Labor fight roils Bernie Sanders campaign, as workers demand the $15 hourly pay the candidate has proposed for employees nationwide

"This week, the union, in conjunction with the Sanders campaign staffers it represents, has been preparing to send Shakir a new proposal. According to a draft of the proposal obtained by The Post, they are asking for $46,800 for field organizers and $62,400 for regional field directors.

The draft also asked the campaign to cover 100 percent of the health-care costs for employees making $60,000 per year or less. Under the current agreement, the campaign pays all premiums for salaried employees making $36,000 or less per year. Those making more are covered at a rate of 85 percent."

Gee, why would they need to negotiate at all? It would appear the Bernie campaign understands something their candidate doesn't...

Bernie Sanders is pro-union, pro-union/employer negotiations and pro-15/hr minimum wage. Your attempt to paint this as a campaign in disarray or drenched in hypocrisy is transparent and more than a little lazy.

And lol "roils the Sanders campaign" :lamo

First, he has a sexual assault problem, now this.

So let me get this: the Sanders campaign workers are entitled to better pay an hour now? Is that the conservative position? And what is the conservative position on Walmart workers?

Trumpsters pointing out someone else's labor and sexual harassment problems.. While they've been ignoring Trump's problems has had with his workers and women for 30+ years... lol...lol

Trump and his Trumpsters have lower the bar so much, unfortunately I don't see why any American would any longer care what any politicians has done or will do.

And I'm not exaggerating. If your 'candidate' stole money from his/her charity, or has accusations against them, or acts and talks about as un-Christian as one can be, but Evangelicals still strongly support him.. So why would anyone care anymore? Trump's done all of the above in spades and not a single Trumpster or Republican or so called Christian seems to care.

What a remarkable amount of fortitude to not actually reply to the poster when calling him a hypocrite.

If you can't follow the political theatre in this story, that's just sad for you.

Bahahahahahaha, because you really care about sexual harassment allegations now? You care about one of Sanders' staffers being accused, but don't care at all about the dozens and dozens of sexual assault allegations against Trump, many of which were settled by Trump. Sanders has never even had an accusation of sexual misconduct, much less a settlement or conviction. What a "problem"! :lamo

Why would I need to use a quote when I'm the first reply? The poster in question lazily reposted an opinion piece he found so what do I have to really quote from him?

What have you added to this thread? Can you please stay on topic.

Don't forget Sanders committed a felony when he received assistance from a foreign country.

FEC hits Trump on 1,100 errors, totaling roughly $1.3M

The Federal Election Commission is asking the campaign of Donald Trump to correct more than 1,000 errors in its latest financial filing.

The FEC determined that the Trump campaign accepted close to 1,100 donations, which amounted to roughly $1.3 million, that violated one of a handful of campaign finance laws.

You do not care about any of these issues if you only care when "the other guy" does it.

As I said, sad. Others in your life should have explained etiquette to you. If you feel that it is a blog post, report it.

Again, if you don't see the political theatre in a politician calling for things that he is not providing to his own employees, you have lost all sense of perspective and or humour.

Whataboutism. :lamo

Or just making it obvious to everyone else that you don't care about any of these things as you applaud Trump for actually doing them himself and far worse.

I'm actually surprised you haven't mentioned Hillary this thread. Are you feeling alright?

Seems like these people should be willing to work for FREE!

Nope. Try again.

Sanders SAYS all Americans deserve a living wage at or above $15.00/hour.

This is not rocket science.

Nope. Try again.

So then back to Sanders, are we supposed to decry the fact that the Campaign allows its workers the right to fight for better conditions rather than just saying 'take it or leave it' - is that it now?

....or are we just supposed to fear the prospect that Democratic candidates will have better compensated staffers than the Republicans? Wow, paying workers a decent wage, that's communism!

I think it's more of the hypocrisy of saying EVERYONE should get $15 an hour, then not paying it to your campaign staff......

That's just precious.
