A Gretna police officer posted a comment on his Facebook page this past week calling U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a "vile idiot" who "needs a round, and I don't mean the kind she used to serve." Charlie Rispoli, who has been on the Gretna police force since 2005, could not be reached for comment, but Chief Arthur Lawson called the post "disturbing" when it was shown to him Friday.

...Rispoli's comment referred to a fake news story he posted to his personal Facebook page on Thursday at 1:51 p.m. The story's headline attributed a fabricated quote to Ocasio-Cortez saying, "We pay soldiers too much." The photo on the post is marked as "satire" and it had been labeled "false" by the website snopes.com on Wednesday, but Rispoli appeared to be upset by it.

That's right kids. Don't voice anything on social media that can be seen as mean, or generally ugly. Unless it targets anyone who's remotely right of the political spectrum, then you're pretty much given free rein to do so.

Don't see how one person who said some naughty words online, accounts for all conservatives, but okay.
I'm just pointing out how someone who's not in the protected political sphere can't say whatever they want, and will most likely be actively attacked for it. While people who inhabit the protected sphere, barely get held accountable for much, despite some of egregious crap they can say.
 
That was a terrible thing to say, his words should be condemned by all. Surely we can all agree on that and it should have bi-partisan support.

I read this article. I read your reaction. A number of thoughts went through my mind.

1. Gretna? What the hell is Gretna and why should I care about it? Do people say, "Where Gretna goes, so goes America"? I don't think so.

2. One person who happens to be a policeman. There are around 17,000 people in Gretna (I looked it up). Does this one person speak for everyone in Gretna? Is he the leader of a "Kill AOC" organization that pervades Gretna? Or is he one idiot shooting his mouth off online?

3. Someone says the words "social media post" and what?...it's supposed to be referring to some huge hotbed of...something? How many people were exposed to that guy's words? Very few, I'm thinking.

4. Why on earth would j brown's body think this is "Breaking News"?​

After those thoughts run through my mind, after I post those thoughts here, guess what? I won't think about this Gretna guy again and I won't think about j brown's body's thread. I'll just leave it to him to wonder "What is happening to this country?"

Outside of a few deranged individuals, I'm pretty sure most everyone regardless of political would agree with that.

My issue is how sad it is that someone posting a mean tweet is somehow news now. You would think that with everything happening in the world journalists would have a little more to do then sit on Twitter all day hoping some idiot says something offensive.

Give some examples of people calling for a prominent politician to be murdered where everyone just said "Oh that's fine, a liberal did it! "

You make up nonsense like this constantly then cower when challenged to prove it.

Maria Chappelle-Nadal - saying that she hoped Trump would get assassinated on Facebook and received no pushback for it, until it came to light and even then one can argue she was still left untouched.

The PunchaNazi has tag was used as a call to violence for months and still gets used on twitter to do the same. With no real consciences.

You also have people like Shaun King, calling for the same kind of terroristic attacks that just happened against an immigration center.

Really Rabid? Claiming that I constantly make up nonsense and then cower when challenged. The irony here is palpable.

It is happening. I agree. And I find it hilarious. But you guys brought it on yourselves. Your party dropped the dog whistles and went full retard so yes everything you guys say will be hyper scrutinized and Democrats who say questionable **** will get a pass and I will die laughing while you assholes fume and eat it because no one cares when racists rednecks cry.

Oh, I forget. Rules for thee and not for me is a staple among the regressive community. You make all of these assumptions and claims, yet they all fall dreadfully short of actually meaning anything. calling people racist rednecks is just par for the course, when you know that your argument doesn't hold any water at all and it's probably the only safe bet you have for saying anything that will be heard. Because when it comes to anything factual... you're basically up the same kind of creek as the next never-trumper in he line.

I don't much care for safe space liberals but I care for safe space needing Republicans even less. But here is actual reality for you. We get a pass and you get hyper scrutinized because your the minority and you smell and no one likes you. Get use to it. Hyper sensitive liberals might be super annoying but racism and jingoism no one has any more patience for.
