Pelosi announces House won't vote now on whether to begin impeachment inquiry

There's nothing to gum up; just quickly dismiss the charges.

It's what it boils down to Jack.
Whistle-blowers and others inside the Trump administration have made us aware of egregious behavior by Trump.
You know Trump knows it was bad because he had to work outside of government with Rudy and 4 felons to make progress..I mean, it's obvious and we all know it.
In doing so, it triggered the House Intelligence investigation, to which the White House offered hte transcript which confirmed what Trump did.
They quickly moved to an impeachment inquiry, with what seems like a goal of maximum a few months to get articles of impeachment. That is fast. Remember Ken Starr harassed Bill for 4 years IN THE PUBLIC.

And you claim them having a rapid, largely quiet impeachment inquiry/investigation is a POLITICAL STUNT? It's in direct response to Trump's impeachable/criminal behavior, and people in and around his administration asking for this to be investigated! It's 100% Trump's fault that Trump did OBVIOUSLY bad stuff in obviously bad ways, to get himself in trouble.

Democrats are doing a fair job right now, and if they wrap it up in a few months, it will be a mercy for Trump. The trial will be where the circus begins, since Republicans have no facts to support their position, they will just try to gum up the process.

It's a shameless political stunt.

If they actually believed there was something here worthy of impeachment, they'd follow precedent and this would look similar to Nixon's or Clinton's impeachment. It would be above board and not conducted from behind a partisan iron curtain. I mean, if what Trump supposedly did is that bad, why all the shenanigans?

As you said, it's a shameless political stunt.
The Democrats, who cannot accept their lost power, are intent on believing that they are going to remove Trump from office after three years despite a duly Democratic election. Third year, three times a charm? I don't think so but to go on record, while I believe another of their ****-shows is bad for the country, it will be the Democrats, the biggest blunder ever in the history of politics.

So carry on with the BIG show fools...

When the substance is completely against you, you argue process. Republicans are exclusively arguing process.

All of the above is simply :bs.

If the case against Trump was strong, Pelosi would have taken the vote for the next step; impeachment articles.
Weak sauce. Time for you to accept that your party, Nancy as leader, and Schiff, the liar and leaker leading the brigade, is as crooked as all hell.

If there was any doubt as to what this "impeachment inquiry" really is, this announcement should erase that doubt. The House Democrats are interested in inflicting as much political damage as they can possibly get away with.

"We're here to find the truth". The truth is that statements like this are ****ing nauseating at this point, Nancy.
So she's saying that they're not going to vote yet because they want to collect more evidence.

"There's no requirement that we have a vote, and so at this time we will not be having a vote," Pelosi said. "We're not here to call bluffs -- we're here to find the truth, to uphold the Constitution of the United States. This is not a game for us. This is deadly serious."

:doh~ The truth ... ? They want to hide the truth - hence the closed doors & no vote !

I agree with everything you just said except for the last sentence. The Democratic party isn't the cancer, the cancer is this idea that "the other side" must be defeated in order for a problem to be solved. Both sides are equally guilty of spreading that disease.

I disagree with you both.

It's disgusting when something as non-ideological and non-partisan as cancer gets thrown into discussions like this. Use another word.

Republicans in the House need to understand that they are in the minority and get no say whatsoever in the impeachment process. Democrats get to decide who is called as a witness and what questions get asked. They also get to decide what gets released to the press. That means that they get to make sure that nothing exculpatory or in Trump's favor gets released.

Pretty neat not letting the other party participate. Bet that could catch on in the rest of the world they look to us you know. Does the person being impeached get to have a lawyer or testify on his own behalf? Seriously. Also why so secret all this behind closed doors crap.

It's a metaphor... and I couldn't care less if it offends you.

Plague, pestilence, infestation, stench, scourge? Hey this is fun! What are some more maladies that describe leftists and Democrats?

I disagree with you both.

There is an opening for a PAC to have advertisements asking: "How would you like a criminal process lodged against you where you're not allowed meaningful participation in your defense?"

Are you asking or telling?

Your comment sounds very snowflakeish.

A vote won't do anything. This is such a weird and pointless thing to obsess over.

The 'support' for impeachment proves 2 things...idiot leftist muppets will do whatever pathetic dance they are told to do, and the rat party and media collude to pull their strings.

Actually, that's exactly the opposite of what has been happening. The Democratic party and House leadership don't want to impeach Trump. Their voters are insisting on it. Can you imagine? A political party that listens to its constituents rather than one that surgically removes their brains and trains them to repeat the dumbest **** ever uttered by humans?

:lamo

The idiot leftists that have been clamoring ofr Trumps impeachment have been following idiot rats like Maxine Waters for 3+ years...since before his inauguration. The Rat party and the leftist media shills have been cooing at the idiot leftists since Nov 2016...non stop.

When the substance is completely against you, you argue process. Republicans are exclusively arguing process.

It's such a weird thread and moot point to me. I personally want the Democrats to focus on the 2020 election and give up on impeachment, but that's not what their base wants. The House could vote on investigating impeachment issues at any time and it would pass. Pelosi isn't beholden to Trump in any aspect whatsoever. She knows it. She loves it. And I think she gets off on Trump going absolutely ballistic about her.

Not at all. Let impeachment be of, by and for Democrats. The GOP isn't welcome, so they shouldn't participate. I would however like to see Mitch McConnell become more visible and see the Senate take nonbinding votes illustrating the rigged impeachment effort. The Senate should match the House's press release derby.

What? There doesn't have to be a vote to write impeachment articles. The Judiciary Committee does that whenever it wants. Then it votes. If they pass the committee, then the House votes. A full House vote right now is not only unnecessary but also pointless. Trump sure got you guys to think it matters though, didn't he? Go figure.

Support for an impeachment investigation has never been overwhelming until recently. After the Mueller report was released and because the president has been acting even more recklessly and illegally since then, more and more Democratic voters started piling onto their representatives. In fact, most Democrats, most independents, and most Americans want the investigation to proceed now. Maxine Waters did not do that by herself. The Democratic establishment has tried almost everything to avoid impeachment, but I have a feeling you're going to believe whatever you want to believe.

If the Trump administration didn't do anything wrong why are they all refusing to comply with Congressional subpoenas? Why all the shenanigans? If they believe they didn't do anything wrong they'd follow precedent similar to Nixon's impeachment, you know, where the Supreme Court said the Nixon administration had to comply with the Congressional subpoena regarding the Nixon tapes.

I love that SDET "liked your post.

Having a different opinion to the both of you, is not something I will ever lose any sleep over.

Of course the GOP are more than welcome, they have to be there, it's their duty to be there. It's them that needs to understand the scope and depth of this scandal by posing their questions to the people giving their deposition. Any Congressman or woman that sits on one of those committees are the eyes and ears representing the people who voted for them.

Of course they are inflicting as much political damage as they can! They’re all politicians...including Trump.
