Harry Reid rips Dems over '''Medicare-for-all,''' border policies: '''Of course''' it will hurt us in 2020 | Fox News

Former Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid had some harsh words for his party's presidential candidates, rejecting some of their health care and immigration policies as too extreme to resonate with voters in a general election.
Reid, during a newly published interview with Vice, specifically took aim at "Medicare-for-all" and calls by many candidates to decriminalize illegal border crossings. The blunt-talking former Nevada senator suggested any Democratic nominee running on these issues could face trouble.
“People want a fair immigration system. They don’t want an open-door invitation for everybody to come at once,” Reid said in the interview with Vice. When asked if supporting decriminalization could be bad for Democrats in 2020, Reid said, “Of course it is.”
We've tried to tell liberals and other Democrats that they are morons, but they won't listen. Their policies are only loved in the liberal echo chamber, not in mainstream America with citizens that have at least half a brain.

What happened to Harry?
He regained his sanity?

I hope these leftists continue to ignore us, and the political wisdom of Reid.

If Democrats actually run on removing all private insurance, decriminalizing crossing the border illegally, and then at the same time giving them even more benefits, they will manage to lose to Trump. This election should be a slam dunk for Democrats, instead they seem to have let a loud vocal minority infiltrate their campaigns and continuously keep being pushed and pushed further left. This not only hurts them because the vast majority of Americans do not support these ideas, they look like massive hypocrites due to prior positions that most have held for decades.

The idiots really are going to allow Trump to be reelected.

They are going to run on identity politics because these fools can't help themselves and Trump will capitalize off of their extreme leftist views.

This is an impossible situation. We have candidates running under the Democratic Party banner that aren’t even Democrats and should really be running as third party candidates. But if that happens then we risk handing Trump a victory by splitting the vote.

I think Pelosi sent him out to bring the dem wanna-be-presidents back to earth ... (grin)
Warren is gaining ground, so the DNC is in "Oh, Sh*t!" Mode. :lamo

Nope; they all are your new Democratic Party ... embrace them.

The New Democrats are the current establishment. A lot of these candidates go further than Democrats pre-Reagan, but they are closer to the older Democratic party than what we've had for the past few decades just with social justice added in.

Oh heavens. Some Democrats running for president are radical because they want America to have the same type of health insurance that's proven to work is most of the developed world. All this, while the guy running on the GOP ticket, Trump, is in court trying to get Obamacare declared unconstitutional -- a move that would immediately throw 30 million off of health insurance and return us to the bad-ol-days of no preexisting conditions, lifetime caps and junk policies.

The fact is that the range of Democratic proposals are wide: from Medicare for all, adding a public option to tweaking Obamacare.

Of course, Republicans can't debate the merits of these plans, so they call them all "Socialism," hoping to scare American voters. But you know what? These plans are very popular with voters.

You mean the Democrats that are actually true to the legacy and ethos of FDR, rather than spitting on his grave by kowtowing to corporate donors whenever possible after the neoliberal takeover of the party in the 80s and 90s?

We're just taking back what is rightfully ours.

What was the line from one of the early debates? "Republicans are going to call us socialists whether we come up with sensible policies or bat**** crazy policies, so we may as well push bat**** crazy policies."

Maybe not quite word-for-word, but it went something like that. :2razz:

Chief Full of Bull had 12,000 strong at a rally in MN. this week. I'm sure that caught their attention.

The DNC is having their Summer meeting in San Fran this week and the candidates all but Biden will be there. Gosh while they are there will they be touring the streets filled with homeless vagrants urinating and deficating on the streets? Will they have to tip toe through the poop and needles strewn on the ground? A city infested with rats, fleas and bedbugs spreading disease. Biden will be campaigning in New Hampshire.

False. The extremist positions on the stage wanted to remove private insurance, which is not at all what most of these countries have. Many of them have socialized medicine, but also allow private insurance to still be a thing.

Also this isn't a Republican saying it. Its Harry Reid. One of the most successful Democratic politicians of the last 50 years.

Their stupid liberals plans/policies are unaffordable by the entire solar system. There isn't enough GDP in the entire solar system to pay for that bull****. Get it through you head, we can't afford it even if it made sense. Yes, it's socialism.

They won't listen to Harry Reid, what does he know about the Democratic Party.

If her poll numbers get too high, the DNC may have to reinstitute "Operation: Crash and Bern" again.

They'll probably just let Warren lead the way. She's descended from the Kickapoo Tribe, too. :2razz:

Brainless Biden is the only one with any sense.

The New Democrats are the current establishment. A lot of these candidates go further than Democrats pre-Reagan, but they are closer to the older Democratic party than what we've had for the past few decades just with social justice added in.

The old Democratic Party was pro-defense, and far more conservative than the socialist nutjobs running things now.

First, dismissing these plans as socialism means that you are also against Social Security and Medicare -- two very popular programs. Please ask the GOP to run on abolishing these programs.

Second, saying they're unaffordable is false. We already are spending the same amount of money and we aren't covering everyone, as these plans do. We know from models run by our allies that such plans work and are indeed affordable.

Oh heavens. Some Democrats running for president are radical because they want America to have the same type of health insurance that's proven to work is most of the developed world.

Untrue. What works in most of the developed world is a system of nationalized healthcare providers, mountains of direct price controls and oversight, nationalized coverage, the tax rates required to pay for it and all operating alongside a private industry for same. None of the candidates have even remotely proposed that. Instead what we’re subjected to is a lazy proposal to force everyone into national insurance, merely change who writes the checks in the same private/for-profit healthcare system we have now, and refusal to be transparent about the tax rates.

The stupid conservatives don't even know what is socialism, much less what can be accomplished or paid for in healthcare.

As I previously said, there is a range. Medicare for All replaces private insurance with a government run system. Saying "they want to remove private insurance" is a scare tactic. While Bernie holds this view, Harris, Biden and Warren do not.

Can you source that they also have private health insurance?
