are trapped in this damn two-party system because of Duverger's law.

(Wikipedia) Duverger's Law

The other alternative is become parliamentarian, which as of late strikes me as not such a bad thing. But then there's this little thing called the Constitution ...

You could make a fortune selling your secrets to our politicians

That quote was from Groucho Marx ...

Not a source of entertainment I spent much time on.
I love the guy! Whether movies, or his game show. His brothers are talented, too. Especially Harpo.

Knock it off with the racism

Since I am Totally Texas White Trailer Trash (and my zip-code) this is not racism - it is guilt stemming from having been handed so much white privilege. ;)

I sure wish White Privilege was true.

Obama and the left wanted to place a tax penalty on citizens not wanting to buy health insurance, but then give it to illegal aliens for free.

Where is the privilege in that? The privilege to pay for others?

Hmm... I think that the right way to express that (bolded above) is that Trump will have more flexibility after the election. ;)

Surely you are not (accidentally?) suggesting that US citizens are white or that illegal immigrants are non-white - that absolutely would be racist.

At least that's what the byline would read. Didn't Biden say something about facts and truth? I wonder what his point was though.

Biden's point was that his political position on any "issue" is to be firmly for all three sides of that very important matter, yet somewhat against it, under certain circumstances, but always willing to accept bipartisan compromise for the greater good.

As you probably know I do my election forecasts. For that reason I follow independents real close. Not so much Republicans and Democrats, history has shown they vote for their party's candidate 90% of the time regardless of who that candidate is. Independents aren't really attracted to any of the big three as of now. But Biden performs better than Sanders and those two better than Warren among independents, I actually prefer the non-affiliated swing voters.

So Bloomberg may have a point. Way too early to tell. The problem for Trump, he isn't liked by those non-affiliated swing voters either. Shades of 2016 seem to be beginning to appear. I think most of the non-affiliated swing voters expect more than three tired old white candidates from the Northeast. Perhaps they were like me, hoping for a fresh young face.

Among independents, Trump is at a minus 18, meaning among independents Trump's favorable rating is 18 points below his unfavorable rating. Biden minus 16, Sanders minus 19, Warren minus 21. These numbers are very dynamic and change all the time. Next week they will probably be completely different. But what these numbers do show and have shown for six months or more is that Trump and the big three Democrats aren't much liked by the non-affiliated swing voters.

I also agree with Bloomberg that Biden seems to be faltering. But campaigns have ups and downs, sometime huge ups and down.

Trump can't 'rip anyone's ass to shreds'. He didn't even do that to Clinton: she did it to herself. And so it would be with a Bloomberg run. He'd shoot himself in the foot long before Trump figured out how to do much more than pin a lame-ass nickname on him.

The only way the GOP can win is like it always does - when not enough people vote. This election does not need Bloomberg, or Clinton, or Biden or anyone else so uninspiring that potential voters stay home again. It needs a massive turnout and for that, a populist candidate.

As usual Dems can be their own worst enemy.

Exactly! I don't get why they want centrist candidates when this is obviously not the time for that ****! They'd rather lose to Trump again then have someone like Bernie, who is probably the only person who can beat Trump, win. It's insane.

But Bernie isn't a member of their Kabal.
