Hereby ordered? He's ordering American companies - private businesses - to obey him? Who the hell does he think he is? Forget the fact that Trump products were all manufactured in Asia forever.

If Barack Obama ever uttered words like that, the DP servers would explode and Sean Hannity would be on a 5 state shooting spree.

Yup. Though they claim to have done away with that caste system, they haven't. It's really bad. Parts of it look like bombed out remnants of some war. But labor is stupidly cheap there.

The purpose of the TPP was to confront China from a position of strength instead of alone. Trump is finding out why being alone against China is a mistake.

This is what I dislike the most about Trump. A true conservative republican would never start trade wars or suggest imposing new tariffs on goods.

Trump is correct in principle about putting America first but how he goes about it is completely wrong.

He's adamant about taxing imported goods from China which will cause prices to rise for the average consumer and in turn hurt the economy, but he doesn't seem to care about all the new American-based corporate centers opening in India, Philippines, and wherever else which is taking jobs away from Americans in exchange for dirt-cheap wages overseas.

It’s a cult of personality.

We’ve never had one before in the United States. We’ve had temporarily bigger than life political figures. But we’ve never had a politician who deliberately cultivated an entire movement around one leader’s id.

Stalin, Hitler, Peron, Castro, and now Trump.

Seems as though the whole country is moving in that directly, sadly.

Most liberals and progressives have already trumpeted their call for socialism and the republicans are basically socialist lite.

Most people I know who are left of center do NOT full fledged socialism. But they do want some help from the government in certain areas. Number 1 area would be Health Care/Insurance. Many good hard working Middle Class people are being priced right out of Health Care.

Same here. Over the next few months we'll see more accusations about how Democrats are for socialism when the reality is they are advocating for more social programs and ways of leveraging government power to get better results for American citizens. How much power the government the government should have is definitely open for debate, but that this is about moving the country to socialism in its true sense is a red herring. I think the term is the modern day equivalent of labeling people communists as an easy way to steer the conversation away from the actual issues.
