the American people are not going to remove a President over something you believe happened in Ukraine
Actually, we know it happened in the WH. We know it happened because long before it became public knowledge via the whistleblower, the WH staff and lawyers freaked and immediately went into damage control mode, locking up the transcript onto a super secure server.
Then after it became public knowledge, the evolving story started. First it was there was no qpq, then it was yeah, there was a qpq and its ok. Then it was we didn't get our quo, so the quid doesn't count. Then as soon as Trump became aware of the whistleblower, he released the aid. See? No quid! Then the witnesses started testifying publicly and Giuliani's name came up, just like in the released memo of the call. Now it is "I have no idea what Giuliani was doing in Ukraine."
We've heard this tune before. Remember when the Access Hollywood tape came out? Trump actually gave a half-assed apology for it, calling it locker room talk. Later Trump tells us it was a faked tape, that he never said the things we heard him say.
Then there was the Trump Tower meeting where the first response was to deny the meeting ever took place. Then the emails came out, proving there was a meeting. Then they lied about the purpose of the meeting, saying it was about adopting babies. Then, when they got caught in that lie, they changed the story again - and again.
You're ok with Trump lying. He can lie all day long as far as you're concerned. The moment that you acknowledge he lies, you then have to defend his lies. It is much easier to simply deny he lies.
