Michael Bloomberg Considers Run for President Against Trump

I just posted this in the other thread:

No_more_NYC_Billionaires_in_the_White_House.

Here, I'll add: "Please!"

Of course there is no indication that we have ever had a NYC billionaire in the Whitehouse. We do have a guy who has spent a lifetime trying to convince Forbes magazine that he is wealthier than he is. It seems everything he has his name on is either losing money or being closed down after he loses lawsuits over fraudulent bahavior.

The only thing we know for sure about Trump is that if he says one thing, and anyone else says something different, and you are wondering who is being truthful. The smart money is on anyone else.

Hmmm...
Could he be the one the DNC Elites had for their chosen candidate all along?
Keep your eye on the media, folks. Their rhetoric about this guy over the next couple months will answer that question.

I don't think he's the chosen one - of course, I could be wrong -, but he's got too much recently accumulated baggage.

Like you indicated, we'll watch and see.

Yeah her credentials are even less than hillary's, though, unlike Hillary's, she didn't use her husband to get political office (she just got a big bucks job in Chicago after he was elected Senator)

Yeah I dont get why anyone would have serious consideration for her. I understand the celebrity infatuation, but she has no experience.

ever read her senior thesis at Princeton?

I  when I heard the news tonight.

So now there are 2 socialists (based on policies) that are frontrunners that can't win a national election, one old white guy who is a corporatist with a Ukraine problem, two billionaires, Steyer and now Bloomberg, who can self fund and stay in to the end, and one Buttigieg who can't get the Black support needed to win .

What a hoot!
Your take is interesting. I happen to like the diversity here, and want to be part of a big-tent party. I would have preferred to see Oprah and/or Michelle in it, too.

??

What the hell credentials does Trump have over Oprah? If anything she's self-made, intelligent, compassionate, and credible; things Trump is not.

You've got to remember the competition is Trump, and the election needs to be evaluated in relation to him.

Great! Lets hand Trump all the ammo he needs to get through that impeachment inquiry! I am sure the white nationalists will sleep easy knowing no <"sOcIaLiStS"> or minorities will get the nomination, on top of them handing it to quite possibly the one candidate who could lose to Trump (AGAIN!)

You didn’t miss it. I just don’t want to put out the jinx, especially since it must begin on the 2nd ballot. As Sen. Consequential would say, patience.

I wanted to go to DC next week on the way back from the NE, but Yes Ma’am had other ideas. I felt the need to drop by the DNC and have a ‘conversation’.

It’s already cold and it’s going to get worse this weekend. This will be the end of the growing season for the South. RFD TV called the early frost and early winter, more kicks in the balls for farmers.

I wasn’t happy for Beshear as a Democrat, but as an American. He inspired me. I needed it. I’m currently taking some leftist heat for supporting Censure. I have my reasons. You’re a smart guy.
Censure? Of who? Trump?

Exactly. Bloomberg is the real deal to all the fake stuff Trump claims he is.

Bloomberg is the last gasp of the establishment corporate america. They, like the right, know a rising tide of milennials and xilennials will soon be the primary voter base and will oust the centrists and rightists who infect our government.

They fear this thus they suppress it.

Bloomberg is DJT rebranded as a democrat.

I will not support him.

I'll vote for him against Trump, without a doubt. But besides that, I agree with your post.

Now about NO MORE NEW YORKER PERIOD!!!!!
Crazy as it sounds, I want a Midwesterner. A sensible, calm, compassionate, moderate Midwesterner. So it looks like my most viable candidate is Buttigieg, and that works for me.

Mayor Pete doesn't gain from the entrance of a moderate centrist like Bloomberg.

wasn't the comparison with Michelle Obama?

Well, 4 years as actual President. Besides that, a degree in economics, and 50 years of executive and business experience all over the globe. No snarky reply needed, these are just the facts.

I don't know what Bloomberg's plan would be. He will take votes away from Biden, Buttigieg and Klobuchar, setting up Warren or Sanders for the win.
He is not going to win any help from Sanders or Warren supporters.

This will set him up for an Independent run at the Presidency, where he will help to decide on the next President.

That is the only strategy I can think of. Of course there is always the, 'no I have decided not to run' option, again.

The DNC 2020 POTUS field is suffering from a lack of old white folks. ;)

You know, I agree with that. I had hoped for a fresh young face. That ain't gonna happen. Those old white folks, Biden, Warren, Sanders are all from the northeast also. Bloomberg would just join the ranks. You do have to give the DNC some credit, they tried an old white woman, abet from the Northeast and New York that lost.

Would the DNC accept someone that is not old and white from outside the Northeast. They did once, Obama and he won twice. prior to that it was back to the Northeast for John Kerry in 2004. He lost. Oh well.

For Bloomberg to be considered a moderate you have to admit that the party has moved fairly far to the left. Bloomberg's stated reason for entering was that he thought that Biden was faltering and he feared that either Warren or Sanders would be a sure loser in the general election.

I apologize, Turtle. I suggested Oprah to run in an earlier post, and thought you replied to that. With only the feminine pronoun in your reply, and not paying close enough attention to which post you quoted, I screwed-up. My bad. Thanks, as always, for the civility.

Agreed, it was a bit snarky of a reply. But my reply was for naught, anyway. The poster was referring to Michelle, not Oprah.

But as to Oprah, she has the same business experience as Trump but earned it herself, inheriting nothing. And her media empire, unlike Trump's, has been successful. I see her as strong competition to Trump. And today, experience seems to mean little in terms of electabilty. Oprah's pretty damn popular.

And as to Michelle, she's been in the White House already. We've seen her intelligence, sensibility, and character. She is amazingly popular. I'd vote for her in a heartbeat!

Of course not. I never implied as much.

True, you didn't. But, it further dilutes the centrist vote.

I for one can't stand Bloomberg.

We learned in 2016. We do not need "billionaires" to save us.

In other news, I wonder what the liklihood is of the next dem president being impeached out of spite?
