A US President using his office to pressure a foreign country to interfere in our election.

President Trump in a July phone call repeatedly pressured the president of Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's son, urging Volodymyr Zelensky about eight times to work with Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer, on a probe, according to people familiar with the matter.

"He told him that he should work with [Mr. Giuliani] on Biden, and that people in Washington wanted to know" whether allegations were true or not, one of the people said. Mr. Trump didn't mention a provision of foreign aid to Ukraine on the call, said this person, who didn't believe Mr. Trump offered the Ukrainian president any quid-pro-quo for his cooperation on an investigation.

Mr. Giuliani in June and August met with top Ukrainian officials about the prospect of an investigation, he said in an interview. The Trump lawyer has suggested Mr. Biden as vice president worked to shield from investigation a Ukrainian gas company with ties to his son, Hunter Biden. A Ukrainian official earlier this year said he had no evidence of wrongdoing by Mr. Biden or his son.

After the July call between the two presidents, the Ukrainian government said Mr. Trump had congratulated the new president on his election and expressed hope that his government would push ahead with investigations and corruption probes that had stymied relations between the two countries.

Nothing meatloaf.

Asking is pressure? Pressure would be extortion. No quid pro quo.
Why should any President ignore corruption just because the subject in question happens to have his hat in the 2020 race?

Trump has a startling habit of turning nothing into something. He just cannot help but make himself look guilty. And he still does not seem to understand that, guilty of another crime or not, obstructing Congressional investigations is an impeachable offense.

I was just tired of burgers that the Trump ass kissers offer all the time.

It was OK for the Obama admin to investigate Trump ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign so whats the problem here? Dont you want to know if Biden is corrupt before you nominate him?

What if Ukraine had been recording that call? (Hint: they were.) What if they then told Trump that if he didn't give them something they wanted, they would release that recording to the public during the 2020 election?

Biden's son isn't running for office. Beyond that, according to officials familiar with the situation (sorry, couldn't resist) what Trump did was offer help investigate Biden' son's illegal activities and possible actions of Biden in the situation. No truth to the rumor that Trump wanted to send Bob Mueller to Ukraine to head up the investigation, though.

Trump is aware that his calls are never private and what is alleged about Trump seems to comport with his Article II powers.

Impeachment is a political and which works both ways.
'obstructing' a Congressional investigation only works so far as Congress actually turns up something.
Then Congress bears a political responsibility for, as Trump puts it, "harassment."

Congress is also politically responsible for their actions.

The founders sent men dancing on the gibbet for less than what Trump is alleged to have done.

Trump should be aware of this. But seriously: What if what I said happened? What if we were having this conversation a week before the election? Do you think this would influence Trump to give Ukraine what they wanted in order to keep that call out of the headlines?

This was the motive of a senior intelligence officer to blow the whistle on that call. Guaranteed.

Alleged. I know it's very fashionable for the Left to get over their skis story after story, but how many times do they have to face plant before they learn to do their job, due diligence and report only on the facts?

LOL Pressure that consists of withholding vital U.S. aid IS extortion. If that is what is verified by the whistle blower will you agree?

Nope, it's called diplomacy.

So withholding evidence makes Trump innocent? What kind of country do you want us to be?

Not sure this falls under "whistle blower" yet. IMO.
You seem to assume Ukraine has something bribe-worthy on Trump and Trump seems extremely confident that they don't-- at least not when it comes to the phone call in question.

Dems stepped in this pile of **** by accident.

So withholding evidence makes Trump innocent? What kind of country do you want us to be?

We have to get a few facts straight before we can make that determination. I want us to be a country where even a former Veep can be investigated for alleged extortion, corruption and abuse of power which protects and enriches his own son.

Good that people know what Trump is up to...trashing the presidency as usual, but it doesn't look criminal.

WSJ latest reporting is NO quid pro quo.
