Fact check: Trump says again that Americans need ID to buy groceries. They still don't

Very interesting information on the practice of using checks in commerce.

As to grocery stores.

Grocery Store History - Grocery.com

In the U.S., American English (1828) took the term grocery to mean ‘a grocers’ shop.’ A U.S. grocery store chain, ACME, was founded in Philadelphia in the year 1891 and was among the first stores in the region. The concept of a self-service grocery store began around 1913 when a firm in Montana obtained a copyright for the word ‘groceteria,’ but it was not until 1916 that self-service was recognised. Previously, shoppers had to give the grocer their grocery list and wait to be served. The self-service concept has given shoppers a chance to pick items themselves; this has revolutionized the grocery store business.
Sigh. You're done. Take the L and move along. People aren't using checks in any large number. The overwhelming majority of people don't pay with checks. What else would you like to discuss about Trump being wrong in an increasingly larger number of ways?

You a funny thing.

They was taken checks in grocery stores that didn't exist in the 1800's.

Take the hyperbole out of the message, and what do you have? You NEED ID to do most things in the U.S. "drink, buy cigarettes, drive, purchase a gun, etc, etc" The message is why wouldn't you need an ID for something as important as voting, when you need one for something insignificant as buying cigarettes?

Again, focuse on the message, not the hyperbole.

Just face it, you support a joke.

We get it. You're trying to point out that people wouldn't have called groceries, cause a different term for what you were already getting at all of stores that sold food across the nation wasn't invented until a century later. Even though, you could pay for these things you don't want to call groceries with checks since the 1600s!!!

Is this your way of declaring you've lost whatever moronic point you were trying to make about the 12 senior citizens that show up every year still paying with checks at Walmart?

Take the L. Walk away.

No, he didn't.

So he knew some of the people were stupid, and couldn't comprehend what he was saying?

I don't think so, but if you insist.

However, that is proven by the followers of the left, and the MSM, just about every hour of the day, so you may have a point.

He didn't say nor mean what you say he did. By all means, though, keep living in your safety bubble.

No problem buddy. You're at a loss for words. It happens. More protein fixes that.

Yes it is. I guess the President's problem is that he fails to take into account the indoctrinated ignorance of some of the people.

You almost had it. One of the president's innumerable problems is that he banks on the indoctrinated ignorance of his base.

Now they believe they know what the President thinks.

The indoctrination is just about complete for many of them.

No, you're the one who can't see what he reaaaally means to say.

Not what he thinks. What he says. He said words. Words mean things. People who know those words and things interpret a message that the speaker intended when he used his lips, tongue, and vocal chords to make vibrations in the air that were received by his audience's ears and for the lucky ones, onto their brains.

For example, Trump said you need an ID to buy groceries. After several hours trying to figure out that overflowing diaper, his supporters said that what he was thinking and what he meant was something about checks and liquor.

Tell me more about indoctrination. You're obviously one of the resident experts here.

Silly me. I forgot I need a Trump whisperer to tell me the next morning after every time that dumbass makes a public statement that what he said was not what he said and that what he meant was something he never said. Unbelievable.

Try buying groceries with a check and see if they don't ask for an ID.

When was the last time you were asked for ID in order to buy a quart of milk with either cash or a credit card?

Would you object if the Federal government were to provide photographic identifications free of charge to all citizens, Deuce?

Of course!

<SARC>Every patriotic, real, patriotic, true, patriotic, conservative, patriotic, Christian patriotic, White, patriotic, American, patriotic, patriot would object to the imposition of such a fascistic socialist thing as a so-called "National Identification Card".</SARC>

Damn! The thread is STILL going? 515 posts over a silly Trump comment? You guys might check Amazon - I think they sell lives, and you guys definitely need one.

More honest than what? Are you suggesting that elections aren't honest now? Because that would explain how Trump won. Describe the problem that you think voter ID will solve.

let's try voter ID's and see how honest elections are. That would give us a basis for making a judgement.
