You should know by now and if you don't then it's intentional, Trump is a control freak and nothing happens within his administration particularly among his staff in the White House without his stamp of approval.

Oh nonsense....I swear, you normally, very smart people in here have given up good common sense, and rational thought, for imbecility, and mouth frothing childish hatred....its a very sad thing to witness.

It is Trump doing this, what world do you live in. Nothing like this is done without Trump approving or even ordering it.

prove it.

Trump Allies Target Journalists Over Coverage Deemed Hostile to White House

WASHINGTON — A loose network of conservative operatives allied with the White House is pursuing what they say will be an aggressive operation to discredit news organizations deemed hostile to President Trump by publicizing damaging information about journalists.

It is the latest step in a long-running effort by Mr. Trump and his allies to undercut the influence of legitimate news reporting. Four people familiar with the operation described how it works, asserting that it has compiled dossiers of potentially embarrassing social media posts and other public statements by hundreds of people who work at some of the country’s most prominent news organizations.

[snip]“The goal of this campaign is clearly to intimidate journalists from doing their job, which includes serving as a check on power and exposing wrongdoing when it occurs. The Times will not be intimidated or silenced.”

This is what a dictator does. When stories are printed that are either unflattering or negative about a dictator, they attack the source, they discredit the reporter or their family or their entire newspaper in some way.

This is something on a while new vein that we haven't seen yet. This is a concerted, organized operatives that have one objective, to discredit those journalists or new outlets or TV networks that are reporting news of Trump that's true but that he doesn't like. It's a literal war effort against freedom of the press.

accusations is all that is needed now right?
we don't need proof that something was actually done all that it takes are accusations to discredit someone.

i mean you should be ok with this right?

Did it make you feel better?

Does the sun rising in the East make you feel better? Trump's continual attempts to discredit and destroy the credibility of the free press while at the same time squelch free speech doesn't make me feel better. As a matter of fact, I'm even more convinced that Trump truly wants to be a dictator.

Yeah, Trump is a “stable genius”. He only plays three deminisional chess, too.

I’m not so sure.

He has definite authoritarian tendencies, something that his base responded to strongly, as they joined his personality cult.

But he had no plan for the day after the election, and he clearly believed that he could BS his way through the Presidency the way he had through life. Someone would be there to clean up any messes he might leave behind.

But the world of tabloids, cheesy television, and sleazy real estate development runs on BS. It’s a constant. And most of the players know it’s all BS.

But the Presidency is different.

And Trump hasn’t really been able to dodge responsibility for what he says and does. He’s not used to that.

And he doesn’t like it.

Trump is less of a dictator, than he is a guy who had run the family business into the ground but had a knack for creating fictional narratives to entertain a lowbrow and disaffected audience.

His disasterous performance at the G-7 was a case in point. Yesterday morning, he made it about himself, attacked his predecessor, lied twice about a meeting he dodged, and them promoted a golf resort in front of the world.

We would have been better off with an empty chair.

What we have is an empty suit.

What we have is an empty suit.

There was an empty chair at the summit on climate, biodiversity and oceans. Oh wait, didn't he say that he cares about the environment? An empty chair speaks more truths than he does.

What will the campaign include?

Are these dastardly folks going to harass these noble journalists as they try to eat dinner? Maybe throw cement milkshakes at them? Maybe DOX them in full page ads in the local papers?

Will they go so far as to stand outside their private homes and terrorize them and their families with screeching threats and profanity?

All of these things sound like the terrorist actions of Brown Shirt Style thugs. How far will this campaign go?

It sounds like they are going to say the news sources are not credible because of things they have published and tweeted, and then quote things they have published and tweeted.

That's a compelling photo and talking point. However, the reason for his absence was explained in the relevant thread. This is another example of taking a dig at Trump by giving part of the story.

"The President had scheduled meetings and bilaterals with Germany and India, so a senior member of the Administration attended in his stead," press secretary Stephanie Grisham said by way of explanation for Trump's absence.

Except that Trump seemed to think -- or at least said -- that the climate change meeting was later in the day and that he hadn't missed it at all. From the pool report: "Asked if he attended the climate session, Trump says 'we're having it in a little while.' He didn't appear to hear when a reporter told him it just happened."

So, which is it? Did he have other pressing commitments? Or did he think it was later? Or are neither of those things true? (HINT: It's the last one!) Donald Trump's story on skipping the G7 climate meeting makes no sense - CNNPolitics

Are you seriously buying that heap of bull? If you buy that, I have a great bridge in Arizona I'd like to sell you cheap. You can bet your last dollar that if Vladimir Putin was going to be at that summit that Trump would have been there 2 hours early.

He could easily have more pressing commitments, or something just more important to do. It happens.

As far as the question asked of Trump - he's not going to be the one keeping track of the schedule, and could have thought the meeting was later or just misunderstood a question in passing.

This sounds like what the New York Slimes have been doing to conservatives and anyone they politically don't agree with for years now, digging up social media posts from years gone by, taking them out of context for the purposes of intimidation and personal destruction. Happens to be MediaMatter's specialty now a days.

Hey New York Slimes! What's the matter? You can dish it out, but you can't take it? :lamo
Can't handle your own standards that you've set by example when they are applied to you? :lamo

I'm sure those so called 'journalists' would want to keep their 'protected status' and hypocritical double standards so they can continue to attacks on those they don't like, continue with their political activism with impunity and complete safety.

Does anyone really wonder anymore why the leftist media has no more credibility?

The best way forward is for the NYT, and everyone else, to stop doing that which they don't want done to themselves.
If not, it's only going to get very much uglier.

SMH.

Nobody on the left has ever tried to discredit credentialed journalists or the family of journalists, by digging into their past and their children's past. This is the type of filth that only republicans are capable of. And, it's all for YOUR benefit, so you can distrust the legitimate press and believe what Trump and Fox tell you and nothing else. The propaganda machine of the right is in full swing well in advance of the 2020 election.

You mean like Media Matters did to Tucker Carlson digging up the old radio show conversation from a decade ago?

Why Journalists’ Old Tweets Are Fair Game for Trump

Breitbart burned the New York Times. And the Times really doesn’t like it. - The Washington Post

Lol, Even Far Right news outlets like Politico and The Washington Post are blasting the NYT for their hypocrisy.

Couple of things here:

1) NY Times is not a mainstream media source. Their primary goal is to sign people up for subscriptions.

2) Really? This is tinfoil hat stuff, with vague allegations and hinting at a conspiracy

3) What this says is this 'loose network of conservative operatives' is going to discredit these news organizations... by highlighting things they have said, tweeted, and published. Perhaps the news organizations shouldn't have said these things?

Let's see you support those claims.

If this story is true, then the Trump administration will have no trouble finding journalists at the NY Times who are hostile to and biased against the administration. Their big problem will be where to begin. The Times has never entertained even a pretense to objective coverage about Trump.

This story (which is almost certainly qualifies as "fake news") ironically and almost humorously exemplifies the entire basis for the alleged efforts of the administration to retaliate against the biased journalists aligned against it.
