Broward County school officer accused of slamming 15-year-old student to ground

Nope. Didn't happen immediately afterward. Video here.

That makes it worse...with no audio...you don't know what was said,

But looks like, she was bored, she did something a stupid troubled teenager would do it, caught his attention, then he continued to do what he was doing, as the 2nd officer kept coming back in, conversation between that officer and someone in that room etc, then when that officer left, the original went full on stupid.

Was the girl wrong, yea, sure, did she deserve that reaction, not a chance in hell.

You can clearly see them talking to each other right before the slam.

The vid Henry posted clearly shows her sneaking up behind him and kicking him.

She needs to be charged with assault.

I posted it, not him. :lamo
Anyway you can see them talking right before the slam.

Broward County school officer accused of slamming 15-year-old student to ground - CNN At least this cops leadership stepped up and called his actions what they were "deplorable" But I've got the record needle queued up for the usual "The officer was in fear of his life" and "that will teach this unruly thug to disrespect authority"
The cop clearly used excessive force , and should be punished. The kid, unfortunately is just another example of the disrespect kids have for any authority lately. And they learn it from the so called “adults” they see throwing water, trash, or anything else they can get their hands on at police officers.

She deserves an ass whipping for that. If that was my kid, she would get her ass tore up when she got home.

She's in that school because she's never had any discipline.

>doesn't want to judge a cop until all the facts are present.
>willing to immediately judge the character of a 15 year old child because she goes to a school for children with learning disabilities.

The boot polish is rotting your brain.

Nothing but insults? Why are we not surprised? :lamo

Bold of you to presume you have anything worth while to address aside from open mockery.

But he didn't and regardless, that still wouldn't excuse his actions.

No it doesn't. However she should have known better. (Unless she has EBD? Those kids are difficult to deal with. I've worked with them.)

Agreed,

I don't think anyone is arguing she is completely innocent....just that the reaction.....was completely and utterly over the top.

To me, this is another example of why Police should not be used by schools to handle student discipline issues. They aren't trained for it, and their perspective and mission is not appropriate for working with students. Principals, counselors, and other professional educators should be working with the students. Disruptive behavior in school is a discipline issue, not a criminal one. (Recognizing that there is the rare exception).

You need a lot of patience to be a LEO, w/o which you should not be.

Yes this!

There needs to be far more psych screening of law enforcement officers--- including ongoing psych testing. I am almost certain this officer had other incidents which ended up being ignored. I will never believe that some of these bad cops only suddenly break bad by chance when there is a camera on them.

Then after that you have to wonder how many time this officer showed poor judgement in the presence of other officers who then said nothing to their superiors.

Why did she tap back of the officer's knee? On a dare?

Kids do stupid things, and if she did do that then it would be an assault---- actually an assault on a LEO which would have greater penalties. However. the officer's response to that assault was clearly unreasonable. He is not paid to be judge, jury, and executioner of sentence.

Apdst is trying his hardest to defend this cop, just so he looks consistent, and doesn't arouse suspicion.

The only problem is that the cop is such an asshole, nobody is siding with him except apdst.

If the Boondocks were real, he'd be friends with Uncle Ruckus.

Yup, but this was a SRO.

The girl could have been killed by the officer's action, and may suffer permanent brain damage.

Officer needs fired, no pension, attempted second degree murder should be on the table.

Exceptionally shocking and brutal.

Yup, but this was a SRO.

I don't understand the distinction there. He's a police officer assigned to a school. I'm sure he got some additional training, or maybe an orientation, for how he's supposed to work with students. (I doubt anything significant). But a police officer has the wrong focus and training for that job. It's the same reason we don't have soldiers routinely perform police duties - they are trained for something different.

Record needle dropped on track one.

I am a senior citizen who does not understand the meaning of your comment.

Does it mean that the needle of the phonograph player got stuck on one groove? (That is, repeating the same old same old.)

In any case, thanks for your opinion and have a nice weekend!
