"The US is pulling out all of its troops from northern Syria as Turkey advances its operation against the Kurds.

Defence Secretary Mark Esper said Turkey "likely intends" to extend its attack further than originally planned.

The assault is aimed at forcing out Kurdish forces - the main US ally in the area. They may be seeking help from Syria and Russia, said Mr Esper, and the US would not be defending them.

Syria has now announced it is sending troops north to face Turkish forces.

More than 130,000 people have fled homes near the conflict, the UN said, warning the figure could soon triple.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Kurdish-led fighters under attack from Turkey, warned last week that they would no longer be able to guard suspected IS members and their families in camps and prisons under their control if the Turkish offensive continued."

And that's the way it should be.

Let Syria, Russia, Turkey, the Kurds...and the EU if they want to...sort it out.

I don't think SA has a dog in the fight either.

No, but if Trump seriously wants to pull troops out of foreign wars, why is he deploying more to Saudi Arabia? Unless he's not actually planning on withdrawing from the Middle East at all.

And that's the way it should be.

Let Syria, Russia, Turkey, the Kurds...and the EU if they want to...sort it out.

You support genocide.

That depends on what US policy in the region is expected to be. If it's a more reactionary role, then a completely hands off approach might result in having to get involved on a larger scale should the chips just fall where they may and they impact political/economic interests. Other countries are invested in outcomes in the region as well, so the bigger existential question is whether the US wants to take a less active role only to be caught flat footed when the power dynamics are in favor of the countries which are more involved either directly or indirectly. It's pretty clear the US is interested in outcomes there, and based on current action it looks like this administration is putting its eggs in the Saudi basket.

You support genocide of our best allies in the MENA

You, and people like you, have sacrificed the Kurds.

Did you go to church today?

Dial back the hyperbole, eh?

Uh, you put this incompetence in our White House. Everyone that voted for Trump owns the deaths of the Kurds.

Hell, at least get mad that he didn't put a plan in place so they wouldn't be slaughtered.

Are you against 8yo girls being slaughtered?

yawn...

Okay. Have it your way. Have fun with your hyperbole and nonsense.

"our own military believes that Turkey is deliberately targeting positions near our forces to get them to leave the area, and again, Trump doesn't care. " sound like a pure treason ....

I would run away from the responsibility of putting this incompetence in the White House as well.

If you need to talk to someone about what you guys have done, I suggest seeing your local pastor.

Maybe Donald Trump really is a good deal maker.

He seems to have made a deal with the devil.

Wasn't a good deal maker he bankrupted seven times, can't get a loan in the US is the only American to have a billion dollars given to them and lose it.

Trump is a laughing stock, however if it were not for his daddies name and money people would be giving him spare change on a street corner...

what kind of deal trump has with putin? what putin has on trump?

The ex- conservatives (who support these US moves that favor Russia, North Korea and Saudi Arabia) are really all in for Trump aren't they?

I'm glad a bunch of Republicans from WWII and the cold war aren't still living to watch this madness.
