GOP lawmaker: Democrats cherry-picking what to leak in impeachment inquiry | TheHill

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) slammed Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for his handling of the impeachment inquiry, saying the process is filled with "cherry-picked leaks, withholding of key facts and ... lying."

"Something that I find outrageous is the cherry-picked leaks, the withholding of key facts and the lying about other claims that's misleading the American public," Zeldin said.

as said the whole thing is a bust and a farce and nothing more than a witch trial.

So now you believe establishment, Deep State lawmakers, huh?

Your confusion is not surprising.

Nor is your inability to string together a coherent argument. An image of an ignorant moron like Trump with the word "Wrong" on it isn't an argument.

You have no evidence that that is what happened. So take your nonsense to the CT forum.

The evidence is already clear; and the situation is obvious. Since there was no good reason offered for her being fired, one must look at the other reasons why a career diplomat would be fired. Of all the ambassadors in the world, the one dealing with Ukraine was fired right before Trump pulled his stunt with Ukraine. Wow...what a cowinkidink!

You think continuing to be obtuse for Trump is the way to go? The man consistently insults your intelligence because you encourage him to.

- There was no collusion, yet he struggled to kill the investigation anyway? He clearly got lucky about something.

- There was no quid pro quo, yet he issued spin instructions anyway? He knows he got caught.

When one must reduce his intelligence, stow his common sense, and seek loop holes/technicalities to prove loyalty, one may want to consider why such a man deserves that blind loyalty and devotion. You shouldn't have to work this hard if the man actually deserves it. It's amazing to me how you people think that if you appropriately criticize Trump, a Conservative anti-thesis, that you are betraying your Conservative roots. Do you even know what a Conservative is supposed to be? When you defend a man like Donald trump, you are defending Trump, not Conservatism. Again, common sense matters.

Schiff said he had proof that was beyond circumstantial of collusion. Yeah, you guys are believable.

You mean like over 120 meetings between trumps people and Russian operatives???

Guess what, that is collusion...

LOL!!

So now the media is spinning the testimony BEFORE it's even presented. This has to be the ultimate in cherry-picked testimony.

Oh well, we know that Schiffty won't release the full transcript of the hearing...just like he refused to release the full transcript of ever single previous hearing.

Let us know when the Fruher releases the entire word for word transcript of the call and not a memo

It is a criminal offense to threaten or extort others in order to make some form of personal gain (whether financial or for political advantage) from actions that you are legally- and duty-bound to perform. Trump has been extorting people all his life, this was just one more incident.

By withholding military aid from Ukraine, which had already been approved by Congress, as a means of coercing their President into digging up dirt on Joe Biden and his son, Trump was effectively forcing the Ukraine to provide him with a political advantage while withholding Congressionally-approved funds from the Ukraine until such a time as this was done.

The transcript makes it clear enough that this one was akin to a mob-boss shakedown: do this for us, and we’ll continue to offer you support. This particular part was rather telling:

“I will say that we do a lot for Ukraine. We spend a lot of effort and a lot of time… I wouldn’t say that it’s reciprocal necessarily because things are happening that are not good, but the United States has been good to the Ukraine.”

Does that or does that not sound like a veiled threat: we’re being good to you now, but that could change at any moment. Particularly when we come to this:

“I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows lots about it… There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney-General would be great.”

Really, Donald? Neither Biden nor his son have been implicated in any wrongdoing - that’s all a slanderous allegation leveled by Trump at Hunter Biden’s participation in business dealings in Ukraine, and neither the Ukraine nor the US found that any wrongdoing had been perpetrated on his part. This is all a smear attempt to get Biden’s name put next to words like ‘corruption’ - as you’ll note Trump has done several times, in the hope that his supporters buy into it.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Office of the President of the United States. It has nothing to do with serving the country. This one’s all about Donald Trump, and his re-election bid. He’s terrified that Biden might gain the Democratic nomination for the 2020 Presidential election, because the polls place Biden well ahead in that particular race, and his previous executive and political experience far eclipse that of Trump. As was done with Clinton, Trump knows that his best shot at winning is to smear Biden sufficiently that independents stay home on election day, meaning that his support from the Republican Base alone is sufficient to re-elect him.

In reality, however, we’re seeing Trump yet again drawing in a foreign nation and using them in an attempt to influence a Presidential election. Doing so as a private citizen was one thing - doing so while President of the United States is a clear and shocking violation of his Oath of Office.

Impeachment is the only possible recourse here.

