Elizabeth Warren apologizes for 'harm I have caused' at Native American forum in Iowa

And yet many here see it otherwise. And if the president were to apologize for calling her Pocahontas I think you would similarly treat it as a sign of weakness. Because politics.

Many, eh? How do you know? Actual fact or an "educated" guess on your part?

Trump needs to apologize a zillion times for all of the **** he's done since being elected. I would actually think he might show signs of being human if he did. But being the mentally-ill narcissist that he is, hell would freeze over before any sincere apology would cross his lips.

I do not hope Warren wins the primary. Only because I will not enjoy watching the Trump and the Trump's Chimps repeatedly call her a racist name.
"Whitey?"

"About as incompetent as it gets when it comes to business..."

Gee, given the facts, that's about as disqualifying a statement a poster has made in quite some time.

You think Trump has been a successful businessman???

Yes, "many". Look at the comments in this topic. How many are praising Warren for the apology? Very few. I was one of the few. How many are treating it as a sign of weakness or loss of credibility? Many. Very many.

Oh, and I love the "sincere" qualifier. That's your out in the unlikely event Trump should ever apologize. You'll call it insincere and condemn him for it.

Hate to break it to you.... but geez... pretty small sample, dontcha think?

So then don't vote for her. You are voting for the man who falsely represented himself as an economic genius, a first generation American, and Michigan's Man of the Year.

Nobody cares about this issue. I don't know why Warren keeps bringing it up.

And who did she "beat" for the job at Harvard? Post a link with evidence and statements from Harvard that she got her job over a more qualified candidate simply because of the Native American thing.

Are you serious? You really think that there was only one person in competition for a Harvard faculty position?

I don't think I'm required to disprove nonsense propositions.

If Warren tries to get support by feigning honesty then it's fair to attack her for it. I don't like her policies a bit, and the reality of politics is that such things can matter. Trump has excellent policies, and we've never had any illusions about his temperament or character.

She didn't get the amount because she claim to have has native blood. She got it because she was smart, excellent and extremely qualified. Don't distort facts to suit your agenda.

As for taxes, you fail to admit that every candidate in the last 40 years or so have released their taxes. Everyone except Trump who still claims to be under audit. Anyone who believes that also believes in the tooth fairy.
What is he hiding? The returns for the early 90s that have been made public show someone who is about as incompetent as it gets when it comes to business. It also shows someone who pays little to no tax.

Wake up, man. Just look at the facts... it's plain to see you've been duped by a con artist.

Have it your way. Harvard touted her alleged Indian blood as part of their minority compliance. Liz continued using her alleged ancestry until she was called out on it.

As for taxes. It doesn't matter what the last 10,000 voluntarily did. Was President Trump required to release his tax returns ?

You want the returns because you can't have them. No other reason.

Of course it's a sign of strength to admit when one has been wrong. I have no clue how any one else would think otherwise. If Warren was just fluffing this off, then why would she make such an effort to reach out to the indigenous people of America?

What, exactly, did Warren admit to doing wrong? Her apology rings as hollow as Hillary's "mistakes were made" nonsense. She not only made up a specific tie to the Cherokee tribe (see Pow Wow Chow) she actually presented DNA evidence to the contrary to back it up (now hastily removed from her website?). Not one of Warren's siblings claimed that same "family lore" as reason to consder themselves to be Native American.

Lying is lying. It doesn't whether or not somebody else didn't get the job.

She herself admitted she was wrong and apologized for causing harm.

From the OP.

"Like anyone who’s being honest with themselves, I know that I have made mistakes,” said the senator, who represents Massachusetts and hails from Oklahoma. “I am sorry for harm I have caused. I have listened and I have learned a lot, and I am grateful for the many conversations that we’ve had together.”

Wait a minute here. You have strong issues against liars and you're rabid Trump supporter? :lamo
Isn't it ironic...dontcha think?

So you also have no link to someone losing the job.

Her brothers all claim they were told the same story.

Well to be fair 70% of white women claim to be Native American because they think its cool. So we should give her a pass.

We're not talking about President Trump. Injun' Liz is the topic.

Her brothers all claim they were told the same story.

OK, and how many of them checked other than white as their race/ethnicity as Elizabeth did (sometimes, when convenient) based on that same story? I note that you have no intention of stating (guessing?) what Warren allegedly apologized for doing to "cause harm" or even who she felt was harmed. If Warren sincerely believes that she is Native American then why apologize for so stating or remove that "proof" from her website?

So you also have no link to someone losing the job.

No, I have no access to Harvard files. Does it matter?

Liz lied for years about her alleged ancestry. Liz benefited from it.

Liz herself said she caused harm.

You don't have to convince me. I saw nothing on that stage full of candidates that would change my mind.

You might want to worry about those undecideds.

Elizabeth Warren apologizes for 'harm I have caused' at Native American forum in Iowa

USA TODAY - Shelby Fleig - USA TODAY•August 19, 2019

SIOUX CITY, Ia. — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren opened her remarks at a Sioux City forum on Native American issues on Monday with a brief public apology related to her past ancestry claims.

“Like anyone who’s being honest with themselves, I know that I have made mistakes,” said the senator, who represents Massachusetts and hails from Oklahoma. “I am sorry for harm I have caused. I have listened and I have learned a lot, and I am grateful for the many conversations that we’ve had together.”

In October, Warren released the results of a DNA test intended to quell criticism from President Donald Trump and others who argue that Warren inaccurately has claimed Native American ancestry.

U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland of New Mexico introduced Warren at the Frank LaMere Native American Presidential Forum in Sioux City. Haaland, who endorses Warren, is one of the first Native American women elected to Congress.

Haaland said the controversy around Warren's past claims, including President Donald Trump's "Pocahontas" taunts, distract from attention to serious policy matters.

"Some media folks have asked me whether the president's criticisms of her regarding her ancestral background will hamper her ability to convey a clear campaign message," Haaland said. "I say that every time they ask about Elizabeth's family instead of the issues of vital importance to Indian Country, they feed the president's racism. Elizabeth knows she will be attacked, but she's here to be an unwavering partner in our struggle because that is what a leader does."

Warren was then greeted with a standing ovation from hundreds in attendance.

I watched her groveling and it reminded me of Obama’s apology tour. How embarrassing.

I guess now she will give a speech at Harvard suggesting better vetting to screen out white opportunists who wake up on job interview day as a protected class. After all some poor N.A. scholar didn’t get the position because she took their place.

The bottom line: Warren wasn’t good enough to get in as a white. They didn’t want white, and they got a pasty faced blond white woman. Warren owes Harvard reparations, personally!

Stick a fork in her. She’s done.

Who exactly did she "harm" by believing she had native american ancestry? Also how did she harm them?

So you don't know what happened. Yes, I know.

Why would I worry about undecideds? I'm not running for office anywhere.

I know what happened with Liz. She lied. She said so after being found out. Harvard is not about to release thousands of job applications just so you can make a possible point.

You've painted yourself into a corner. Time to put down the brush.
