A 13-year-old was seriously injured when a man at a Montana rodeo slammed him to the ground after the boy did not remove his hat during a playing of the national anthem, authorities said Tuesday.

Curt James Brockway, 39, was arrested on suspicion of felony assault on a minor following the alleged attack at the rodeo at the Mineral County Fair on Saturday.

The man was rightfully arrested. He is a repeat violent offender and I think he'll be locked up for some years over his choice. Not much else to say.

Also it wasn't people. The article is clear it was one guy who slammed him. This guy is an asshole.

I was talking about people, as my comment said "these phony patriots" because he's not the only one who tries to tell others they should stand, take their hats off, or put their hands over their heart, or how to be a true patriot, like a lot of assholes out there. There are a ton more like this guy out there. So I have no idea what your point is

Dude should not enforce respect for the anthem, but then again, crazy people don't like to be cursed at either which seems like it was the likely cause of the slam.

"Brockway said he asked the boy to take off his hat, after which the teen cursed at him".

My point is that although many people may consider it disrespectful for whatever reason (and it is their right to feel that way) only this guy tried to kill a kid for wearing a hat. You are grouping everyone who finds this disrespectful with this guy because they share one thing. And it isn't the thing that is the problem.

The problem isn't that the man finds this action disrespectful. The problem is the use of violence.

Cursing equals cracked skull; is that the message you want to convey?

No, the cause of the slam was him being a violent asshole.

Clearly it is the message that Brockway wrongly conveyed. What makes you think I was in any way condoning this?

Yes, I am, an happy to do it. Because its completely stupid. Not taking your hat off, not standing, not putting your hand over your heart has absolutely no bearing on whether you love your country. I don't even see it as an insult. And even if you did, that's a pretty pathetic thing to get upset about. And they can be upset all they want, but you are an asshole for telling others what they should be doing. Particularly something to petty. Like I said, its phony patriotism. THese people having to put on this fake show to show everybody around them how patriotic they are. Same thing can be said for the religious people that have to make spectacles out of praying, have to convince everybody around them they are so holy and religious.

And lets not pretend there wasn't a national uproar from many people about this issue. There are not a ton of assholes out there that can't mind their own business and want to tell others how to be true patriots

No, the cause of the slam was him being a violent asshole.

Cause and effect. Would Brockway have done it if the boy didn't curse at him? I don't know and you don't care, which is fine. Brockway should be punished because this probably isn't the first time he was an ahole.

[]....cursed at either which seems like it was the likely cause of the slam.

I don’t know, thanks for clearing that up.

Again there is nothing wrong with this man finding it disrespectful. A person can find anything disrespectful. Thats ok.

The issue here is he tried to kill a 13 year old kid.

There is a big difference. It is amazing that you are most upset by the fact that someone found something disrespectful that you disagree with than act that got the kid airlifted.

Interesting... Now his intent was to kill the boy?

Citation?

If you want to make an argument based on "cause and effect" principles, the real question is if cursing at other people leads to a physical attack by the offended person. In the vast majority of cases it does not, and this means that the cause of such physical attacks is found on the character (or mind state) of the individual who is offended by the cursing and not on the the act of cursing itself.

Liberalism's infestation of our culture drives yet another guy over the edge.

Maybe not kill him, just teach him a lesson about patriotism by slamming him and fracturing his skull. God bless Murica'

Maybe he didn't intend to kill the kid, but he certainly thought it was okay to used violence means against him, therefore putting the kids life in jeopardy.

If a 39 yr old man picks up a 13 yr old boy and body slams him into the ground is done with serious attempt to destroy him.

Reports said the boy was bleeding from both ears. I would say the intent was deadly.

Punk kid had it coming eh?

No..it wasnt his fault obviously, he is only a kid. Its the lack of respect that is to blame...he got that from somewhere, and it came from liberalism and its anti-American agenda. Its really sad that this kid is yet another victim of liberalism.

Trump will pardon him.

Just standing up for god and country and the 'merican way.....what a piece of $hit, good example of his party and what they stand for these days. If Trump was there he'd chant 'get that son of a bitch, I'll pay your lawyers fees!'.

So if he were an adult, he would of deserved to have had his skull fractured over some guys perceived "disrespect"? You fit the quote "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross" perfectly.