Very well stated :applaud

Trumpers have no clue what being Conservative is. If they did, he'd have been impeached yesterday.

You seem confused. That isn't his avatar and your picture actually has nothing to do with his avatar. Why are you obsessing over Mrs. Clinton?

Sometimes people just can't help who they are attracted too...

The Fletch Treatment:

Ah, you have very cleverly edited down a post you quoted to nothing, then declared victory! Mate in .....well negative one then!

How about actually addressing what he and I said, in detail, honestly, and directly? Able?

No, he is actually not able. It's a bitter psychological mindset that saw his kind fall over neo-Nazis and white supremacists on their way to vote for an immoral, middle-finger toting asshole in the Republican Primaries. Later, they would try to exonerate themselves by trying to argue that it was either Trump or Clinton, but this is a lie when one considers that Trump received almost double the votes of his closest Republican competitor in the Primaries. And they have sought to talk away or simply ignore every bad decision and all poor behavior ever since.

This is the price of their dedication to blindly support broken ideologies and anything that is not "the left." These are the people who rejected the notion of healthier school lunches and chose to use tomato paste as their modern representation of the Boston Tea Party. They have abandoned their common sense, rationality, and reason and replaced it with a culture of irrationality within a cult that worships a demagogue. Their absurd FOX-designed hatred has left them with a man like Donald Trump to prove loyalty to and they pretend that he is a gift from God. They are walking examples of "God wills it!" When faced with facts and context they seek technicalities and loop holes to toss the baby with the bath water just to protect a man who would bend them over if it made another laugh. Literally, Trump denigrated one of his cult members at one of his pathetic rallies, in front of family and the world, and then he immediately told reporters that he "still loves Trump." Know why? Because he is not "the left."

I just saw a poll that 60% of declared Republicans are more loyal to trump than the Republican party...

Trumpers have no clue what being Conservative is. If they did, he'd have been impeached yesterday.

They have certainly lost the plot along the way.

When one considers that, for years, they witnessed one ideology after another get exposed for the con-games and expired messes they were, on top of a black man going to the White House, they swim in bitterness and hatred. Along the way, the GOP and FOX News used extremist rhetoric and nasty politics to lead them away from science and reason, thereby moving Liberals closer to being correct every time. Of course, this only further enraged the already irrationally enraged. It's only fitting that it was the GOP that begged its Conservative base not to vote for Trump, a man who merely captured all of that seething hatred and irrationality in mindless slogans like "lock her up" or "build a wall." By the way, have you read that the Border Patrol has already apprehended the largest number of migrants crossing the southwest border since 2007? And all without an expensive, obnoxious, and unnecessary wall. Amazing what happens when people actually do their jobs. Anyway, the GOP had lost control of the mob in 2016 that they created; and now they mostly run scared of offending that base if they dare criticize Trump. Notice that most GOP Republicans don't actually publicly support him. They remain silent. Trump merely represents the Conservative middle finger to the world, after years of busted ideologies, and they simply do not care to think beyond their illusions.

"America First" is what gets me. Here is a man who has reduced American influence in virtually every region on the planet, has boldly and childishly insulted allies, has been caught using the military and foreign governments to salvage failing businesses, has given his own elitist kind permanent tax-cuts, has moved America further away from global leadership than Obama did, has injured true professionals who placed the country above his personal needs to sooth ego, has embraced dictators as friends with special bonds even as they make a fool of him, and has tried to use foreign governments to do harm upon American citizens to salvage his personal political career and White House residency....yet the faithful can't see that they are actually worshiping "Trump first."

They keep cherry picking the criminal stuff to look at.

Why don’t they investigate the great stuff, like Trumps infrastructure plan?

I'm sure this is accurate enough, though I would place money on that number being higher. The GOP has proven to be scared. Those who publicly support Trump are obnoxious in their zeal to celebrate lower standards, thereby showing an act. We know it is an act because when Trump demands that they lower standards even more from one issue to the next, they get quieter until they can emerge again over something that is less decrepit. Those who always remain silent do not want to risk their political careers and are quietly hoping to see an end to Trump, one way or another.

Our government leadership consists of an Executive and his FOX News engineered ignorant base. All those elected in between are just in the way. This is actually dangerously funny, considering that Trump has become fond of denigrating FOX News now too. The fans are really at a loss as they head further right, away from the GOP center, for their propaganda. I tell people all the time, the comparison between Adolph Hitler and Donald Trump is not proper at all. But the comparison between Germany's 1930s Conservatives and today's America Conservatives is. It's uncanny.

