Jay Inslee drops out of the 2020 presidential race

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is dropping out of the 2020 presidential race, he announced Wednesday night on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.”

Inslee had centered his campaign around climate change, calling it “the most urgent challenge of our time.”

“This is our moment to put the greatest threat to our existence, to our economy, to our health, at the very top of the nation’s agenda,” Inslee said in March at his campaign’s kickoff event in Seattle.

He put out a detailed 10-year plan on how he’d move the country to clean energy, spurring other candidates to put out their own plans. Butting heads with the Democratic National Committee, he demanded that the organization hold a debate focused on climate change.

Nice guy, but he never stood a chance and was delusional to think so. Still, glad he did the right thing.

I expect Williamson will be next

Once a number of these candidates fail to make the September stage, they'll have to drop out. Ryan, Delaney, Bennet, De-Blasio, Gillibrand, and Williamson are on borrowed time, and they are wasting everyone else's by staying in.

It seems that they are wasting plenty of fossil fuel energy as well with a crowded and lengthy campaign season. It would be interesting to have someone track their fossil fuel usage while out on the campaign (and fundraising) trail reminding us of the "existential threat" that they are so busy contributing to.

I think Inslee could have lasted longer in a "normal" cycle. He reminds me a little of Al Gore: vanilla, inoffensive, qualified, single issue focused, affable enough. I hope that his cause doesn't die with his campaign. I also kind of hope Williamson holds on for a while longer. She amuses me.

... who?

Sent from the Matrioshka in the WH Christmas tree.

Inslee is right about how critically important addressing climate change is, but not enough people realize that yet, so running as a single-issue candidate on that just can't work.

Yet.

He got what he wanted; national exposure for him to support a cause that's near and dear to him. He's been all over cable news, telling millions of people each time why he feels that climate change is indeed the "most urgent challenge of our time". Kudos to him for walking the walk and talking the talk. I, for one, will remember his name now; so will others!

Every prominent leftist is an insane hypocrite when it comes to the environment. They drive around in limos, fly in private jets, and typically live in gigantic homes.

Big surprise.

This is so monstrously ridiculous in one comment that it's completely stupid to even reply.

But, I find it hysterical you would claim the left is hypocritical for travelling by the normal customary means (Hint: no one is making it around the country on a ****ing horse), when for 8 ****ing years EIGHT WHOLE ****ING YEARS all we heard was "DEFICIT! DEFICIT!"

You guys are so unbelievably hypocritical it's not even possible to take you seriously, at all.

Newsflash to all leftists; it's time to mock, not be outraged at, the idiotic commentary of the right.

LOL

If it wasn't for the policy of mocking the right for the last 10 years, the left might actually realize they don't have a clue what the New Democratic Party objectives are.

You don't even know what a "new democratic party" is. You claim to support america first but only support oligarch policies that deny regular americans access so a few rich shills can buy more boats.

You have no power or authority here and no one gives one flying fart about your failure of a reply to my post.

Of course I do. And you proved my point.

Without the intellectually vacant, the New Democratic Party would struggle to attract any attention.

LOL

Blah blah blah.

Move along Ocean, your arguments, like your commentary, are useless. Nobody cares.

Nobody cares? I've got almost 14,000 likes.

Do you ever tell the truth?

Too funny.

Who cares how many likes you have? Do you think that makes you relevant, that a bunch of right wingers "like" the right wing commentary you make?

Lmao. This is downright funny now. Come on man, gimme some more. Let's hear it.

Yes. It makes me relevant, and it proves your claim that nobody cares a total load of bullcrap.

Truth must be a scary concept for you.

Have fun.

Well said Di. I couldn't agree more.

He is apparently going to run for a 3rd term as governor. I hope he wins, wins big, and continues to be on the national stage. I liked Inslee. He was one of the candidates I met this year too. Good man.

No, let Orb Mom stay!

How sad.
Having 14,000 likes on a webforum that 99.99% of the world is unaware of, is like owning a bunch of currency for a country that is imaginary.
