Guns and ammunition seized from Philadelphia home.

The grenade in the pic was a pineapple grenade it looked like a lighter you buy in a gift shop.

If this guy was suicidal he is one hell of a procrastinator...

The article is so misleading. I mean anybody with any military service could tell that "inert" grenade was harmless, and looks nothing like a real one. What a joke. Procrastinator huh? LMAO I missed that the first time I read your post.:applaud:applaud

Look now - people are missing the point.

Guns are bad, mmm'kay.

And owning them is bad.

Because guns are bad.

Mmm'kay?

Very bad.

Don't be bad.

Mmm'kay?

More subjective nonsense. Let's start here:

Gun ownership in America, in three charts — Quartz

Maybe you need to widen your circle of acquaintances?

That would require me moving to a town.

And to quote Jeremiah Johnson "I've been to a town"...

I did think of another older widow that does not own one.her kids took them when her husband died...
Everyone around here owns guns.

That would require me moving to a town.

Given that only 25% of Americans own guns, and 3-5% own most of them, I don't think you'll have to move too far before you find someone with less than 39 guns and thousands of ammo rounds.

Do you live at the Davidian compound or something along those lines?

Does not seem like too many guns, Heck I have more than a few, I would have to look but I think I have something like 1500ish rounds with about half of those being 22lr since they like to sell them in 550 round bricks for 10 bucks, and one of those bricks was from 2011 I think I only paid 3-4 bucks for it then.

That's fine, but it's still not the norm. Now that we've established that your case isn't like this guy, what else do you have to complain about?

Well as I've tried to make clear as others have for gun owners it is probably about average...

Suicidal in old age. That is becoming all to common in this society. You grow old and society, friends, family all forget about you. If seclusion lasts long enough, suicidal thoughts start to enter.

Was the note a cry for attention from his children?

I hope his cry for attention is heeded.

You left out physical pain, I've known a couple very strong people that could not stand up to the combination of psychological and physical pain...

But it isn't average. I've already demonstrated what the average gun owner has, and he falls way above it. What do you have? Evidence that you hoard more than he does?

So as soon as I saw that grenade what a joke. So the old guy was depressed. Happens to gun owners too. And 2000 rounds of ammo is less than 100 rounds/gun. If you do a lot of shooting , 2000 rounds isn't a bunch. But this is how it will go. Red flag my butt. You ex gets mad at you, calls the cops, says you threatened her with a gun, and that's it. The cops can come out and take your guns. Wonderful.

You don't like the Trump/Graham proposals for Red Flag laws. Give us something better to stop the mass murders. In 2019, the US has averaged more than one mass-murder per day. I'm tired of the WE-ARE-JUST-POWERLESS-TO-DO-ANYTHING-ABOUT-MASS-MURDERS NRA-rhetoric crowd.

You clearly do not understand the difference between a hoarder or collector.

I have in the neighborhood of 35 fly rods, not including blanks to build more when I decide to get around to it. Does that make me a hoarder and I should have them confiscated and I should be put away???

Here in Baltimore, 99% of these "mass shootings" are gang bangers. The law wouldn't affect the "mass shooting" rate at all. The Parkland shooter broke the law, made terroristic threats on social media, which is already against the law, and L.E., the F.B.I. specifically did nothing. How many of these "mass shooters" are NRA members? Has there ever been a mass shooting at a gun show? These animals prefer unarmed victims. The worst "mass shooting" in Texas was the "Luby's Massacre". That coward had handguns, killed 23 people. He walked around the restaurant for 12 minutes, grabbing people from under tables and killing them. Suzanna Hupp left her gun in her car. She wished she hadn't. Here is her testimony before congress. http://www.amazon.com/Lubys-Legislature-Womans-Against-Control/dp/096567844X My suggestion would be to make the whole country a "shall issue" country. Armed citizens would've changed the outcome of all those shootings. There are already schools that have armed teachers. And they advertise that. Remember, given the choice, these killers prefer a soft target. Also, arm teachers. The only thing that hasn't been tried yet, is the thing that would have the biggest impact on the high body counts. "Red flag laws" just makes it easier to disarm the public.

You don't need 35 fly rods. There should be a law.;)

Those people who have all that Star Wars stuff...

Confiscate!!!!

I wish I lived in your neighborhood. Sounds nice.

That's what the US has been trying:roll: There are more guns in the US than the entire rest of the world.

I know my city is a microcosm of the bigger problem. The murder rate is off the hook. They've been making the gun laws tougher and tougher. My father is a combat veteran, qualified and carried a government issued handgun as a court bailiff for years. He's now retired. He had to get finger printed, background checked and had to obtain a "Handgun Qualification License" before he could even BUY a gun. I don't know what else can be done. Short of changing the constitution, guns will always be part of our culture. There's no reason we can't be a gun culture, and not a "crime culture". Vermont is the safest state to live in and has practically no gun laws. Plenty of guns, but not much crime. Here, strict gun laws, including red flag laws, yet the highest murder rate in the country. The evidence doesn't show a correlation between gun laws and crime. That suggests the problem is more of a societal problem, than a gun problem. JMHO
