    Former Pompeo aide testifies; Senate talks impeachment trial

    WASHINGTON (AP) — The swift-moving impeachment probe pushed onward Wednesday as a former top State Department aide testified that the Trump administration’s politicization of foreign policy contributed to his resignation, while the Senate GOP leader briefed colleagues on a possible Christmas impeachment trial.

    The day’s events, interrupted by an explosive meeting at the White House, churned as longtime State Department officials are speaking out under subpoena — some revealing striking new details — about the actions Trump, and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, took toward Ukraine that have sparked the House impeachment inquiry.

    The Trump/Giuliani Ukraine mess is coming unglued in front of the House as one by one the insiders with the facts testify as to what they saw happen. Even the Senate is now talking about a real Christmas present for The Donald: President Pence. I'm going to start looking into applying for political asylum in Canada. At least the head of the government up there doesn't have chats with Jesus.

    Yes, the "Mandate of Heaven" will be given to Pence.

    Re: Former Pompeo aide testifies; Senate talks impeachment trial

    There really has been very little leaking of information from these deposition hearings from the republicans who have been in these hearings. The reason the hearings have been going on for so many hours each day is because there are Congressional attorneys there to ask questions in addition to both the republican and democratic Congressmen.

    I heard Congressman Jamie Raskin, who sits on one of the three committees inside those chambers hearing depositions. I took note of what his observations were in the hearings. This is what he said;

    "At the beginning of these hearings there was some diatribes, which was to be expected. Congress had this parade of extremely capable, competent, patriotic government public servants who had spent decades working in the government and working to advance the public interest willingly coming it to be deposed and the juxtaposition between them and the kinds of people that we're talking about in the Trump administration, had somewhat shamed and embarrassed our colleagues and they became increasingly sheepish as these hearings go along. These are people standing up for the Constitution, standing up for the government of the United States against these constant efforts to undermine American democracy and to shake down foreign allies. There's a very sordid tale that's been revealed here and when it's all done there's going to be some people that are going to live in infamy for what they've done and there's going to be some people who have lived their lives in a very respectable and honorable way and they will be quiet American heroes."

    I know. Some people vote based upon what he says.
