The President of the United States pressuring a foreign government to help undermine an investigation into himself. Specifically, to undermine the results of the probe and therefore any findings of Russian interference and obstruction of justice.

Am I the only one seeing a pattern here?

WASHINGTON — President Trump pushed the Australian prime minister during a recent telephone call to help Attorney General William P. Barr gather information for a Justice Department inquiry that Mr. Trump hopes will discredit the Mueller investigation, according to two American officials with knowledge of the call.

The White House restricted access to the call’s transcript to a small group of the president’s aides, one of the officials said, an unusual decision that is similar to the handling of a July call with the Ukrainian president that is at the heart of House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into Mr. Trump. Like that call, the discussion with Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia shows the extent to which Mr. Trump sees the attorney general as a critical partner in his goal to show that the Mueller investigation had corrupt and partisan origins, and the extent that Mr. Trump sees the Justice Department inquiry as a potential way to gain leverage over America’s closest allies.

How perfect do you suppose this call was?

This is absolutely astounding. I can see now that people are going to be coming forward with information they previously withheld because of their fear of Trump. Now that it appears the evidence against him is piling up rapidly and they're watching the ship slowly starting to sink while they're standing on the deck. The first of many are rushing to grab a deck chair to prevent them from drowning while they can and save themselves. The only reason any president would attempt to interfere with a government agency doing an investigation is because they're guilty of some kind of criminal behavior.

'All the President's Men' was a good film but that was about Watergate, a scandal that took down a president and many others that were complicit. But this isn't Watergate, there's nothing to compare to this global corruption in concert with other foreign countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia. Trump is calling Adam Schiff a traitor but in fact that's only gaslighting because he's the traitor here.

MSM unleashed....RussiaGate II

Paywall so I can't really respond directly. However, the Democrats spent two and a half years investigating every aspect of Trump's campaign and possible coordination with Russia. They came up with nothing and Trump never had an opportunity to respond to the absurd accusations. Once the Mueller investigation concluded it was decided that some of the accusers that prompted the two and half year waste of time should be investigated themselves. That actually sounds rather fair to me. If you guys get to piss away more than two years looking into Trump then it's only fair that Trump gets to spend a couple of months looking into you.

Democrats, however, aren't going to allow that investigation to happen. They're going to impeach Trump and drag Barr through the mud. Then, when they take power in 2021, Kavanaugh will be impeached. By 2023 they'll have half the country under investigation for thought crimes.

Im not so sure the New York Times is not lying. They have forsaken journalism for the soap box.

We have had nothing but “unnamed sources” for three years spinning carpets out of threads of wool.

What's really good about this is that it will take pressure off of the first WB. If everybody starts coming out at once, then it becomes that much more difficult for trump to focus all his ire at one person.

How perfect do you think this lie is?

Any and every conversation Trump ever had with world leaders can now be called "shaking down the leader of a foreign nation" by the media and their "credible sources" because we all know that Trump will not release any other phone transcripts.

The usual mantra from the left: proof that what I'm saying is wrong.

remember same rhetoric coming from ...wait til Mueller Report comes out...Trump is gone:roll:

Don't forget about the IRS whistleblower too. That complaint is about to be released as well.

Once the dam sprung a leak, there was no fixing it.

You know, talking in Starbucks there was a group of us discussing this whole shebang, you know what everyone on all sides agreed on...that Trump needs to shut the hell up. He's going to sink himself

It may be that Richard Neal's fecklessness will come to be an asset. Right now, you need to keep up pressure, and suddenly dropping the IRS whistleblower complaint around, say, next week, would be pretty useful.

letting Media and democrats frame the argument while you shut up...didn't work for Romney....didn't work for McCain...didn't work for Bush Reagan Nixon.

fighting back is how you take the power away from liars

I'm glad Trump is asking Australia for help (remember Downer?)...just like I'm glad Barr is in Italy. (remember Mifsud?)

Dominoes will fall.

Oh look, it was Barr's idea.

President Trump initiated the discussion in recent weeks with Mr. Morrison explicitly for the purpose of requesting Australia’s help in the Justice Department review of the Russia investigation, according to the two people with knowledge of the discussion. Mr. Barr requested that Mr. Trump speak to Mr. Morrison, one of the people said. It came only weeks after Mr. Trump seemed to make military aid to Ukraine contingent on Mr. Zelensky doing him the “favor” of helping Mr. Barr with his work.

Barr not recusing himself will itself become a major scandal.

Just another brick in the wall.......- PF

Him tweetering is what has gotten him in deep to begin with. If he listened to his advisors, fires Guliani and let the pros do the gameplan for him, he might be able to dig his way out. I said he needs to shut up, not that he shouldn't have folks like Pompeo argue for him.

The Intel Committee will be interviewing the WB, his testimony will result in other leads, then we shall see more subpoenas.

Note - this will not be wrapped up by Thanksgiving.

Barr directly over targets flak getting heavy...

did you see Brennan's tweet over the weekend soliciting more Whistle Blowers?
