[h=1]World leaders unite in condemnation of Turkey's Syria operation[/h]Several countries said they were concerned that Turkey's offensive could lead to a resurgence of ISIS

LONDON — Governments across the world joined in condemning Turkey's military incursion into northeastern Syria as the conflict ran into its second day.

The European Union's foreign affairs chief, Federica Mogherini, in a statement released by Germany's foreign office, called on Turkey to stop its military action in Syria, to prevent undermining the stability of the region.

"Military action will indeed undermine the security of the coalition's local partners and risk protracted instability in northeast Syria, providing fertile ground for the resurgence of Daesh," she said, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State militant group.

Erdogan said he's not going to stop. There are reports of human rights violations. Trump has done nothing to stop Erdogan, not even sanctions. I sure hope that Trump has at least rescinded his invitation to Erdogan to visit the White House next month. Trump's intentions here are possibly darker.that anyone could imagine. According to the legislative charter of Turkey, they can't be forced out but can be suspended. Putin wants Turkey to go against NATO. The U.S. has an air base in Turkey. Without Turkey, the U.S. and NATO allies have no influence whatsoever in the Middle East. U.N officials say that more than 130,000 have been displaced in Syria.

Europeans are good at talking. Doing...not so much.

No need for any of this if Trump had not withdrawn the small US blocking force in northern Syria.

Trump gave the green light and now he and everyone else is in trouble because it worked the way green lights do.

No need to if we hadn't been stupid and withdrawn. We didn't even have troops on the fighting line, we were training Kurds and not engaged in battle

If those "world leaders" care so much, let THEM put their money and their soldier's lives where their mouths are. The US is done being the one.

Like I said...those world leaders are good at talking. Doing...not so much.

They can send in troops to defend the Kurds.

That is the problem. The PKK are official terrorists in the EU. So instead of condemning them for going after terrorists, they condemn them for "undermining stability" (as if worn-torn Syria has any pretense of stability).

And they do nothing to stop Turkey from undermining stability except talk.

Other than sanctions, what could they do?

Place 50 of their troops (with support) in harms way to help defend the Kurds which is about what Trump removed.

Yep, no need for other NATO nations to do much of anything if they can simply talk (shame?) the US into doing it for them.

Why is that beyond the capability of these "condemning" nations' military forces to take over "defending the Kurds" (forever)? Why was it "smart" to for these "condemning" nations to stay on the sidelines and "stupid" for the US to finally join those other nations in doing so?

That is all they ever do. Sure they will throw some explosive disposal teams or other support forces toward NATO, etc, but largely they are free-riders when it comes to both war and peace.

While I agree that the Europeans are shirkers, that is no valid excuse for Trump removing the small US blocking force at Manbij.

That is precisely why we should not play Uncle Sucker forever and likely why these other 'very concerned' (from afar) nations did not get in there in the first place - once you become the "stabilizing military force" (world policeman?) then you are expected to remain "engaged" forever.

Firstly, SecDef Mattis never requested allied ground assistance when he decided to set up a few blocking locations in Rojava.

Secondly, Trump could have provided a "leave date" to the UN and members of the Syrian coalition to switch-out blocking forces.

Instead, Trump decided unilaterally after speaking with Erdogan on the phone and consulting only with Russia's favorite US Senator Rand Paul.

Not quite 'Unite' The U.S. and Russia did not

Yep, the US unilaterally went in to help eliminate ISIS control and then unilaterally withdrew once that mission was deemed to have been accomplished. What, exactly, did those other nations do other than sit back and express concern?

I think you are missing the point. The U.S. convinced the Kurds to take down there protective barriers on the Turkish side of Syria, and to move them to the ISIL side. In exchange the US would flank the Turkish side. Well the U.S. got what they wanted from the Kurds, Russia would like the Turks to be able to go after the Kurds, so time to pull the troops.
As always of late, if Russia thinks it's a good idea, America thinks it's a good idea.

At the UN Security council's vote to condemn Turkey for the bombing of the Kurds, two members did not condemn, The U.S. and Russia.

I remember when Russia and America had different views on global politics.

The U.S. has been leading the coalition in Syria. The coalition includes the UK which has troops there, France has troops there and they have also been conducting air strikes.

Again, I'll ask, what could they do?

There were British and French aircraft assisting the US in Syria. My you have a short memory.

You didn't address the "withdrawal notice" option. Why not?

Ask the US military to do it (whatever they deem that to be) for them, of course.
