This is why it's so hard to discuss climate change with a yeasayer. You ask a simple question about whether the price of shrimp is going up faster than inflation and you get a tapdance full of "if"s and "in all likelihood" but scrupulously avoids giving you a direct answer.
A simple, "no the price of shrimp is not skyrocketing" is all you needed to say. Even admitting it's not showing any sign of skyrocketing yet along with the doom and gloom would have been nice. But why muddy the message?
In fact the website I checked shows increases in the price of shrimp has lagged behind other meat products like beef and lamb. But I suppose they'll be out of reach for me too in what, 20-30 years? LOL. It's always 20-30 years. Soon enough to generate fear but far enough away that no one will remember if it turns out to be complete BS (like all the past ones).
No shrimp today: Maine's waters are warming and it's costing fishermen money Scientists: Cancel Maine Shrimp Season Again Because Of Rising Ocean Temperatures – ThinkProgress Warming Oceans May Threaten Krill, a Cornerstone of the Antarctic Ecosystem - The New York Times New England shrimp won't be available at all this year From the first link
Fisherman are on the front lines and seeing the effects.Maine's fishing industry has been declining for years due to factors like overfishing and increased regulation, but there's another culprit eating away at profits: Maine's ocean waters are warming -- and it's killing northern shrimp.
