House passes bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15

This legislation gets the ball rolling for a legitimate means of indexing minimum-wage growth. I think this is an absolutely wonderful idea because it (eventually) makes minimum-wage growth a function of overall wage conditions. If median wages are increasing, so will the wage floor... If median wages remain stagnant (in the event of declines in wage rates, i don't believe there is language for rolling back the wage floor) minimum wages will hold flat. Of course, in order to get there, it will take one wage hike of $1.15/hr in 2019 and then six wage hikes of $1.10/hr each following year until 2025. At that point, the minimum wage will be effectively tied to that of the median wage.

Now given that Trump and McConnell will unlikely support this piece of legislation, i don't see this happening until 2021 at the earliest.

It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.

As long as other wages are required to increase accordingly fine. If not I hope this defacto pay cut for skilled labor fails miserably.

    not just no

    but HELL NO

you want to talk...lets be realistic

    national from $ 7.25 to $ 9.00 immediate

then a look at the wage every 3-5 years, and adjust for inflation

if communities and states want to go higher, let them

$ 9.00 as a NATIONAL number is fine

And with that, the economy just takes a huge giant dump...

It's a show bill designed to say, hey look voters.....we care...... and when it kills the economy, it won't matter to them, they will have their 174K salaries and guaranteed health care, and retirement etc,

    Absolute nonsense.

Minimum wage should NEVER BE a CAREER CHOICE, like some people have made it to be.
