Pelosi announces House won'''t vote now on whether to begin impeachment inquiry | Fox News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced after meeting with the House Democratic caucus on Tuesday that there will be no vote -- at least for now -- on the launch of formal impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

"There's no requirement that we have a vote, and so at this time we will not be having a vote," Pelosi said. "We're not here to call bluffs -- we're here to find the truth, to uphold the Constitution of the United States. This is not a game for us. This is deadly serious."

If there was any doubt as to what this "impeachment inquiry" really is, this announcement should erase that doubt. The House Democrats are interested in inflicting as much political damage as they can possibly get away with.

"We're here to find the truth". The truth is that statements like this are ****ing nauseating at this point, Nancy.

Sorry but neither trump or the GOP gets to dictate how the investigation takes place and even though trump has attempted to put up a don't testify wall it is not stopping people from telling what they know. Wait for it, the vote will come soon enough, are you in a rush to get trump out of office?

Poor Twump and Republicans...such snowflakes? Such victims!!! Will they ever get a break in their corruption and crime spree from people trying to stop them?!?
Now you want Trump's bad deeds not to have political consequences? Boo hoo!

Nancy won't hold a vote and she doesn't have too....boo hoo!

You guys need a safe space to cry this out. It's an investigation. When it goes to the Senate, they will have a trial, and you can point the finger at nonsense then, because that's the only defense Trump has, a bunch of crying nosnense. I wish that were hyperbole, but you know it's not.

The impeachment process begins when a House Resolution is introduced that includes one or more Articles of Impeachment. No vote is required ... at that time. The bill goes to the House Committee on the Judiciary and an investigation into the article(s) begins. When the House Committee on the Judiciary completes its investigation a majority vote from the committee will release the Article(s) of Impeachment for the floor to vote upon. At that point a vote of the entire House is required.

It's a shameless political stunt.

If they actually believed there was something here worthy of impeachment, they'd follow precedent and this would look similar to Nixon's or Clinton's impeachment. It would be above board and not conducted from behind a partisan iron curtain. I mean, if what Trump supposedly did is that bad, why all the shenanigans?

Republicans in the House need to understand that they are in the minority and get no say whatsoever in the impeachment process. Democrats get to decide who is called as a witness and what questions get asked. They also get to decide what gets released to the press. That means that they get to make sure that nothing exculpatory or in Trump's favor gets released.

Just perfect.

She confirms for many that this is nothing more than another Democratic **** show.

Sidenote... I am watching the Democratic debates tonight.
The only thing they all agree on is that Trump is a criminal.

Whatever happened to a thing called due process?
We are living in dangerous times with this cancer called the Democratic Party.

Democrats are blowing it but, support for impeachment is still a majority position.

Ya know Jack, Democracy is a funny thing. Rule of the majority. All good if you're in the majority.. and the majority is a benevolent figure.

Project much?

We're laughing at the **** show, but your kind will be the last to know it...

A legitimate investigation into the impeachable conduct of a POTUS for trying to illegally solicit foreign help in his 2020 election using U.S. funding/power in exchange....is a political stunt by DEMOCRATS? That's absurd.
You could say that about holding any crimes to account...it's all a stunt!! That investigation is a stunt! The investigation into Epstein is just a stunt!! It's stupid. We have the transcript, we have the whistleblower complaints, heck now we even have Jon Bolton asking Hill to raise this as a criminal matter to White House counsel too.

But here you claiming that investigating these abuses of power and potential crimes is somehow inappropriate because it's against Trump.

I agree with everything you just said except for the last sentence. The Democratic party isn't the cancer, the cancer is this idea that "the other side" must be defeated in order for a problem to be solved. Both sides are equally guilty of spreading that disease.

Do you remember something called "Outcome Based Education"? This is outcome based "justice". I still have my doubt that there will be a vote to impeach. That would stop the press releases.

At this point I cant help but wonder if this whole ridiculous leftist bull**** charade was nothing but a ploy by the dems to get rid of Biden as the front runner.

Agree... I have been saying that Trump is a symptom of the above, the cancer that persists in DC. My posts have been consistent in this manner.
I hate the far right of the Republican party as much as I hate the lying left who seeks only lost power, so if this was your point, it's duly noted.
I include perpetual war mongers like Lindsey Graham in the above. It's not just the crazy evangelicals and imperialists working for the war lobby in congress, that need to go, but these leftist idealists, who are promising the world but will deliver nothing.

The 'support' for impeachment proves 2 things...idiot leftist muppets will do whatever pathetic dance they are told to do, and the rat party and media collude to pull their strings.

The House doesn’t need or require a formal vote to form an impeachment inquiry. Trump is cynically using this as an excuse not to cooperate, to stonewall, and deny the House witnesses — just like every innocent person would do. The target of an investigation doesn’t get to dictate terms.

The rules have changed since Nixon and Clinton.

:lamo okay, thanks for sharing.

Politically, she played her cards today, and as we both know it would behoove the Democrats who are seeking power, to have kept her lips sealed. I think she knows we know they have nothing, but she has to keep the BIG show going...

They are doing this the way they are so they can feed out talking points like the one you just posted.

Personally, I have to admit that it is a shrewd tactic on their part. They get to control pretty much everything that comes out of those closed door sessions.

That's not at all what I'm saying and you know it.

It's what it boils down to Jack.
Whistle-blowers and others inside the Trump administration have made us aware of egregious behavior by Trump.
You know Trump knows it was bad because he had to work outside of government with Rudy and 4 felons to make progress..I mean, it's obvious and we all know it.
In doing so, it triggered the House Intelligence investigation, to which the White House offered hte transcript which confirmed what Trump did.
They quickly moved to an impeachment inquiry, with what seems like a goal of maximum a few months to get articles of impeachment. That is fast. Remember Ken Starr harassed Bill for 4 years IN THE PUBLIC.

And you claim them having a rapid, largely quiet impeachment inquiry/investigation is a POLITICAL STUNT? It's in direct response to Trump's impeachable/criminal behavior, and people in and around his administration asking for this to be investigated! It's 100% Trump's fault that Trump did OBVIOUSLY bad stuff in obviously bad ways, to get himself in trouble.

Democrats are doing a fair job right now, and if they wrap it up in a few months, it will be a mercy for Trump. The trial will be where the circus begins, since Republicans have no facts to support their position, they will just try to gum up the process.
