GOP donors are reportedly encouraging Mitt Romney to primary Trump

You expect trump supporters to care about statesmanship? They don't. They aren't smart enough to know how adults and executives are supposed to act. I suspect that's because most of them don't interface with executives, and their idea of a statesman is based on their experience as McDonald's fry cooks and how the store manager behaves.

Let's not forget that it was Democrats in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania who elected Trump president. Part of that was because they were tired of the same ole statesmanship that previous presidents used to get trodden on by every other world leader.

Gee, does Romney have any experience running for president? :3oops:

Not exactly sure how the GOP would gain from passing the torch from a sitting president running for reelection to someone who lost a presidential election.

Yup. In 2010 and even 2012 Republicans ran a red tsunami all over Democrats nationwide and yet Romney couldn't ride that wave into the White House at a time when Republicans were winning everywhere.

I think its important to watch this thread because if the GOP does break with Trump, this might be the fault line. It will be interesting to watch develop.

Keep in mind the GOP leadership wanted nothing to do with Trump for the longest time until he forced them to give up their convictions and morals and swear allegiance to Trump.

Cruz, Rubio, Ryan, McConnell, Riebus, Pence, Hatch, to name a few. They will support Trump even though he is a **** stain on the presidency. They will ignore his crimes. As much as they are starting to whisper, they will shut up and fall in line by November.

Maybe he just didn't hate minorities or mock family values and veterans enough to really motivate the base. Maybe if Romney paid for more sex and mocked more vets he would have done better.

Values.

Wait...they want a man that literally wanted to chain black people up in trees to run for president against Trump????

That seems unwise.

What the hell are you talking about? That's what I don't get from you lefties. You honestly believe that white supremacist nazis elected Trump president of the United States. They had nothing to do with it. It was Democrats in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who elected Trump president.

Right because people who respect women naturally would vote for a man who sexually assaulted dozens of women.
People who respect family values would naturally feel compelled to vote for a man who admittedly has cheated on multiple wives, and been caught paying for sex with porn stars.
People who value diversity, who aren't racist, would naturally vote for the most racist candidate.
People who respect the criminal justice system would naturally vote for the guy who has the shadiest past, and would continue to support a man who is breaking laws as we speak.
People who respect our election process would of course blindly stand by a man who invites, and even tries to force foreign governments into interfering.
Of course people who respect what our armed forces do gladly applaud when they are mocked.
Let's not forget about those who value integrity yet worship the single most dishonest politician in US history.

I could go on for a while like this. But I'm not going to.

And in the interest of time let me save you some time and cover your response.

"Nah uh"

You are welcome.

Latest polling by Trump University suggests that 150% of Republicans stand by Trump, it's YUGE, like nothing anyone has ever seen!

Must be due to those dead republicans that haven't been purged from the polling data records.

That is all true enough.
I wonder, though, have those people had enough of this new form of statesmanship? That is the real question.

I don't think the hideously-corrupt business organization known as the Trump-era Republican Party will ever allow ANYONE a chance at dethroning President Trump in a primary. What Romney should do, if he were smart, is run third-party. Split the GOP vote to prevent Trump winning in 2020. Put country above party. Weld should also run a strong challenge to Trump, and peel off some of those libertarians, whose votes Trump does NOT deserve, and run third-party as well. A Romney/Weld 2020 independent run would cripple Trump, and the Dem can finish him off.

Yeah, let Romney run because we all know how popular he is with conservatives and how much he bends over backwa- I mean how bipartisan he is. Of course he'll do fine against whoever the Democrat nominee is because he's done so well in Republican presidential primaries. Granted he lost to Obama, BUT HE'D GIVE TRUMP A RUN FOR HIS MONEY (even though he didn't get the conservative support he needed to defeat Obama because he was seen as too moderate, but let's overlook that fact among others).

Yes, because our presence on the world stage today is just oh so wonderful. Look how much everyone respects us.

Or not.

Think of it this way. People voted Trump president because they were tired of the same ole same ole. Assuming they now don't like Trump, do you think voter's original thoughts have changed? They still don't want the same ole same ole even if they don't want Trump. They don't want to go back to establishment and dynasties and they still don't want the swamp.

Trump has done several things with foreign countries and NATO that made the US better. The presidency is not a likeable contest.

"Several things".

I'll bet you get excited when you think about voting for him again next year.

The country is going in the right direction. So, yes, I am excited about keeping the country going in the right direction.

I keep getting bad info, I heard somewhere that a president needed more than 46 ec votes. And I also have been greatly misinformed about the populations of those 3 states. I had no idea those 3 states have over 40 million residents.

What is the lie?

Seeing as Cloudstrike was the topic. I don't think it was time to keep towing the "he told them to investigate Biden" line. We've already been through this enough.

Most of us are just tired of this damn story now.

That's because stupid Republicans voted for Trump. The smart ones voted for Kasich. My husband voted for Kasich in NH. I was torn and in the end voted for Rubio. I wish I had voted for Kasich. He came in second here to Trump.

Trump supporters won't support Kasich. They are too ignorant.

No conservative would ever vote for Kasich. He is a liberal in disguise running as a republican.
He support illegal immigration and amnesty.
He put more burden on his taxpayers by expanding medicaid for all people.
He supports gun control and banning the sale of legal guns to legal people.

So no if you want to vote for kasich then just vote democrat.

You can deflect all you want. It was Democrats in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who elected Trump president. You seem to believe that the popular votes of California and New York elect the president, same thinking Hillary had.

That is pretty good for you. A whole 5 pages before you cried about your obsession with Hillary. Go have yourself a cookie.

There are almost no reason that could be given where I would not vote for the Republican for President in the general election. Mitt Romney being the candidate is one of those.
