Iran claims to have seized British oil tanker in strait of Hormuz

Iraq was a mistake since day one and turned into a huge, expensive quagmire that eventually gave rise to ISIS. I think anything that involves Iran is going to be even more sticky.

There is no reason to go war over a few oil tankers.

Indeed. It's supposed to be retaliation for the ship the UK seized, but this kind of thing usually ends up in violence of some kind. You can only play slapsies for so long before someone gets punched.

“It’s all fun and games until someone gets poked in the eye!”

We had a strategic advantage because they would have had to occupy two fronts.

But, not now.

We'll probably wake up to the news that Iran has been bombed.
or, the top leaders assassinated.

Maybe, both.

I just watched the movie Munich (assassination of those involved with the murders of Israeli athletes).
Israel might get involved.

So when the UK seizes and Iranian ship it is ok when Iran seizes an UK ship it is lawlessness?

Correct.

The UK is a democracy engaging in legal sanction against Syria. Iran is aware of the sanction. Iran nonetheless sent a tanker, secretly and flying a false (not convenient) flag to Syria. It was an act of deception and fully aware of the consequences should they be discovered.

Iran is a backwards theocracy without legitimate claim to the tanker.

Details, details... I know, but they matter.

Neh...neither.

Incredible movie-- it's been awhile since I saw it, but I was riveted.

Yeah, we would have just had to militarily hold on to a foreign country for 17 years.

Well if one assumes Iran implodes and the Saudis become the dominant power, there will be the Shia terrorists that will likely arise when the Sunnis start persecuting them.

What does Israel or Munich have to do with this episode?

Patience will be wearing very thin....

'HOSTILE ACT' Iran seizes British oil tanker in the Gulf with 23 crew on board days after clash with Royal Navy

A BRITISH oil tanker with 23 crew on board has been seized by Iranian troops in the Gulf, the country's state TV said.

The Government's Cobra committee is holding an emergency meeting in Whitehall tonight after the Stena Impero was halted in the Strait of Hormuz by what the ship's owners called a "hostile action".

We been in Europe for 75 years and Korea for 70 years.

U.S. forces in Iraq along with Afghanistan would save lives in the coming war with Iran.

End the bloody sanctions and find a diplomatic way for both sides to back down without losing face
You have it backwards. Find a diplomatic way to end the bloody sanctions. This route isn't going to help Iran.

I mean, we should just set up in every country of the world forever just in case something happens somewhere then. Think of all the lives we could save.

This part is interesting. I wonder what the commander of this response group is called.

In London, there were reports that the government’s emergency response committee, Cobra, was being convened.

In the end, it doesnt matter who is in the right. If you keep pushing someone, they will eventually push back.

I have morals and ethics. I'm not pushing without reason and if there's a pushback it deserves to be put down.