[emoji849]

Um...because avoiding 97% so that you can focus on 3% is foolish? See that serial killer over there? He has real pretty hair, huh? Don't worry about the criminal stuff.

Besides, his infrastructure plan is all rhetoric. He announced it within hours of winning the election in 2016, and then immediately went to work undoing Obama-era protections and giving permanent tax-cuts to the wealthy. And after the Democrats won back the House he went into raging about border walls. And with an estimated $1.5 trillion or $2 trillion price tag, as reported months ago, he probably shouldn't have significantly reduced government revenue like that (then significantly increased government spending months later) . He's a populist and an endeavor like an infrastructure plan got in the way of reminding people that they need to love him at every turn.

In the meantime, Trump's "infrastructure plan" is merely the distraction that Republicans are pushing right now and what FOX News wants its viewers to focus on. Considering that you want people not to focus on the "criminal stuff," it seems to be working on some of you. The widely debunked Biden thing didn't work, so now they are pushing the illusive "infrastructure plan." After two+ years, it's a bit late to pretend that something good from Trump might happen with the little bit of time he has allowed himself to have left.

You post a link where anonymous sources tell us what the guy is going to say before he says it. We wont get to hear what he says because the interview will be held in secret. And what is claimed to be his testimony is meaningless. What would you like to discuss here?

You would not have the slightest clue if the answer were supplied to you in the simplest terms possible. ;)

Sit down and listen to the discussion. You might actually learn something for a change. :)

A non sequitur is a logical fallacy. If you want the logic to be followed, you will have to use it.

Well it wasn't a non-sequitor, troll.

Got any opinion on the issue at hand, or you gonna just keep trolling?

He plans on hiring the same contractors that worked on the the hard Rock hotel to rebuild our Infrastructure, a d then true to form, not pay them...

I one hundred percent agree, particularly your last sentence...

Oh, bull dookie. You are actually trying to pretend that you aren't smarter than this? The entire transcript revolved around Zelenskyy kissing Trump's ass for American support against Russia; and Trump making him aware that he needed that support while pushing for an investigation into the widely debunked Biden crap. Trump brought Biden up immediately after Zelenskyy asked for more defense support, with the idea that Zelenskyy knew that the money was locked down a week prior. Trump's incompetent clan didn't even handle his own scandal correctly. But let's face another bit of common sense here...

- After locking down the money, why would Trump think that Zelenskyy would simply "do us a favor?"

Do you actually think that Trump thought that Zelenskyy wouldn't care about the money in his zeal to do Trump a solid? Or is it more likely that the man who prides himself on "the art of the deal" thought that he had Zelenskyy over a barrel by locking down that needed support? You are wanting to separate the words of the transcript from the context of the situation, but Trump's treacherous intentions were clear and this is exactly why he chose to use a loyal ambassador, who had nothing to do with Ukraine, and a personal lawyer, who has no business in American diplomacy. And along the way, he got rid of a career Ambassador to Ukraine with the idea that she might oppose what he intended to do. He knew what he was doing and to enforce this awareness, he issued spin instructions of the transcript to his Republican supporters. Surely you are at least as smart as Donald Trump, who knew exactly what he was doing. I refuse to believe that you honestly don't see the obvious that everybody else, to include Republicans, clearly sees.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a President who thought he could win re-election based on his merits and historical record? But he knows this is a disaster too. Again, despite Trump's and Giuliani's obsession for conspiracy theories, nobody in the White House or in Congress cared about the widely debunked Biden thing over the two year period that the GOP owned Washington. This all began the moment Biden got support from the largest Fire Fighter's union in the country and his popularity began to grow. His nasty, childish Tweets went into overdrive and he began focusing on how to create dirt.

C'mon. Don't be this person.

There has been an investigation into the origins of the Russia probe since early this year. A prosecutor has been assigned and a Grand Jury formed.
Was there anything illicit in the Obama Admin putting pressure on Ukraine to achieve an American objective? Beats me. That's what investigations are for. Its not even clear to what extent that policy as enunciated by Biden in his famous tape has to do with it.
But whether an investigation benefits Trump and harms Biden is of no relevance.

The evidence is already clear; and the situation is obvious. Since there was no good reason offered for her being fired, one must look at the other reasons why a career diplomat would be fired. The reason Ive heard and that she said herself in her written statement was that Trump was told she was saying negative things about him. Would Trump fire someone for that do you think?
