Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced millionaire who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died by suicide Friday night in his Lower Manhattan jail cell, three law enforcement officials told ABC News.

The exact timing and circumstances were not immediately clear.

Epstein, 66, was set to stand trial next year for allegedly sexually abusing dozens of minor girls in New York and Florida.

That's too bad, I would have like to have seen all involved taken down.

There should be an investigation and people held accountable. No place for vigilantly justice in 21st century America.
 
I'm not usually a punitive type person but this Epstein trash can deserved to rot in prison for years for what he did to those girls.

Yeah, no way was it suicide, IMO. I'm also guessing whatever surveillance video that exists is going to be magically destroyed.

Agreed. Apparently this became clear to him and he didn't want to endure it.

Also rather disappointing that those involved in this sordid scandal aren't going to get the bright sunlight that is desperately needed.

But then, if only made to appear to be a suicide, that would be a prime motivating factor.

It wasn't "justice", in my opinion. It was the exact opposite. Too many evil, powerful people were vulnerable and he needed to be silenced.
 
Unfortunately, we didn't get any justice out of this. But I am glad that the piece of **** is dead. He deserved so much worse.

How exactly did this happen? Wasn't he under suicide watch? This is a bit suspicious...

I think the officers assigned to overseeing this man on suicide watch need to be detained immediately and questioned.

This stinks to high heaven, and strikes me as gross negligence or utter corruption.
 
This won't stop the digging, the investigations. He took the cowards way out, but he just went from the frying pan to the fire IMHO.

It's not as uncommon as you would hope for guards to beat a man to death and then write it up as a suicide.

The officials told NBC News he was found at 7:30 a.m. ET at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York and that he hanged himself.

Epstein was found in his cell a week or so ago injured from a possible suicide attempt crying in his cell with bruises on his neck, and was on suicide watch, how did this happen? Epstein's story will go with him to his death. That was the point. It's too bad because we all know there's a great, big dirty story there.

The world is a better place now and that has saved so much money for the courts and the prison system.

Gross negligence or corruption. Or both. At the very least the officers assigned to watch him need to be detained and questioned by internal affairs.

Maybe a guard snuck a length of cord to him with a message from one of Epstein's powerful former friends telling him the horrible things that would happen to him in prison if he did not off himself. Maybe the guard was bribed and garroted him in his cell. Or maybe the man assigned to check up on him was late and went on a bathroom break.

I do not like to indulge in conspiracy theories, but this just lends itself to conspiracy theory.

Epstein allegedly attempted suicide back in July. There was speculation that he staged that 'attempt' to get moved out of the prison and into a hospital. Apparently, the warden and a judge were not impressed, and Epstein remained where he was, but on suicide watch.

If this was murder, it certainly was not 'vigilante justice.' This was murder to silence him. The most recent allegations made public by an accuser names some very powerful names involved in the sex trafficking crimes. More than likely, if Epstein were to flip for a plea deal in exchange for corroborating the accuser's claims, there would be several people who would stand to benefit from his sudden demise.

Epstein was on suicide watch. Apparently that does not mean what I think it means.
