A black Georgia state lawmaker said a white man cursed at her in front of her young daughter and told her to "go back" to where she came from because he thought she had too many items in the express checkout line at a grocery store.

Black Georgia lawmaker says white man told her to '''go back''' to where she came from

Shocking headline, and story....Except that it is propaganda....

Sparkes told Jennings he is a Democrat and of Cuban nationality and claimed Thomas was just accusing him to help her political career.
"This woman is playing the victim for political purposes because she is a state legislator," Sparkes said. "I'm a Democrat and will vote Democrat for the rest of my life, so call me whatever you want to believe. For her political purposes, make it black, white, brown, whatever. It is untrue."

Now, you can argue that NBC just had to rush to the headline, but I believe this is purposeful...It is a lie, and propaganda.

The incident in Chicago involving that actor has helped make many Americans very cautious about believing similar claims.

As we all know too well, human beings lie like a rug.

The media has a narrative they want to push. New reports are coming out about this, and they are still failing to mention that the guy is both a democrat and Hispanic (from Cuba) that "would never support Trump or a republican" all while tying it back to Trump.

This report was published just 30 minutes ago, well after both sides of the story are out, and not a mention of the guy's denial or background. Just parroting the dubious claims of the lawmaker:

Absolutely right....We've also already seen at least one poster in this board use this story to bolster their claims that white, right wingers are all racist in another thread....So begins the repeating of the lie.

"I called you a lazy (expletive)," Sparkes said to Thomas. "That's the worst thing I said."

Sparkes sounds like a gem. Why are you automatically choosing to believe him, and before a video of the incident even has a chance to come out?

This is all over the local news... another overblown interaction between two morons destine to be on television for all the wrong reasons.

Clearly there are two sides to this story...tell me why NBC decided to rush out a one sided piece, with an inflammatory headline, if not to push the narrative that you, and others eat up without question?

For the same reason we didn't believe Smollett ... long before the truth came out.

When she then throws out the "maybe because I'm pregnant, maybe because I'm black".... you know what this woman is all about.

Did I eat up the lawmaker’s story without question?

You, meanwhile, are very confident that her story is a lie.

It's "overblown" when its a white Trump supporter making the racist claims?

Are you aware there is surveillance video of the incident?
A black state lawmaker in Georgia said she was approached by a white man in a Publix grocery store and told “to go back where you came from.”

State Rep. Erica Thomas described the alleged incident in an emotional Facebook Live video on Friday.

"This white man comes up to me and says, 'You lazy son of a bitch. ... You need to go back where you came from,'" she said. “I said, ‘Sir, you don't even know me. I'm not lazy. I'm nine months pregnant.’”

The alleged incident happened days after President Trump told four congresswomen of color to “go back” to their countries of origin. Only one of the lawmakers, Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, was born outside of the U.S., but she is now an American citizen.

Thomas said she was with her 9-year-old daughter in the express lane at a Mableton store, but had too many items, when the man approached her.

"My child is just sitting there. 'Mama, why would he call you that?' I can't even explain to her why he has so much hate in his heart," she said.

Thomas said a Publix employee eventually asked the man to leave, but he kept coming back inside.

Police are investigating the incident, and there is surveillance footage, according to WSB-TV Atlanta.

Yes you did, by questioning the Cuban Democrats story. Even in the face of the legislator now walking back her claims...

Why was that?

The constant claims of racism, many of which have turned put to be fake, have made racism meaningless. If we aren't there yet we are well on the way to that with the terms nazi and fascist.

That and this ladies claims that just happen to match up with the latest news cycle anti trump narrative to get her in the news.

Can you imagine her story being picked up if her claim was just I am too good to have to follow rules and I was called lazy by a democrat? No one would care. She saw an opportuit and grabbed it.

All the he said, she said stuff really misses the point and nobody is bothering to talk about the admitted FACT that the woman had 15 items in the 10 items or less line. That kind of **** would piss off the pope and it happens all the time. Express line abuse needs to be stopped!

Nope. I was questioning why you ate up Sparke’s story without question, as you did in your OP. Have you already forgotten the post that started this thread?

Sure there are videos ... like the one where the supposed Trump supporter identifies as Hispanic democrat and where the black lawmaker can't even recall what the supposed Trump supporter had said to her ... :lamo

Forget it? I started it, and I wasn't making a claim of veracity of one side or the other, more that NBC chose to push a narrative that you believe...you've proved me right.

Meh. It’s what happens in checkout that prolongs the process, much less so the number of items you have. And in this very instance that exchange almost certainly made the process take as long as if she had strolled into checkout with a cart filled with half a month’s worth of groceries.

Uh, you called the nbc story propaganda and a lie, and all based on Sparke’s side of the story. You started out the thread with a conclusion fully formed about who was right. Did you forget that?

You need to find a partner that will do the provisioning, imo. Only time I step into a grocery store is when the missus is out of town! :2razz:

She keeps on "forgetting" beer and potato chips.

Does it register with you that she is now walking back her claims?

She is indeed. A stupid and silly incident that never would have happened if the dude hadn’t lost his mind over the fact that she had a whole 15 items in her basket and called her a “lazy [expletive].”

What else do you call a supposed news piece that presents one side of a story for which they haven't verified the details?
