Republicans Condemn Rep. Steve King for 'Offensive' Rape and Incest Comments | National Review

Rep. Steve King shocked across party lines Wednesday when he mused during a speech whether humanity would exist if it were not for rape and incest throughout history.
The Iowa Republican made the remarks while speaking about his opposition to exceptions for abortions in cases of rape and incest.
“We know the reasons why we don’t except exceptions, for most of us, for rape and incest, because it’s not the baby’s fault,” King told an audience at the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale, Iowa. “But there’s another, I sort of wonder about this. What if it was okay and what if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest. Would there be any population in the world left if we did that?”

This is the kind of scumbag that makes up the bulk of so called conservatives and Trump ass kissers today.

You really believe that most conservatives sit around wondering if rape and incest are beneficial to the continuance of the human race?

Out of curiosity, did you choose to throw this thread up more because you wanted to discuss King's comments or more because you felt a need to bash people you disagree with politically?

Apparently most conservatives, esp those in his district, don't really mind that he's regularly spouts of with crap like this.

In my humble (and outside) opinion, it is important for the GOP to purge the party of this kind of idiocy. Louis Gohmert is another great example.

That happens. In some districts the incumbent just keeps getting elected no mater what he or she says.

Meh, better late than never.

Obviously the GOP doesn't want to tarnish their image with him, so it makes sense why they are doing everything they can to kick him to the curb. He's way too explicit with his racism and gross comments like this. But watch him get re-elected come his election time.

Immigration (legal and otherwise) threatens to overtake the population of the towns in district 4 of Iowa where King presides. I know this because I live in the same state. King has complained about this from the start. This is why dems hate and use demagoguery in an attempt to destroy King.

Well they are letting Trump get away with it, so...

I blame his pastor. Old men should not be taught about the Tribe of Benjamin.

Why don't you justify the dems' passion for Sharpton, for example, if you think racists shouldn't be allowed in politics?

In 90% of districts, but that is a different thread.

Probably not, but then why do you keep voting for these people?

My friends, we are taking the bait and avoiding the real argument.

Don't get me wrong as I am not a supporter of Steve King nor do I have any real interest in defending the guy... but his comments, while horrible, were not really about rape and incest as beneficial in any regard. The comments were about his position on denying abortions in those cases of rape and incest. I suspect, and this is of course open to discussion, that position is based on his ideology of "protecting life" irregardless of how that life was produced. Beneficial or not becomes subjective, the ideology he subscribes to is fairly strict on this matter.

Granted that is the extreme social conservatism position on abortion and I do not agree with King at all, but we are making a real mistake focusing on his awful train of thought and choice of words and ignoring what he is really advocating for.

That is where the criticism should be, the idea that government should tell a woman that abortion is out of the question even if she is raped. Horrific position on that is where my criticism is.

As for his comments about rape and incest, I doubt many of his supporters who keep reelecting the guy are going to care enough to change their minds for the next election cycle.

Soon, King's district 4 in Iowa will be composed of the same type of transplanted population like the one in Minnesota that allowed Omar to be elected.

When did I say that racists "shouldn't be allowed in politics"? I never said that. Steve King can keep running for office all he wants; he's an elected official. But I'm going to call him out for being a racist scumbag politician, as long as he remains in office.

I don't care about anyone else's "love" for Al Sharpton. I speak for myself, and only myself.

Why don't you call Sharpton a racist with the same vigor that you erroneously call King?

"Erroneous"? It's not "erroneous" when King's statements are quite clearly racist. You must agree with him, huh?

White people are not oppressed as a race.

Why don't you call Sharpton a racist with the same vigor that you erroneously call King?

Why don't you start a thread about him and we can talk about him?

Pretty much this, everyone that I saw last night on shows, took it and ran, hook, line, and sinker, yet none of them focused on the substance of what he said,

He wasn't advocating for rape and incest, he wasn't saying there would be no population without it FFS, he also literally said that he can't rule out that he isn't the product of that from way back in his family tree.

The guy's an idiot for a ton of reasons, including this attempt, but he wasn't doing what everyone is bitching about.

You really believe that most conservatives sit around wondering if rape and incest are beneficial to the continuance of the human race?
I never pondered the question but if we look at the track record of conservatives, from ***** grabbing to just about anything else the so called conservatives and Trump supporters have a poor track record.

Out of curiosity, did you choose to throw this thread up more because you wanted to discuss King's comments or more because you felt a need to bash people you disagree with politically?
Not at all, just pointing out a sad reality.

My friends, we are taking the bait and avoiding the real argument.
On the contrary, we are showing a sad reality.

Don't get me wrong as I am not a supporter of Steve King nor do I have any real interest in defending the guy...
Yet in a way you are doing that.

but his comments, while horrible, were not really about rape and incest as beneficial in any regard.
Nobody said that that was the case. Now try with the real meaning, "acceptable" and see how that plays in your thinking.

The comments were about his position on denying abortions in those cases of rape and incest.
While that is true and he is not the only one to hold such an extreme view, others managed to offer reasons that are not so despicable.

I suspect, and this is of course open to discussion
Clearly not for King.

that position is based on his ideology of "protecting life" irregardless of how that life was produced.
That is the wrong word for what he advocates. If life was of any real concern for him then he would not be so cavalier with the life of the woman who was subjected to what can be worse than death to many.

Granted that is the extreme social conservatism position on abortion and I do not agree with King at all, but we are making a real mistake focusing on his awful train of thought and choice of words and ignoring what he is really advocating for.
Nothing rational, compassionate or wanted by majority of the people.

As for his comments about rape and incest, I doubt many of his supporters who keep reelecting the guy are going to care enough to change their minds for the next election cycle.
And that is actually worse than this imbecile, because while he is one those who can accept and re-elect him are many.
