Trump's election may be tied to premature births among Latina women - CNN

The United States 2016 election, when President Donald Trump was voted into office, may have been tied to a rise in premature births among Latina women across the US, according to a new study.

In the nine months beginning with November 2016, about 3.2% to 3.6% more preterm births to Latina women occurred above the levels of preterm births that would have been expected had the election not occurred, suggests the study, published in the medical journal JAMA Network Open on Friday.

I thought I'd post this "news story" for anyone out there who still thinks CNN has any iota of doubt regarding the overwhelming bias at CNN. Blaming premature births on Trump. Can the liberal MSM sink any lower in terms of credibility?

They'll take it seriously. Trump is now apparently Satan himself. Nothing else worked, so WTF?

Um... okay, perhaps CNN dipped into the sauce a little early today with this one.

We dont need a 'study' to show that CNN's evaporating credibility is linked to Trumps election as well.

Latina women are afraid for their children because of Trump... this situation is very alarming.

How better to protest Trump than to have sex with Latina women?
Should I tell them i had a vasectomy or should i leave that part out?

CNN didn't draw the conclusions. They shared the results of a study published in a peer-reviewed journal. The title of the study:

Association of Preterm Births Among US Latina Women With the 2016 Presidential Election

(more details at link)

But go ahead and hold CNN responsible for the contents and conclusions of the study they didn't have anything to do with.

This sounds like a fun #CNNReports hashtag game.

"Children's tantrums are lasting 18% longer than when Obama was President."
"Bunnies are hopping 27% less than average ... because of Trump."
"Snickers taste 33% less satisfying in Trump America, say anti-Trumpers."

That study, if you read it, identifies 4 means for “limitations” to the study. 2 of them applying to correlation over causation.

Did CNN spend much time talking about that part? (Answer is no.)

They did mention limitations. You're nitpicking.

The study had some limitations, including that the researchers were unable to separate the data on Latina women to determine differences among those who were foreign-born versus those who were born in the United States, and only an association was found between preterm births and the presidential election -- not a causal relationship.

CNN is not responsible for the study. They merely reported on it and they reported in a fairly comprehensive manner. They didn't appreciably spin the content or conclusions.

This sounds like a fun #TDS hashtag game:

"Make up the craziest **** you can think of, then accuse liberals of saying it."

Well, I mean, it's PLAUSIBLE that higher stress due to Trump being elected contributed to this unexpected increase.

2016 election season and aftermath was stressful for many, and stress has a negative effect on human health specifically and humans generally in ways I don't think we fully understand yet.

2012 was stressful for many, too. So was 2008, 2004, 2000, 1996... you get the point. I don't recall anyone speculating on the potential negative effect on human health after those elections, though.

This is just stupid.

Do they do studies of every election? And if so, was the 2018 election less stressful or more?

Without additional data to compare we don't know.
