I will get back to you when thats the topic we are discussing, not when its something you want to use to distract from an uncomfortable conversation

Funny how we're talking about immigration and you think the employer aspect is a deflection.

Which sounds just like a deflection.

But you do you.

Cuccinelli rewrites Statue of Liberty poem to make case for limiting immigration

Ken Cuccinelli rewrites Statue of Liberty poem to make case for limiting immigration - CNNPoliticsWashington (CNN)The acting director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services in a new interview revised the iconic poem on the Statue of Liberty's pedestal to suggest that only immigrants who can "stand on their own two feet" are welcome in the United States.

Ken Cuccinelli tweaked the famous poem from Emma Lazarus -- whose words, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" are long associated with immigration to the US and the nation's history as a haven -- as part of a case for strict new measures pushed Monday by the Trump administration that could dramatically change the legal immigration system.

The right wing extremism has to stop. One day people are going to wake up and not be able to recognize this country anymore because it will be gone. We're no better than countries like Venezuela run by a greedy government who are intent on stealing as much as they can while they can. Clearly the message on the Statue of Liberty no longer applies to the immigration policies of the United States.

Frankly there is much of anything that Herr Trump, and Herr Miller, and their brown shirt minion enablers could do now that would surprise me anymore.

Y'all gleefully indulge in anti-persianism and anti-latinism and any number of other "anti-isms".

Oh wait. Only criticism of the state of israel is hatred of the people who live there for being who they are.

Everywhere else it's what it actually is.

Criticism of the actions of said state

Seeing as you don't even know what you're talking about, I'll give you a pass.

The Anti-Semitism that is mainly thrown at Israel isn't for the state, but for it's people. With the same people who preach that same hate all the time pointing out that it's their goal to ensure that there is never "a jewish" state. If all of this was just directed at the state itself and not the demographic of it's people, that would be a much better argument for you to make.

Also, might I ask where have I indulged in anti-persianism, or anti-latinism?
Do you also mind pointing that out from any of the applicable political parties that you're currently trying to smear with claim?

Theres nothing funny nor clever about what you're attempting to do. You injected yourself into a conversation and attempted to hi-jack it in a different direction (putting it mildly).

I was addressing lisa using ad hominem attacks on Republicans. You attempted to inject a completely off topic question that takes away from addressing her slanderous remarks.

If you want to join the conversation, do so by taking a position on that, or don't quote me and then ask a question unrelated to the subject of my conversation with her.

What your doing is a cheap parlor trick for the intellectually lazy.

In case you're confused the topic was that she claimed that Republicans are xenophobic and racists which she supported by falsely claiming the republicans think immigrants are lazy.

Iran deserves whatever it gets.

And that doesn't exclude any Persian who lives there.

The right attacks Iran constantly.

And nobody says that that is antipersianism.

But any criticism of the actions of the state of Israel is called antisemitism.

Even though many of those actions wouldn't be accepted by any other state.

Its not so much that all republicans are xenophobes and racists, but most of the xenophobes and racists are republicans.

That immigrants are lazy and a drain to the system?

that's not what conservatives think... they think the system is broke and needs to be fixed but it can't be fixed by ADDING MORE PEOPLE TO IT'S ROLLS that are not even citizens right now.

no its that the liberal definition of xenophobes and racists is screwed up, mainly.

the ACTUAL racists, of whom there are very few, would be with whoever actually wanted to enforce immigration laws, of course. that is a mere coincidence.

Funny that.

In the latest raid nary an employer went to jail.

Republicans have no interest in sanctioning employers.

Too much campaign money at risk.

Actually two mamagers were charged at the recent raid in Mississippi. Jail sentences are a little harder to get as they have to prove they knowingly violated the law. Many of those illegal workers will have what appears to be valid documents.

Fake news (and a ton of it on this subject). First off, this article and thread were click bait. Second, a poem is NOT legislation. Third, the poem was for people entering into Ellis Island so they can feel emboldened when they (legally) become citizens. Fourth, Cuccinelli simply stated a fact. Standing on your own two feet means being responsible for your own affairs and not piggybacking off of others. Finally, NOTHING was rewritten on the poem. Hence the first point mentioned. Just a click bait article from a Never Trumper. Mr Moderator, move this article to the Conspiracy Theories section because this was one of the worst click bait threads on here. Thank You!

Not to mention back then we had a fraction of the population and vast tracts of uninhabited land to be claimed for those willing to work it. We have enough people now.

Move snything to the conspiracy theories that doesn't show the appropriate worshipfulness!

(Btw, it's not fake news if he actually said it. Which he did. There's tape.)

Are you seeing this, Mr Moderator? These people commenting on what I pointed out are buying this fake news. I want to make sure that their mental health is stable, but I fear it's starting to overtake them. This thread NEEDS to be moved to the Conspiracy Theories section and not left in breaking news. The sooner you do it, the sooner these people (might) go back to normal. Thank You Again!

No, when you criticize a country like Iran. It's most likely going to be because of their ill treatment of others, or their actions in war. Not something that is typically known as an "ism" of it's people, or culture. Though I have seen slightly interchangeable aspects in the matter.

The people who are criticizing Israel however, are doing so through the use of well known "anti-Semitic tropes", or attacking aspects of it's people directly.
