Trump’s communications with foreign leader are part of whistleblower complaint that spurred standoff

*To mods... story is an MSN link but a repost by them of a Washington Post story. I'm hoping this can be a way Washington Post's paywall won't block the story.

Trump’s communications with foreign leader are part of whistleblower complaint that spurred standoff between spy chief and Congress, former officials say

The whistleblower complaint that has triggered a tense showdown between the U.S. intelligence community and Congress involves President Trump’s communications with a foreign leader, according to two former U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a “promise” that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community, said the officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

The speculation is that trump promised Putin something about the spy we just heard about that had to be extracted from Russia.

There is also speculation of it being about it being a promise of removing money that helped Europe push back on Russia's incursion into Ukraine.

Now there is executive obstruction... yet again... this time to break the law that this whistleblower's claim be handed over to congress within 7 days.

"Corruption in the flesh" indeed.

This is just terrible! Can’t Trump at least have some privacy when he sucks up to Putin?

Well, that's as clear as mud. Maybe the President promised $150 billion, delivered under cover of night, in exchange for... uhh... nothing. Are you sure they are talking about the right President?

This 2019....

Yes, the left likes to throw mud against the wall, with no evidence, and then go on as if it proves something.

Look at Trump's behaviors-his erraticisms, inability to be focused among others, his waffling, his money history with Russia, the very nice things he has said about some dictators especially the Russian one, what would the conclusion be?

There is something in Trump's make-up that some people find disturbing.

As a side bar, the Saudis no doubt have become livid with Trump as he has been very quiet on the attacks of their oil fields.
The one semi-bright spot for him is the current state of the economy that he has attempted to take full credit for despite the fact the economy began its upturn in 2010-Obama's presidency.

Lol, that's cute. You think you understand the Uranium One deal. Let me ask you two important pieces of trivia about it.

How many tons of uranium does the USA produce each year? How many tons of uranium does Uranium One produce each year?

You can find the answers to both those questions, on this page.

I know that the US doesn't produce enough uranium for our own needs. Yet Obama and Hillary gave (sold) control of 20% if it to a hostel foreign nation. So if the deal did not benefit the US than who did benefit?

Try again with answering my questions yah? It's not hard, just two numbers, you'll find them in the first and third tables. Might alter your perspective a bit, and if they don't I'll fill you in further.

The 26th will be interesting.

Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson determined that the complaint was credible and troubling enough to be considered a matter of “urgent concern,” a legal threshold that ordinarily requires notification of congressional oversight committees.

But acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire has refused to share details about Trump’s alleged transgression with lawmakers, touching off a legal and political dispute that has spilled into public and prompted speculation that the spy chief is improperly protecting the president.

The dispute is expected to escalate Thursday when Atkinson is scheduled to appear before the House Intelligence Committee in a classified session closed to the public. The hearing is the latest move by committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) to compel U.S. intelligence officials to disclose the full details of the whistleblower complaint to Congress.

Maguire has agreed to testify before the committee next week, according to a statement by Schiff. He declined to comment for this story.

Atkinson determined that what he learned is worse than what we already know. Let that sink in.

Trump as President has been the worst thing to ever happen to Putin. Because of Obama and Hillary Russia controls 20% of US uranium. So who did Putin want to become President?

LOL Under Trump, Putin is winning at everything he does. He has annexed Venezuela and their world'd largest oil reserves without a peep out of the moron, he continues to harass Ukraine unmolested in fact he has had sanctions reduced. His sham elections in Moscow went as planned again without a peep out of Komrade Trump. Putin has him in his pocket for sure and I know you don't care. We are so sorry but we are not going to let Trump hand over the U.S. to Putin. It's not happening. Trump belongs in prison without parole .

BTW We import 91% of our yearly Uranium needs and U1 (which WAS Canadian owned) actually produced less than 1% of that. It's a commodity like pork belly's...nothing more.

How much uranium has the Russian company removed to outside the borders of the U.S.? How much do they intend to remove? The fact that you do not know the answers to these questions means you are too ignorant of the subject to participate in a discussion.

You might want to go back to arguing that Hillary ran pedophile ring in the basement of a pizza joint. You'll have more credibility there.

But... But... The Trump admin passed 5 rounds of sanctions against Russia. It doesn't matter that the largest one was passed, veto proof, by Congress and Trump called it deeply flawed. Three were passed without needing Trump's signature by Commerce and Treasury, and the one that Trump willingly signed only effected 13 people and one company, and none had anywhere near the impact of the sanctions passed by Obama. And Trump gave an order that killed some Russians one time, even though he thought there were no Russians in the area. Truly Trump is Putin's worst nightmare.

Oh, I looked on your link. It proves my point. It doesn't defend Obama and Hillary from charges of stupidity and corruption it only enhances them.

Just take the "L" you lost on this one.

Stop changing the subject -- especially with a narrative that has been completely discredited.
Justice Department Contradicts Republican Claims on Uranium One

The Facts on Uranium One

For this and other reasons, we have written that Trump is wrong to claim that Clinton “gave away 20 percent of the uranium in the United States” to Russia. Clinton could have objected — as could the eight other voting members — but that objection alone wouldn’t have stopped the sale of the stake of Uranium One to Rosatom.

Thank God for the layers on layers of protections that even the king of corruption can't beat. Our ancestors did well.

Prediction: we will learn something horrible. Conservatives will be aghast and his approval will drop from 43% to 41%. Perhaps even 40%. After a few days, Conservatives will accept the new baseline and his approval will go back up to 43%. And I know this because it's what happens every single time.

OMG!!! That explains...nothing!

But that's the best kind of breaking news, isn't it? News that says nothing but lets everyone go crazy with unsupported speculation and blindly accepted conclusions.

There was no speculation until the DNI refused to hand over the report to Congress.

I also wanted to add that Uranium One produces more than 300% of the entire USA's output at it's peak, and currently produces more than 700% of the USA's current total. The vast majority of the deposits that the company controls are in Kazakhstan. The deal never had anything to do with US Uranium, getting it wasn't a significant consideration. US uranium deposits are poor quality and expensive to mine, which is why we don't produce much of it. Hillary was one of 9 people on the board that approved the merger, and the guy who donated the Clinton foundation sold his stake in the company years before the merger.

LOL No one cares about Hillary and Obama, it's the traitor in the Whitehouse that is the subject here. If you don't like it move to Russia, you deserve it. Trump is a disgrace to our flag and those that follow him need to get the message. If they still want to be Americans that is. Otherwise they are free to leave if Putin will have you.

For the love of christ, you still believe that completely debunked crap story?

What amazes me is how so many people want to put their own designs on this when we really know jack ****. The President allegedly promised a foreign leader, who, we don't know, something, and people are jumping to their own biased conclusions.

The Dear Leader said it 100's of times. Like Kim Jong-un who invented the school desk so children may learn, Trump's word is gospel to the sheep.

That's what happens when a cover-up is exposed, it implies that there is something worth covering up. You do understand that the DNI director is breaking the law for some reason and the Inspector General is testifying to Congress about the matter being withheld. It's not normal even under Trump.

Not producing enough Uranium domestically for our own needs is a weakness. Giving Putin control over 20% of what we do produce makes us weaker in this area. There was no benefit to the US in this deal. Both the Obama's and the Clintons entered political office poor and left rich, far richer than book deals can account for.
