Isn't it kind of funny how they nearly always have to correct the story in one direction - the one more beneficial to the republican/conservative side?

The right always believed the media was biased. Now even more people realize the media is biased to the left. They might be getting some decent results in the short term, but the damage to the media in the long term is going to be huge.

It's a big deal the NYT left this detail out, but let's be honest, the GOP majority Senate would have never impeached Kavanaugh based solely on the details of this story anyway.

As a moderate who has decided never to vote for Republicans again because of the GOP's embrace of an authoritarian demagogue who habitually lies I can tell you I am not upset because journalists generally try to write accurate information, and when they mess up, they correct their mistakes. Contrast this with the behavior of Trump and his stooges. Also, while this important detail should not have been excluded from their original story, they updated the story very quickly.

And, yes, Democrats, and supporters of Democrats, are mad about this because Democrats still generally care about being honest and accurate.

Hitler was brought up in the OP, via reference to Goebbels, or do you not know who Goebbels is? And by the way I read Goebbels's biography, and he wasn't that great or original. As far as I'm concerned he got most of his ideas about propaganda from Hitler.

Nor is there any evidence that this is a hit piece.

Not that it matters. Other witnesses recorded similar behaviors, and Christine Ford’s testimony was never discredited at all.

And Kavanaugh’s peevish, self righteous belligerence screamed white privilege and entitlement.

It would have ended his candidacy that instant in a normal Congress. But since the GOP is fully invested in protecting Trump, at whatever cost, Senators who would normally have showed Kavanaugh the door, fell in line.

Why is that my fault? And what does what I wrote have to do with being crazy? Trump does stuff he shouldn't be doing all the time, and for which he deserves criticism. How is that crazy? Goebbels was Hitler's right-hand man. So, I don't think I deserve to be criticized for bringing up Hitler. And, by the way, let's get back to the point I was trying to make. The media corrects its mistakes, Trump doesn't. Why does that not bother you? That wasn't a whataboutism, that was a why-isn't-Trump-ever-behaving-like-a-normal-person-ism.

The Times on Saturday published an essay, adapted from a forthcoming book on Kavanaugh authored by two of the paper’s reporters, which revealed a previously unreported episode of alleged sexual impropriety by the justice while he was a student at Yale University in the 1980s.

Max Stier, one of Kavanaugh’s classmates, allegedly saw him “with his pants down” at an alcohol-fueled dormitory party, “where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student,” the Times reported.

Stier, who is now the president and CEO of the nonprofit Partnership for Public Service in Washington, reportedly told U.S. senators and FBI officials about the incident, which the FBI did not investigate, the Times said.

The revelation provoked alarm among national Democrats and calls from several of the party’s presidential candidates to launch impeachment proceedings against Kavanaugh, who was narrowly confirmed to the high court in October 2018 despite testimony by Christine Blasey Ford that he sexually attacked her at a high school party.



Kavanaugh also faced an accusation from Deborah Ramirez, the main subject of the Times essay, who claimed he “thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent” during a drunken party when they were both students at Yale.

But the most recent allegation by Stier came under heightened scrutiny on Sunday when the Times appended a note to its essay clarifying that the female student he referenced declined to be interviewed, and her friends say she does not recall the incident.

There were so many lies and distortions against Kavanaugh's accusers during the confirmation hearings that any attack on one of his accusers must be treated as a boy-who-cries-wolf story. And it's not like the NYT has much credibility any more, either. So I decided to do what anyone should do and look at the text myself.

Get that? It is not the alleged victim herself who claims not to recall the incident. It is her "friends" who are supposedly claiming that she doesn't recall it.

This does not mean that the newest allegation is false. With their latest example of poor reporting, the NYT is effectively making an unclear, emerging story even less clear. :doh
