It's pretty easy to infer. Celebrating being straight every day to my comedy mind means you celebrate it with women every day. Hence my example with Mardi Gras which technically are a bunch of straight pride parades.

MOST white folks aren't racist, but the portion who are, are extremely vocal, sometimes extremely powerful and extremely wealthy, and they spend the majority of their time demanding we placate them.
And God help you if you don't.
MOST straight white folks aren't homophobic either, but you get the same math, and the same problems.

And then there's the remainder of bigoted and homophobic straight white people who ARE very much NOT rich and powerful, and they're often the most ignorant and violent.
And God help you if you speak up.

I believe the article said that comment was a gaffe, which implies he misspoke (such as saying racist when he meant "non-racist".) Therefore what is "lost on" someone is that this is a flawed basis to oppose a straight pride march.
