Bernie Sanders ˜Green New Deal": A $16 Trillion Climate Plan

Plus, Monopoly is a badly-designed game that people shouldn't waste their time playing. So those morons are going to buy a bad rip-off of a bad game in order to stick it to the libs. Okay then.

One of the Chance cards in that version of the game is burn your Nike sneakers that you already paid for.
That'll learn 'em.

Funny using Monopoly board game to make a right wingers case. The whole game was devised to inform people of the dangers of capitalistic monopolies.
Yes, and Clue was devised to inform people of the dangers of ropes and candlesticks.

Are you suggesting that Sanders speaks for every Democrat?

Show me the Democrats who don't have the same ideas and I'll show you the Democrats without a snowballs chance in the primary.

I'm not sure what point it is you are trying to make other than that capitalists take jokes better than socialists do...

Nah... Right wingers are well known for lacking severely in humor and the arts.

Are you suggesting that Big Energy, industry, corporations will clean up environment and pay for it themselves?
No, clearly we need to put them all out of business.

:donkeyfla:donkeyfla:donkeyfla

reminds me of 1961 when republicans insisted that nixon should have been elected because JFK was too audacious in proposing to land a man on the moon by decade's end

LOL youre comparing this to the Apollo Program? I hope you realize that the net zero emissions they are advocating isnt some new high tech solution, but rather a form of neo-luddism: banning fossil fuels, vegetarianism, and a return to the age of sail.

Id like to see how the ensuing jobs boom would pan out in this move.

Skysail

Kite sails are already being used to significantly drive down cargo shipping fuel costs. ;)

You don’t have a clue what they’re advocating because you’ve never read the proposal.

LOL I could imagine one of those shipping containers smashing into the roof of your house when the wind blows the wrong way.

Okay, Bernie- clue us in. What's in the proposal?

And your preference as to a solution for the climate crisis and how it will be funded?

Give them tax credits. FOr that matter give people tax credits. $1 for every foot in height of a fruit tree you plant.

What are you talking about? These kite sails assist in pulling cargo ships across the ocean so they use far less diesel fuel and save tons of money. Don't know what that has to do with cargo containers flying into my house.

The one I found more amusing (and a real proposal) was to eliminate all carbon emissions by switching 50% of the world cropland to bio-fuel. Because, apparently, burning bio fuel doesn't emit carbon dioxide, and we don't need all that food.

What does any of that have to do with what I posted?

Sanders says it pays for itself in 15 years. I'd like professional economists to look at it.

What I look at is the alternative, which is global starvation, water wars, much of the world's cities under water and possibly extinction. From my back-of-the-envelope calculation, that's more than $16 trillion.

Economists and Engineers will laugh at it.

One of the more interesting ways it is supposed to 'pay itself back' is by selling energy and collecting additional income tax from the workers in these new power plants - ignoring both the costs of putting all the existing workers and energy producers out of business.

Bernie Sanders’s Green New Deal, explained - Vox

He doesn't have any idea. He's just throwing numbers out to encourage his followers.

Lol.

Hysteria, for sure.

I will never understand the right wing. You claim to be pro-America and America first.

Then you say Hey, wait, no, we can't put strings on the money we send to Israel. We can't make them be RESPONSIBLE while we're sending them billions in aid every year. Oh, and let's not forget, they have single payer healthcare; why is it ok for the US tax payer to subsidize countries that give their people single payer healthcare when we have millions of uninsured and underinsured, and tens of thousands of people dying due to inaccessible healthcare every year in this nation?

Why is it Ilhan Omar sounds more like a conservative in that regard than an actual conservative? Trump folks should live this move. It puts americans and America first; it alters our infrastructure and updates it; it spends US TAX DOLLARS on US CITIZENS, not Israelis, not Frenchies, no one but americans.

For "America First" It sure as hell seems like the GOP means America is first to accept the predation of everyone else.

They are protecting the billionaires that stand to lose if we come to our senses and ask them to pay their fair share to avoid a catastrophe. I ask them why we need people to amass huge fortunes now when we did better when all Americans incomes went up with similar percentages.

LOL So you do not understand the difference between burning fossil carbon that has been buried for millions of years and releasing carbon removed from the air by biofuel crops? Scientists are working on biofuel crops that can utilize areas that are not suitable for food production too.

The second way that biomass can be created without competing for food land is to use land that is not suitable for producing food or to grow the biomass without using land. Jatropha is an oil-bearing crop that its backers claim is suitable for growing in arid regions that would not otherwise be used for intensive agriculture. If this claim is borne out, and jatropha is planted on this type of land only, then biodiesel made from jatropha will not compete with food.

Another example of biomass being produced on non-agricultural land is the planting of dedicated biomass crops on land that otherwise would not produce food. There are large areas in the upper Midwest and the Southeast that once produced food crops but have now been given over to pasture or trees. Conversion of these lands to the production of woody biomass to be used for cellulosic biofuels would not affect food prices.

A last example is to produce biomass without extensive use of land by producing algae in ponds. PetroSun has evidently begun operation of an algae-producing facility in Rio Hondo, Texas. An estimated 4.4 million gallons of algal oil will be produced on 1,100 acres of ponds. To put this into perspective, 1,100 acres of soybeans produce approximately 70,000 gallons of soybean oil. If the ponds are located on land that is not suitable for crops, then algae as a feedstock will not affect food prices.

Breaking the Link between Food and Biofuels

LOL I was just imagining one of those kites ripping off a container from the ship and it ends up flying into someone's house.
