Trump loses appeal to stop House subpoena of his tax documents - CNNPolitics
President Donald Trump on Friday lost his appeal to stop a House subpoena of his tax documents from his longtime accountant Mazars USA.

In a 2-1 ruling, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a lower court ruling saying the firm must turn over eight years of accounting records.
I feel really bad for Trump. He's a morally upstanding guy with absolutely nothing to hide. It's a witch hunt I tell ya, a witch hunt!

It's going to funny when the tax returns are leaked to the media and some Democrats get hit with a felony.

What's going to be funny is seeing Trump in a NY courtroom as a defendant for tax fraud and /or money laundering. And I'd wager that is going to happen however and whenever he leaves office.

As funny as when Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen flipped on Trump and also ended up in Federal prison?
Maybe as funny as his campaign chairman dragged off to prison to serve a big fat federal prison sentence? (and continue to sow corruption with Rudy?)
Or was it Michael Flynn, the national security advisor who lied to FBI agents in his attempt to hide facts in the Russia investigation?
Possibly the two corrupt idiots from Trump's Puerto Rico FEMA who just got picked up on bribery charges? Wasn't Puerto Rico that was corrupt, it was Trump's FEMA!!
Could be as funny as the two Ukranian mobster types just arrested...guys who were working with Rudy and seen dining with Trump and Trump's son, etc.

No apdst, I'm all out of laughs at this point, I'd have to cheer it rather than laugh. They will just get pardoned by the next Democratic president in 2020. Worth it. That's how Republicans roll. Look at poor Flynn and Manafort angling for that pardon...

How in the world was it a 2-1 decision? What kind of an idiot judge doesn't think that congress is allowed to investigate a president?

I guess “because I don’t wanna” is a better legal case than we thought.

As they should. But we know you love leaks when it deals with a dem president.

"Thus, I would find that this subpoena exceeds the legislative power of Congress because it seeks to uncover wrongdoing by the President." <--- Trump appointee

"It'll be funny when people I disagree with politically commit a nonexistent crime at some unforeseen point in the future and are found guilty of such crime in a hypothetical court case!" - very stable resident forum genius' great and unmatched wisdom

Even funnier will be when there's nothing there. The great unmatched wisdom is that you think they're going to find emoluments violations...lol

Wow, in your great and unmatched wisdom, you appear to know more about this case than career investigators who have direct access to evidence and witnesses. Truly a (stable) genius at work here.

I didn’t read all of the dissent, but what I did see sounded like every trump supporter argument I’ve ever seen on this forum.

That's not it at all. He's so very rich if it were to come to light he wouldn't be able to play the victim card and tell his base about how difficult his life has been. Plus he might be seen as an elite, which his base isn't. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Still has the SCOTUS, but that may not pan out.

Can't wait for the leaks, which will put the extremely limited number of people who will be allowed access to them to be jailed.

There won’t be leaks. This isn’t like leaking a page of dialogue from a Game of Thrones episode.

Trump and the Trump organization has been audited several times by the IRS. What makes you think all of a sudden there is going to be something turn up?

More to the point, the obsession over the returns confirms the gullible don't have a clue what these tax returns show.

The fools in the New Democratic Party keep opening more lids on Pandora's Box.

The reign of terror that will come back to haunt them will be catastrophic.

Don't pop the cork yet...there are still a lot of court decisions to be made before the Dems get their hands on Trump's private tax records.

Just one, actually, and it’s not certain that it will even be taken up on appeal.

To me, this is the big problem that trump faces. Not the impeachment or even removal from office. It's the SDNY that holds the really serious threat to trump and they seem to be getting their ducks in a row for the day he leaves office for whatever reason. Impeachment or voted out they'll be waiting.

Nope.

Next step will be a decision by the full panel of judges in that court and then the Supremes. And you are dreaming if you think there won't be more appeals.

Well said.

What court would trump appeal to after SCOTUS?
