Well that lasted awhile, eh? I mean, Turkey knows at this point now that they can do whatever they want and America isn't really going to do anything to oppose it. So there's no need for them to adhere to the agreed upon terms.

Not surprising, Turkey has been wanting to annihilate the Kurds for a very long time. This pause is more or less a media event, nothing more... there is still loss of life.

Thanks Trump!

No problem. They can keep on enjoying ever increasing sanctions.

A great consolation to the folks who are dying today. Mycroft, I'm impressed at this new, more humane leaf you are turning.

Kurds are the winners in this latest negotiation between the US, Turkey and the Kurds. The Kurds get to keep the lands they currently have illegally taken from Turkey and Turkey will get hit hard with economic sanctions if they attempt to take more of their own lands.

Syria is another matter. Syria's military is backed by Russia's and by Iran's military. I doubt if economic sanctions will work against Syria. I wonder if economic sanctions against Turkey will push Turkey to our enemies both militarily and economically, as well.

What's YOUR solution? Send those 50 troops back in there?

Trump thinks the victims are worse than ISIS. Why would he sanction Turkey for killing what he thinks are terrorists?

Yeah. Turkey wouldn't risk killing one American soldier. Fifty would bring this whole thing to a halt.

How do you figure Trump thinks the Kurds are worse than ISIS?

I guess you folks who swore the Iraq War was a bad idea are changing your tunes now? That it's OK for the US to 'bust up' a country (Turkey and Iraq, for examples) that are being forcefully held together by their governments and allow the bust up to create more American strife...and bloodshed...and use of American treasure? How many soldiers do you want to sacrifice in Turkey? How many years do you want the US mired in Turkey? How much money do you want to spend?

You think Turkey would go to war with America?? :lamo

Oh dear.

I think that Turkey would split apart. There are numerous tribes in Turkey. You think the Kurds would be the only tribe who would want their own country? Besides, I think Turkey would side itself with Russia and/or Iran before there became a possibility of the US fighting Turkey. EDIT: and China isn't in the region but would love to scrap with the US.

Second edit: Are the Kurds in Iraq gonna want their own lands in Iraq, too? You realize this would definitely cause Iran to get into the fray since the government of Iraq has Shia Islam ties...the same Islamic ties as Iran.
What a screw up the US caused in Iraq. A stronghold of Sunni Islam (Iraq) has a Shia Islamic government with ties to Iran.

And Trump is declaring victory?

"Kurds Accuse Turkey of Violating Truce"

What "truce"? What "cease fire"?

We all know Trump is a liar and a very sick "man". And, for the time being, he is our President. However, the President of the United States, without doubt, is no longer the leader of the free world.

Where do you get your news?

When did the US “bust up” Turkey?

I dunno, man...China seems to enjoy fighting you guys on the economic front, and have invested billions upon billions on building a massively competitive economy. You think they'd want all that bombed before they realize a profit? For Turkey?

Nah, there have been far better motivations to go to war than enabling Turkey to commit genocide, which didn't go anywhere. The only wars people are interested in are profitable ones, and the only profitable place to wage war is in the middle east. The world super powers seem to have adopted a "don't **** where you eat" policy.

When did the US “bust up” Turkey?

The US busted up Turkey when the US negotiated a cease fire between Turkey and the Kurds while the Kurds still had control of Turkish lands.
Trump called the PKK a terrorist group which they are. The PKK wants to take lands in Turkey (and Syria) to make a caliphate for the Kurds. And if you aren't a believer in the religious teachings of Kurds in Kurdish held lands, you are considered a non-believer and treated accordingly.

Crack a newspaper or a few history books, or just google. Your posts make little sense....

Turkey wouldn't kill them. One of their ISIS "allies" would do it.

Run this by Erdogan.....

If the American economic sanctions destroy the government of Turkey, there will be nothing Erdogan will be able to do except try to save his own life.
