1. This article is making contentions about Trump's phone call that are not supported by the transcript.

U.S. President Donald Trump asked Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in July to probe whether Joe Biden tried to block an investigation into his son’s relationship with the company, which was drilling for gas in Ukraine.

This is what Trump actually said:​

The other thing, there's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me.

As you can see, Trump didn't ask for any investigation into the Biden family. He asked Zelenskiy to provide whatever help he might have to our AG. And, Trump didn't ask Zelenskiy to investigate Burisma at all so there was no pressure from Trump regarding any such investigation.​

2. The time frame of Hunter Biden's involvement with Burisma is irrelevant to any concern Trump had, since Trump's concern was with the actions of Hunter's father. Trump said nothing to Zelenskiy about investigating Burisma...or Hunter, for that matter. Any action Ukraine takes concerning Burisma...whether it involves before, during or after Hunter worked for them...is entirely the decision of Ukraine.

Also of note, Zelenskiy expressed to Trump that he is very concerned about corruption in his country and that he will do whatever he can to address that issue and he also asked Trump's help in his efforts.

3. One more point: In regard to any US investigation into possible criminal action by VP Biden, it doesn't matter if Hunter was involved with Burisma during the timeframe that Burisma was being investigated or not. What matters is that Hunter was involved with that company when Biden applied his billion dollar pressure.

So...don't get too excited about the news in this article. Besides the factually incorrect information it contains, the point the article makes is irrelevant.

Wouldn't it be crazy, if instead of just the phonecall, both Trump and Zelensky had some outside understanding of the situation, almost as if Giuliani had been talking about coming to Ukraine for a good while beforehand. You know, back when he wasn't "Meddling in an election" he was "Meddling in an investigation"

I will personally tell you that one of my assistants spoke with Mr. Giuliani just recently and we are hoping very much that Mr. Giuliani will be able to travel to Ukraine and we will meet once he comes to Ukraine. -Zelensky

Good because I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved. Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to call you. I will ask him to call you along with the Attorney General. Rudy very much knows what's happening and he is a very capable guy. If you could speak to him that would be great.

Not exactly.

In 2016 Ukraine was due to receive $1 billion in an installment of an IMF loan, but in the months prior the IMF complained that Ukrainian corruption was so pervasive they didn't want to hand it over because they didn't believe it would be to any good use.

Which is where Biden came in. One of the biggest problems in Ukraine was the Prosecutor General was refusing to investigate cases of corruption within Ukraine, to the point where people were protesting and demanding his resignation.

Biden is indeed bragging, because he's stretching the truth; it wasn't US aid money (US aid to Ukraine was $500 million), it was an IMF loan, and he wasn't the only one doing it. Most of western Europe, Ukrainian anti-corruption groups, and the IMF all wanted Shokin fired.

I wasn't speculating, simply presenting rhetorical questions I knew the answer too.
Trump and Zelensky have an outside understanding of the situation.
Rudy Giuliani intended to travel to Ukraine to push to reopen the investigation.
Zelensky knows before the call that Trump wants to reopen the investigation.
Trump was talking about Shokin in the paragraph I quoted.

No, he actually forced the Ukraine government to investigate the corruption in the Ukraine government before Hunter Biden was hired to sit on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings. Tthere's nothing concrete to support the suggestion Biden pressured Ukraine to take actions to the benefit of his son.
