White House Declares War on Impeachment Inquiry, Alleging Effort to Undo Trump’s Election

WASHINGTON — The White House declared war on the House impeachment inquiry on Tuesday, announcing that it would not cooperate with what it called an illegitimate and partisan effort “to overturn the results of the 2016 election” of Donald J. Trump.

In a letter to House Democratic leaders, the White House said the inquiry violated precedent and President Trump’s due process rights in such an egregious way that neither he nor the executive branch would willingly provide testimony or documents, a daring move that sets the stage for a constitutional clash.

“Your unprecedented actions have left the president with no choice,” said the eight-page letter signed by Pat A. Cipollone, the White House counsel. “In order to fulfill his duties to the American people, the Constitution, the Executive Branch, and all future occupants of the Office of the presidency, President Trump and his administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances.”

So Trump is now openly obstructing a congressional investigation.

And yet another impeachable offense...

Trump is completely out of control, he has declared himself above the law, openly committing crimes and defying congress.

How can any true American condone this action???

So Trump is now openly obstructing a congressional investigation.

Best explanation I've found thus far. twump hasn't a single credible legal leg to stand on.

Neal Katyal on Twitter: "How inane. You don't get to block impeachment just b/c you don't like it. To review the bidding, Trump says he

*Can't be indicted when he commits crimes
*Can't even be investigated for his commission of crimes, AND
*Can't be impeached either

So he's saying in effect he's a King… https://t.co/hEYp7HE1ge"

So Trump is now openly obstructing a congressional investigation.

And daring Republicans to do their jobs.

I'm pretty sure the Republicans had to turn their testicles in to the White House when Trump took office.

twump sycophants and conservatives in general feel more comfy be ruled over by a strong father/king figure rather than being free citizens.

Or is think for themselves for that matter...

Lets see if we can get so worked up we can convince Pelosi to convince the Dems in Trump territory to put their political life on the line with vote for impeachment.

call me after impeachment vote...

Non Compos Mentis

Trump, the WH, his lawyers, and his supporters are basically lawless thugs at this point, thumbing their nose at the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the whole idea of our Republic.

Everything der trumpengroper did was to protect himself, even get fratbroflake Kavanaugh on the bench.

Do you think congress should be a co-equal branch of government as outlined in the constitution?

So Trump is now openly obstructing a congressional investigation.
But neither the White House nor the President have the power to declare war.

Trump, the WH, his lawyers, and his supporters are basically lawless thugs at this point, thumbing their nose at the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the whole idea of our Republic.

This is the same party that tried to get through the unitary executive, handing insane amounts of power to the presidency. The gop talks big about freeberty but the moment a strong man gets into office or a war starts, they will stop tootin that horn quickly.

Do you think congress should be a co-equal branch of government as outlined in the constitution?

Absolutely, which means they'll have to throttle back a good bit on the powers they think they have.

Do you think Trump should be able investigate Schiff as a co-equal branch of government?

Why did you avoid answering the question? Do you think that they should be or not?

Absolutely, which means they'll have to throttle back a good bit on the powers they think they have.

They have the power to subpoena documents. The powers they're using are the powers they have.

So the Dems are finding out the wild geese they've chosen to chase can turn and chase back. Good.
