Fact check: Trump says again that Americans need ID to buy groceries. They still don't

Perhaps you disagree with God for condemning sexual immorality and sodomy?

Not the subject here, but when did god condemn sexual immorality and sodomy? Did she tell you herself? Has she ever given anal a shot? It's pretty cool.

Um, I use credit cards multiple times every day and never, ever get carded.
Obviously, the Starbucks kid isn't doing his job and asking you for ID when you pay for that Venti.

The cojones on these kids.

I don't know what he meant, but the fact is that if you use a check or card to buy things, businesses are suppose to check for matching ID. Businesses that don't, are allowing you to be exposed to theft of your funds.

What? No. If a credit card is signed, it's valid without accompanying ID. And Trump never said anything about a credit card (or a check or alcohol or any of the other random crap that people have incoherently dumped into this thread).

I don't really care if he's wrong or not. At one time it was required for Visa and Mastercard. They are the two that have dropped that requirement. A store can still require you to have ID with debit cards, checks, Discovery, etc.

They should. Because after a lengthy time before a person gets their funds back, if they do... The stores lose that revenue.

Of course you don't care. Someone else told me on this website the other day, "He lied. So what?" That's an actual quote, not a paraphrase.

And anyway, all the blather about checks and credit cards in this thread has exactly nothing to do with what Trump said. It's a sea of utter stupidity.

Once again, another reason you can't trust those on the left to actually repeat anything said by basically anyone they don't like.

You do if you buy alcohol at the grocery store, or cigarettes.
Only if you don't look old enough to do so. It's been a few years since I actually had to show ID for either of those items.

At one time? Not for at least a decade, but I'm willing to bet even longer considering my grandparents shared a credit card and they passed away over 20 years ago.

I don't think he'll go away at all. He's going to make some kind of mess for this country even bigger than the other messes he made for us.

You are, sadly, correct.

Groceries are in fact not supposed to check when you use a CC, which is why they NEVER DO. Go buy groceries sometime. You'll see.

Trump continues his Delusional Rantings Tour with a repeated lie that you need ID to buy groceries.

Link

He has got to be the stupidest leader in the world.

Other lies included statements that you don't need ID to vote anywhere in the country (not true) and that he granted permits to an LNG company that other administrations had refused (Obama issued the permits).

No one does fake news better than Donald.

The frauds at CNN owning more liberal brains.

If you write a check to buy groceries, do you think they won't ask for ID?

CNN is a swamp, attracting flies.

Remarkable to see how many people want to be identified as flies.

It may depend on how one pays. Down here if one writes a check, ID information is certainly required at all the grocery stores I've went to. They write all the information on the back of the check. There have been times when paying via credit card, an ID is asked for. Then if one is buying beer or wine, tobacco regardless of age an ID is asked for to ensure you're 21.

Paying with cash is about the only certain way not to be asked for an ID as long as one doesn't buy alcohol or tobacco. Regardless, I highly doubt Trump does his own grocery shopping.

The last time I saw someone use a check at the grocery store, the clerk had to ask the supervisor for help.:lamo That was a couple years ago:lamo

Are there still adults in this thread arguing people are paying for their groceries with checks? Who is doing this? Lol.

When was the last time anybody at Whole Foods cracked out a checkbook?

Well, it depends on how you do it. If you do it well, it can be quite a religious experience!

Do you pick apart what the left says as much as what the right says?

If not, you are a hypocrite.

How did you arrive at checks? Trump never said anything about checks.
People that pay with CC or DC have all provided ID to get those cards to pay for their groceries

It's ridiculous that these requirements are going away. Makes it possible to commit identity theft type crimes without taking someones identity. Outside of using cash, he is correct for what once was. He just isn't up with the changes.

Past... ID to vote, ID to use anything but cash for purchases.

Present... The merchants, banks, and elections commissions are now OK with fraud.

Do you have a credit card?

I know.. except for checking into hotels and renting cars, I can't remember the last time I was asked for my ID with my credit card. Poor Mr. Bull has probably never purchased anything online, either.

I use a CC for groceries very seldom. There is so much CC fraud, that where I go (Winco) will take debit and checks, but not credit cards. It helps lower their grocery prices not losing money on CC fraud. Again, I seldom use a CC for groceries. It's rare, and they don't check. I'm aware of such things. It pisses me off.

Do you support enabling fraud? Because that what this does.

I looked such things up just prior to my post where I mentioned Visa and MC. It is these two companies that do not require the merchant to check ID if the card is signed. I always put on my cards "See ID." I don't sign them. In my view, anyone who doesn't write "see ID" in the signature block is ignorant that it is easier to steal their funds. When a merchant actually looks at the back, and asks for my ID, I thank them.

I pay with my phone app at Starbucks.

I just started thinking. You know Jared's in charge of technology at the WH and for the country. I hope he knows more than his father-in-law!
