O'Rourke ends presidential bid

Seems to me the ones who wanted to start the Civil War were the gun zealots who threatened violence when Beto suggested a gun buyback.

Lying is all the Right has these days. Is it not?

it was confiscation he wanted. seems like the lying has spread to the gun banning side too

If you had asked me a year ago I would have told you I expected him to be among the front runners for the nomination. He just didn't enter the race with much of a core message though and with this many candidates it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. We need a good 6 to 8 more people to leave the race so the people who actually have real support can fight it out.

He was a ultra liberal with no ideas and acted like a child. I knew when the MSM touted him as having the charisma to win the nomination he was an idiot.

An ultra liberal who....endorsed a Republican in a House race.

I did not buy my guns from Beto so he has no business trying to "buy them back" which was his silly way of saying taking my personal property by force and possibly offering me some monetary compensation if I had voluntarily surrendered them.

Good, he seems to have forgotten what State he lives in, if he cannot represent the People of his State how can he represent the Nation. He is toast as a politician, his own call.

He seems nice. Not very presidential (although heads and shoulders above Trump). I think I would enjoy playing a round of disc golf with him and then drinking some craft beer afterward. I think the gun quote nailed his coffin. Goofy or not, he should know that gun people can't see straight when one says "guns". I'd be down for O'Rourke versus Paul Ryan in 2028.

Did you people really consider O'Rourke as a legit candidate? Could you imagine him trying to negotiate with Putin? He is the worst candidate I have ever seen. I couldn't think of two more spineless wimps to run against each other regarding O'Rourke vs Ryan. You all better hope somebody enters the race who actually has a chance to win and can actually pay for the nonsense they are suggesting.

He started to believe the nonsense popular in other states flys here, he hopefully has learned that lesson.

I give him some credit-for expressing what most of his fellow candidates support

He just tried to be the most left leaning and "woke" guy in the pack. It was obvious to all that he had no chance to win a general election. Harris will be one of the next to drop out, she has already closed up shop in NH.

He was too white and too male even using a fake name to pass muster. And coming out for gun confiscation scared the crap out of the other Dem candidates. They didn't want to go there yet or even talk about it.

Are Dick and Mitt fake names too?

Yep, the cheers that his nonsense got were quite telling.

and I think the senator from Delaware who correctly noted that Second Amendment advocates are going to use that for years is correct. But not because of what Beta said, but rather the approving howls he got from the Democrat crowd and most of the other candidates. Those who criticized him did so because of political expediency

I'm not so sure about that (bolded above). I know quite a few left leaning folks who are gun owners and cringe when they hear that police state nonsense.

oh I agree, I was talking about the other candidates.

True, at least he was honest, wrong but I give him kudos being he comes from my Republic. Unlike the snakes in other countries that say give just a little and you lose everything. I wish him well, just not in politics.
NEXT!

He was never in any serious contention. Got a lot of hype in the media though.

The fickle media did its best to make him into a "Kennedyesque" superstar but then found somebody prettier to take to the prom. I'd almost feel sorry for him being dumped by his date if I weren't aware of how strange and self-enamored he is. Oh, well--he still has daddy's money (yes, his father-in-law's).

Oh come on. You don’t think Marianne Williamson has a chance?

Not gonna lie. She was my favorite. I mean, I couldn't vote for her, but she entertained the hell out of me.

All Democrat candidates are for gun confiscation it's just they're not supposed to talk about it until after they're elected.

That's what you all say every election. Remind me, please, how many guns have Democratic presidents confiscated? Get a grip.

What did you see? I am from his state, and know quite a bit about him. There's just not much there.

He's young, charismatic, bilingual, and energetic. I agree with you that his Senate campaign lacked substance, but it got national attention. And he actually competed with Ted Cruz. In Texas! His response to the Wal-Mart massacre was perfect until he slipped up about assault weapons. He should work on his speaking style and settle into a core beliefs set. I think he'll be politically active for decades.

Beto would make a good manager at the Costco or Home Depot there in El Paso. Only I think they sell guns so that could be a problem

In that case, he'd be your boss.

I like that he said exactly what he intended to do in no uncertain terms. Of course, I disagree with him, but I like when an enemy declares himself. I wish all politicians would say exactly what they believe. Both sides should try it.

Your political opponent is your enemy?
